alt coins aren't going mainstream due to the nature of uncertainty and not being regulated. this kind of economy undermines traditional banking which they want to keep under the ropes to insure that companies like JP morgan are relevant.

I think this depends on what your goals are and how to go about them. Quick profit? don't invest long, invest and short it immediately.

for long term investments, it takes more research of the company, vertical that it's in, the problem it's solving and it's product, etc.

if you ONLY have 250eth and nothing else, i'd suggest maybe expanding your portfolio a bit to diversify.

in terms of short term/ positional trading and NOT holding, i'd say any alt coin that has a health amount of volume that isn't going on an insane bull run.

given that fundamentally it isn't a scam coin, and technically that it should be somewhat of a low dipping point, profit margins should be in your favor so long as you do your research.

safest best is probably the top 10-15 coins with highest trade volumes in your exchange (must be a good exchange with volume).

airdrops are safe as long as you don't get an airdrop from an unknown project that requires you to download some phishy wallet. I've received airdrops and nothing wrong happened.

honestly, just diversify by fundamentals ie) what service/ vertical does the problem/ issue it's solving. Put some in finance, computing, platforms, storage, etc. then just forget about it. obviously keep a hefty % into the main coins btc, eth, ltc, and hedge it a bit (bcc, etc, etc.)

i think all the alt coins that are top 20 have a bright future, just give it time. it's all about portfolio management.

i'd also like to add, you don't NEED to invest into ICOs. you can just be apart of the pump and dump cycle if you want quick cash. Investing meaning you keep your money in them for the long term, but there are many things that pump coins ie) initial post-ico pump, gets listed on an exchange, some actual well known dev tweeting the team, etc.

i think hedging a small portion of your portfolio with bcc might be a good idea as well.

honestly, i'm waiting for ZRX to pop off in a year or two. pretty good protocol for upcoming erc20 coins.

lol with 50 dollars you'll get nothing. get some penny stock coin and just get a ton of supply and forget about it for 5 years.

i don't think it's whether a coin will replace btc but more of what will co-exist with btc long term.

i always hedge a certain % for anything to mitigate risk. Especially for forks, it can't hurt to slightly minimize profits in the event things go south.

i'd say invest into ico's with a good team, if the product isn't finished just hodl it out.

what impresses me most about bitcoin is how much community is backed by it. there are people who are so invested in this technology it's inspiring.

i guess the pull back was eminent and was going to happen eventually, healthy for markets to react this way. new ATH soon

i'd take the top 10 coins and spread it evenly with eth, lite, and btc being a heavier majority % of the portfolio.
