In my opinion, Altcoins will have its own development. There are also some Altcoins based on the Bitcoin platform but it can not affect Bitcoin. Because Bitcoin has its strength and own trend that make people always want it.

I also keep some tokens but it is difficult to decide to sell or hold. I usually want to hold rather than sell when it is listed on the exchange market but the market situation will not allow me to do it.

I stay calm to face this situation, as long as I can find a lot of good news in cryptocurrency world's, come on mate, we are in the begining phase to reach the bright future of blockchain technology.And as trader, maybe you can see that, the volume of bitcoin or cryptocurrency continues to increase at any time, so keep calm
To make 100% to avoid scam is impossible because even the good project can turn into scam if one of their team member do,but you can prevent it by doing some research of the project you want to invest,escrow for an ICO i think it is not posible.
Also not all the projects that fail are scams, you just need to look at the world of businesses to know that most of them fail even if the owners had all the desire to become successful, and the same applies to the ico market, there are many good persons out there that are trying to develop something new but they are underestimating the difficulty and the costs that it will take and so the project will eventually fail.Not all of the ICO's is cheating mate,there are still good and legitimate ICO's but I cannot blame you for what you say about ICO's because that is not easy for you,but nexttime be careful research the project properly before you invest so that you can avoid scam and cheating projects.

Any skepticism which i admit we are not really believing in ETH. When ETH prices decline continuously and in an unstable state. But i believe in Bitcoin and ETH will break the record as well as make a surprise in the last minutes of 2018. So let's believe ETH and Bitcoin.In my opinion ETH will not drop too much compared to the price of $ 197 last month. And ETH is showing a rebound but not fast. Maybe it needs more time and good news and positive news for the crypto market, Bitcoin and ETH will dance at higher prices.
