Very interesting Arionum coin, i like the transparency and especially no premine, i hope, this new cryptocurrency can compete and show positive results, i think it will be good if you plan gpu mining in the future, i wiill keep an eye on this.

Whole point is that its a CPU only coin so they are not planning GPU mining

Actually i don't have high expensive mining equipment my question is it possible to use my two laptops (core i7 , core i3) to mine this coin? and how much will have in 24 hours ?
good luck
You'd need to check the hash rate you get and calculate on https://arionum.info/calculator
My opinion is that it's worth it, even with a laptop.

I've found that I only get around 30 coins per day but the calculator says I should be getting around 50, so its not very accurate

New release of Java Miner w/ prebuilds for Windows:

https://github.com/ProgrammerDan/arionum-java/releases/tag/0.2.3

I strongly recommend updating. Testing users saw 25-50% increase in hashing speeds. In some rare cases, 100% increase. This will vary from system configuration to configuration. Tested ~24 hours on my test systems (i7 7700k, Atom 2.4Ghz) with many successful share submissions.

Current benchmark changes:

Linux Mint 18.3, i7-7700k: 11.25h/s ---> 14.25h/s

Windows 10 Pro, i7 6600U: ~2.5H/s --> 6H/s

Thank you so much! This version pushed my i7 7700k from 5.8 H/s to 13 on only 6 hashers.
Great job

Which one of those is the best to download and what are the differences?

The short answer -- the one that fits what your hardware can use.

Most AMD hardware has at least AVX support; some, AVX2.

Most recent Intel Hardware has AVX2 support; some has AVX512f -- use it if yours does.

Check with your CPU manufacturer (Intel Ark for instance shows all hardware features for each Intel CPU) to see which extensions you can use.

All hardware should be able to run the generic. Some older hardware with AVX support might run faster using "generic" -- the plain arionum-miner-java.exe which is for any Windows system.

Please note that there is a hard requirement for 64bit JRE for all versions.

As to what is better -- AVX is a kind of vector operation extension. AVX2 doubles the size of the vectors useable. AVX512f as used in this lib, doubles the size of the vector again. Each _can_ represent about 20% speedboost; although sometimes due to other hardware optimizations AVX isn't faster then Generic build.

Thanks for a good explanation!

Having some issues though trying to run it with more than 4 hashers.
Trying to run with 7 hashers gives me the following issue:

You have 8 processors vs. 7 hashers.

Also puts my hashrate at around 5.9 with the i7 7700k which should apparently produce 8-11 H/s.

Any idea how to fix this?

I get around 5.6 on PHP , 6.2 on Java and on the auto miner I get like 1 H/s
Not sure how to get the 8-11 H/s you said possible on i7 7700k

I get 11.25h/s on i7-7700k

Config:

Linux Mint 18.3
locally compiled (follow "advanced installation" instructions for linux) argon2i library
8 hashers

Using:

https://github.com/ProgrammerDan/arionum-java/releases/tag/0.2.2

Im on windows. Perhaps thats the problem

We have manually updated the difficulty as we were stuck on the block 10801.

Everyone running nodes, should update again. (git pull)

The miners should also be updated to the latest versions.

@draceus0 The expected hashrate for a i7 7700k is between 8 and 11. If you're getting only 3, there's a problem in your config. Try more hashers.

As a comparison, a GTX1080 should be getting around 21-24H/s atm.

Do no be alarmed by the new low hashrates, they are low for everyone and that's what was expected.

I'm at ~1.5 on an i7-4790k. Is that about what I should expect? When you say there could be a problem in config, how would you check that?

Which miner are you using? If it's java, delete the old config.
If it's php, you need to open more instances (1 per thread).

I'm on PHP/Auto-Miner. I didn't realize I could open more instances. So I will have multiple instances of ~1.3-5? Is your 5.2 added instances or just one miner going at a time?

Thats just one instance

So the issue with gpu miners are not fixed then? If a 1080 gets more than 2x my CPU hashrate its still very viable

I thought you were going do decrease GPU hashrate and not CPU? I'm now getting like 3 H/s on a i7 7700k which before gave me around 70 H/s

Whats up with that?

If you predict a 1080 gets 25 H/s its still magnitudes better than one of the fastest 4 core hyperthreaded cpu on the market right now

We would like to get your vote on setting a max fee for the transactions. It would be implemented in the hard fork we will implement in the coming days if voted. https://forum.arionum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20

Could you comment on the fact that there is already a working GPU miner? Whats being done about that

The hardfork which is being prepared plans to deal with the gpu mining, and reduce it's advantage to get the cpu also viable for mining.

I hope that you do more than just make cpu viable for mining. Its one of the main points of this coin so nothing else should be viable except for it. Hope you can sort it out

So there is a working GPU miner already that can reach a speed of 600 H/s ??

Whats the point of this "CPU only" coin then?

I would say what cards to get depends on your budget.
You should also consider the 1060's IMO

Also, don't expect to become rich from mining  Grin

Because it does  not  serve the rel  world needs... cme on do you really think Banks do they need the Blockchain?  For what?  FOr decentrlized Ledger?  Come on  there  are better tecnology

Think you got it all wrong. Its not about the banks needing blockchain, its about people freeing themselves from the centralized system and the banks who currently control out money.

I got a newbie status yes, but that doesn't stop me from reading up on stuff myself.

If you actually took 10 minutes to try and find out about how your cards will perform you would realize they are totally crap and not worth mining with
