Thanks for the update on the original plans and what has happened!!  I sure appreciate it.  What a bummer, but it sure is how things have played out.  I came here to see if there were any updates with Sync as I was thinking it is time to shut my part down after all these years.  Looks like I am about the last one standing with the only running node, and there appears to be only 3 other clients besides myself.  I'll definitely keep it running yet though after seeing some discussion here.

I don't necessarily have suggestions, sorry.  But I do like what you laid out and think any change and activity would be a good thing.  Especially at a time like this in the market.

I'm still staking, who else is? and what version SYNC wallet are you running? do0d's version from 22 Feb 2018?

Still staking since the beginning Smiley  Seems like enough people stake, but barely enough.  Speaking of my version I'm surprised to see so many people still running the old client.

This coin is still alive? Is there a project on the way? . I remember when it was 1btc/1sync Wink .
I have to check the old wallets and see if I can find any sync.

Is there a working exchange? I could buy some at 0.035 BTC

I have some ideas for sync, who's still around?

The 1st post is updated and current - see that for info.

Well, we're down to 4 staking wallets.  Unless something changes very quickly this chain is going to get stuck.

There is no protocol change between the versions, but it sure isn't a GUI update.  Take a look at the release notes:

https://github.com/BlockchainDevelopmentCompany/Sync/releases/tag/1.1.1.0

In my mind the worst part of running the older client is that it won't connect to any seed nodes without modifying the conf file.  Not to mention it has a very outdated version of openssl with a lot of known vulnerabilities.  More info in the link above.

I can sure embed the Sync logo in the ANN if you think that would make a difference.  Anything more than that I think we'll want someone with more of those skills to do it.

Yikes!  We're down to 6 wallets staking.    Undecided

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sync/#!extraction

I once stake mined a dying Blackcoin-clone altcoin. LOL, there were only about three of us and sometimes only two of us. It was fun though because I learned you could triple your coins in leass than 4 months. It was an experiment and eventually the other miner called quits. I had no one else in the network.

Heh, yeah it is great for learning!  This coin did get stuck once.  We're quickly getting to that point again.

I think that there is not much to do except keep the chain alive.

That is a real risk.  There aren't many of us staking at all and there is a real risk of the chain stopping if we lose anymore.

I can sure add an image to the ANN, but 1block you submitted to them?  No word back?  I think contacting them is the best step to take at this point instead of guessing.  And I doubt they are going to look back on something over 2 months old to see if the ANN was improved on their own.

I downloaded the mac wallet and its not syncing. Searched the thread and saw the .conf fix but I don't have a Sync folder under Library>Application Support. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Where did you find the mac wallet?  I haven't compiled one for the latest version yet as I got busy and forgot honestly.  I don't have much mac experience myself.

Great!  0.085 now I see.

Kucoin sure is getting a lot of positive attention lately.  About to use that now to pick up some Pareto Smiley  Not sure what it takes to get listed there.

synccoin.net is for sale. I tried to contact him, but he didn't answer yet.
Dear all, any news abot SYNC???
How i can synchronize wallet?

I'm close to releasing a new wallet if you don't mind waiting just a little bit.  It will save you having to modify the conf file and add nodes...and you don't have to load a chain if you don't want to.  The new client is syncing entirely from the network in about 3 days for me.

@Damdai The code changes are all done.  My testing is complete and I have a few people beta testing.  I'm now working on the osx build.

Great! will you also make a website? or is that coming later?

1block has it on his list, but I'm not sure of his timing.  I'd love to see one soon just with current info to help things along - especially with adding exchanges.  I've got all my time into the code right now though if anyone else wants to dive in and set something up.

Also... If anyone is interested and able to create a dns entry that could be dynamically updated with current seed nodes it would be great to get that into the code.  We could use a couple/few so there aren't just hard coded IPs in there.

http://synccoin.net/   This wasn't the official website initially? Is still working, will it be in the hands of MsCollec?

That is correct.  mscollec doesnt have access to the social media accounts any longer, but I didn't ask about that website.  Might as well start new though?

Welcome back guys!  I sure remember you from 2014 biomech!

Just to be accurate the coins mature in 6 hours not 5 days.

I've thought about a new ANN, but for now I like keeping the history since mscollec is willing to update things I pass along.  It may make more sense once 1block and his blockchain development company takes over.

The development work I planned (and some extras) are just about complete.  I'll post an update again once I get a little closer to testing.  Right now I'm working through one last issue with updating openssl.

I'm just doing some functional and informational updates to improve the current state of things.  I think you could call me a DIY repair man Smiley  I'll let 1block respond for himself, but I've been in constant contact with him about what I am doing.

I've got the code compiling for Windows finally!  So now I'm going through some of the updates I've wanted to do and learning/testing.  Once the changes are done and tested I'd like to get the client into an installer.  The last step will be updating the 1st post since it needs everything else to be completed first.  I'll keep you guys updated as I go along here, but it is moving quickly right now.

Thanks for the great tutorial.  So far I've been able to get through a few problems, but I'm stuck now with a Berkley DB linking problem.  I've recompiled it and tried a couple different versions.  I also removed all the Berkley DB files to see if I get a different error and it is the same, but everything looks correct when I check paths/names.  I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, but I'm getting these errors (small snippet since they are all the same undefined reference error):

Code:

Figured it out.  Solution for anyone else:
In my .pro file I was using:
BDB_INCLUDE_PATH=${MXE_LIB_PATH}
BDB_LIB_PATH=${MXE_LIB_PATH}
Because the install was putting the files there.  I'm not sure why that didn't work, but when I switched them to this it started working:
BDB_INCLUDE_PATH="/mnt/db-5.3.28/build_mxe"
BDB_LIB_PATH="/mnt/db-5.3.28/build_mxe"
