Re: Bounty 20 BTC: Wi-Fi Hotspot, enabled by bitcoin
by
drewdtom
on 27/06/2016, 20:02:17 UTC
We have started a presale and crowd funding campaign for a new bitcoin product, The BEWP: Bitcoin Enabled WIFI Portal. BEWP is software configured as a router for Raspberry Pi 3 and other Linux based mini-computers to serve Wi-Fi through a bitcoin pay wall. Using popular bitcoin wallets, such as CoPay, consumers can use bitcoin to get past the Wi-Fi captive portal and establish an Internet connection.

The limited edition plug-and-play prototype is available through Purse.io as well as our Bitcoin Starter page where we offer a few price points to help support the project with a preorder of the final product or an early prototype to help us beta test the various features we have planned.

We just wrapped up deploying the BEWP at the 13th annual Porcupine Freedom festival and provide great WIFI coverage in the remote white mountains of New Hampshire.

Learn more at our Bitcoin Starter page or below is a link to an article just published by Bitcoin.com

Hey all,

My partners and I would like to give this project a go. Over the last few months we have been playing around with some code and looking at other attempts at this project. We currently have a working prototype for a raspberry pi 3.

We have seen the project that 21.co put out but the price point of a 21 computer makes the product a bit to pricey for most. Our software would run on any raspberry pi and would only need a wifi adapter for a pi 1 and 2 to work. (plus SD card, power adapter and network cable)

If anyone in here is still offering a bounty that would be cool, but I'm trying to fully understand what features make this a great product that you all would support. We will likely sell some prototype units to make back our time developing this product.

We also have an opportunity to demonstrate the product at an upcoming even in New Hampshire among bitcoin users. I'll be back to post an update on our prototype sale but please let me know what it is that would make this qualify for any bounty's or your support buying a prototype.

Thanks!

Hello again Bitcoin100,

I have been working with Libertopia.org on their upcoming event in San Diego this year and have been talking with them about the benefits of bitcoin over the last so many years. This annual educational program is in its 5th year and the organizers are happy to announce that they have formed and been approved as a 501c3 organization. Libertopia has been experimenting with bitcoin for a few years now but this year the ticket ordering process has been integrated with BitPay and the webmaster is working on getting a general donation widget and/or bitcoin logo on the site.

I wanted to know if you would consider this non political, educational operation for your endowment. In the past the event has played host to some well know speakers in the space including Trace Mayer, Jeff Berwick and others. This year is no exception with members of the bitcoin community presenting on a wide variety of topics.

You can learn more about the organization and this years event at Libertopia.org and if the 501c3 status needs to be provided I can follow up with Rassah on email and loop him in with the organizers.

This is from the bottom of the about page:

"Libertopia is a project of the Libertalia Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 tax-exempt non-profit organization, dedicated to spreading the principles of free-market economics and voluntaryism. Donations are tax-deductible. We respectfully ask for your help as we strive to expand and promote a society where all interactions are voluntary."

Thanks again for all you do.  Join us in San Diego if you can!

BitMit was one of the first Bitcoin sites I started getting involved with. I had no clue what this new currency I had was and no idea what to do with it but Bitmit was there for me and gave gave me a fun place to sell some silver and copper trinkets along other items. BitMit was very good to me.  Cry

Thank you all so much for a wonderful community experience and the opportunity to learn about bitcoin and the amazing world of possibilities is brings to us all!

Just an FYI, the anchor link function is not working, i.e. #items

http://bitmit.net/en/user/drew/?ref=2063#items

I had it working at one time to point you right to the items I'm selling. Maybe the feedback can be moved below my items?

Also, I still have some BitMit stickers after giving many of them away for free at BitCon in San Jose.

https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/27200-5-bitmit-sticker-round-quality-vinyl-sticker
amazing! so people pay you $3-$6 for how many stickers? One? Really one? To advertise once(?) for this commercial service bitmit?
I just bought 500 same size bitcoin stickers for $30. 500!
I mean I most likely would get it cheaper somehow here in Chile but it's not worth trying but your offer is a joke.

Lets recap,

I buy 750 stickers (50 of them are the listed bitmit stickers) and give 75% of them away for FREE at Bitcoin2013,

Then I put the last few I have left on BitMit for anyone who loves BitMit as much as I do and your bitching? Go a head, Please print thousands of BitMit stickers and sell them in bulk so I don't have to...

Not to mention I offered to send tosaki some free ones!

Rassah,

Thank you for your support of Fr33Aid, The blog post and Press
announcement have been pushed out by Fr33Aid.com and all of us
involved are promoting the news on our various social networks.

I noticed on the forum post that you are willing to extend your offer
to all 3 organizations that BitcoinNotBombs was promoting at the
bitcoin conference. I have been talking with Angela Keaton from
AntiWar.com about how they might add to this effort and give you the
promotional push that your looking for. AntiWar.com has a large
community of readers that we would like to help you reach. I have
included her on this email and we would like to discus how we might
best work together on this.

Thoughts on funding the second and third organizations? Do they qualify? Do you want them to do anything extra to earn the money?

I personally would be happy to support these organizations - i don't think they should have to do anything.
People like this should be unconditionally supported

Thank you all so much for your support of Fr33aid.com! BitcoinNotBombs.com partnered with these 3 great organization at Bitcoin2013 to help push them to people like you who see the value in supporting Bitcoin Nonprofits and charities. No longer can the media say bitcoin is only for drug dealers and "illegal" activity.

Linked is some video I produced from the conference and the full hour long panel talk that the 4 ladies gave Sunday afternoon for any of you who could not attend.

Short and fun video wrap up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsYNVlY73-k

Hour long panel talk: http://vimeo.com/66852081

I'm told a video with better sound quality is on it's way from one of the other media producers, will edit when ready.

Ripples Sent! 'mickFNQ1' and 'mobydick'

I don't always check the forum so PM me if I miss this thread. Remember this is a loan and I am asking for the ripps back, I sell XRP's on BitMit for beginners at a mark up to cover the cost of the loans that dont come back.

I will keep providing this service so long as its not being taken advantage of or until Ripple starts up some new giveaways.

"PM me for a loan" thats the part you missed  Smiley

You can "PM" me on BitMit, the forum or even Reddit.. someone bought out the other listings I had for more ripples at a better price, I set the price of that listing so high so people would not buy them out.

Also if the people I loan XRP's to don't pay me back, I will stop feeding my cats. So please make sure to send the ripples back when you get more from BitStamp.
