Seemingly lost transfer between exchanges - can we collectively fight back?
by

How can an average customer fight back when an exchange (like hitBTC et al) does not properly account for a transfer made between exchanges? When we are given one address to send to, one email to confirm the transfer and this works as designed, and yet we don't receive the coinage, and (in my case) see +0 as the deposited amount, and then have the exchange(s) ignore support requests... what can we possibly do to fight back?

My bizarre trx that landed as +0 KBR at hitBTC: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x0b59af78d0ef337201895eae93ce8e197bf388b481dd49500517d342058cda1d

I am not the only one of course, and wonder if we can somehow "disrupt" the disruptors here.

I have all but given up on hit BTC answered my support requests, and prefer not to go down without a fight.

Thoughts are welcome.

Hey hitBTC, trxHash: 0x0b59af78d0ef337201895eae93ce8e197bf388b481dd49500517d342058cda1d
Ticket #214346

How can you possibly be in crypto since 2013 and not have created code to properly looking into a JSON object correctly to dissect the actual amount of coins involved in the transaction?

I transferred from Cryptopia to you directly. Valid process. Only one address offered by you, and no "advanced" properties from Cryptopia. Just a simple transfer with email confirmation. What the f*&$ else can we do to make it work?

You receive a transaction via blochain. It is simple JSON with an internal JSON object, a dictionary with a dictionary. Your code accepts this, breaks it down, and creates a double-entry into your sub-system that feeds my account and your liability. Seems simple. I know, i have created a budgeting system that tracked $30b.

Yet your "advanced" system deposited +0, yes, +0 KBR into my account.

Seriously, it would seem you need to hire: a) more creative coders, b) more support staff.

thank you for listening and acting.

Here, here.

I for one abhor trading 'bots, and the idea of a wallet having a certain requirement for a double-check seems valid.

As well: "High fees = low BTC price"  <<< absolutely. I avoid usage of BTC now due to the bankster-level fees.

Yes, the fun is started. Unfortunately LOCI token still under ICO price and there's so much massive sale. If each token value on ICO is $2.49, then it should be around 0.00227eth. It can be said the current price really invites the desire to buy it.

Or you could argue that the market doesnt see the use for this token.

So far only listed on etherdelta?

The lack of timely news, updates or intention has strongly reduced my enthusiasm for what could be a very very useful example of how blockchain can change the world. I have gone through the patent process and know just how ready it is for disruption. But.. while the Venn UI on the web is interesting, it needs work, the site needs polish and the ICO has been dismal. Bring on more enthusiastic members to ramp up the energy!

Few seem to realize that the potential of blockchain is NOT to articulate trading exchanges, but to disrupt technologies entrenched by an oligopoly. Pasting from another space where i write:

Many of you of read my posts (ok, all three of you.. 😇 Ⓥ 🤓 🙏 ) .. know that I share a view that mainstream media is a well-oiled component, part of a larger machine that is in essence a business plan. There are 4 main machines (media, medical, food, finance) that are tightly-coupled.

When a component is damaged, the machine efficiency is impacted. When that happens you fix the machine, if you can.

What you are witnessing in the crypto markets is the beginning of an *attempt* to fix the components being impacted by cryptocurrency. If anyone thought the owners of the machine would go down without a fight, they would be wrong.

Here is the thing: disruption is seldom pretty or easy. The loss of revenue sources usually results in fights and bloodshed. So it will be with cryptocurrency, mark my words.

Do you really think those who profit in the billions and trillions would not be doing their best to impart FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt) into the mix? A few well-known old-school pundits speaking out (follow the money), speaking out and having their words spread far and wide, to help feed the FUD. When that doesn't work, a few accidents shall be seen.

Here is the deeper truth: There are many emerging blockchain services that can truly disrupt established ways of doing things: escrow, banking, notary services, many legal actions, car registries, proofs of concept, patent exploration, and many more. BUT, and this is a but few realize: none of the services are yet mainstream, as most are actively being birthed. Once they start to manifest, once real-life actions are impacted by the ability of blockchain-based services, THEN you will see the reason for the hype. It ain't just the profits by trading.

The goal of crypto is to wrestle control of services from the group that owns so much of this world. That will happen. Be strong, do not own the FUD.

Yes, cryptocurrencies are trending down, but keep the bigger picture in mind.

Disruption is rarely pretty.

Wait a moment here, amidst all the excitement of people's greed, many are posting that the whole fork is a scam, with links to show faked linkedIn profiles etc.

Why aren't the main exchanges chiming in on this potential disaster?

I asked hitBTC on their fb wall, so far no answer.

This could be a watershed moment, and greed seems to be the order of the day.

I don't see people's point in shooting down ideas!! If you don't believe in the fork go check the hash rate and number of active miners that are ready to mine the B2X on https://b2x.multipools.club/

Shooting down an idea, and exposing scammers are very different concepts.

Re: Is it time to disrupt number formats?

Setting a new format is not too difficult and i am sure some will agree that

0.000000660 is more challenging to manage than

0.000,000,660.

Hell, even writing that out caused me to stop and have to count, but it is *immediately* clear when commas are used.

This seems (at least to me) a natural progression of the usage of the comma.

I hope somebody with enough readership agrees and shares the idea.

Is it time to disrupt number formats?
by

hey folks, I am proposing a simple evolution of number formats that can greatly aid general consumption of displayed values in the crypto world.

If you have 2 minutes, can you review my thoughts and let me know if you agree or not?
