Re: It's all about "why" do I need Bitcoins
by
drwho88888

- If you don't convert to fiat, no tax got to be paid on the money you earn. So if you would prefer not to give 60% of your wage away, you need Bitcoin.

Great, let's all do that. No one pays tax ever again. Yippeee.... Just like Amazon, Google, Apple in the UK.....

Then let's see how fast the infrastructure of the planet collapses.

Why Bitcoin will never reach mainstream
by
drwho88888
on 15/07/2013, 11:50:14 UTC
Bitcoin will never reach the mainstream because there are far too many crooks, scammers, hackers and the like preying on everyone else aswell as each other. And because of the anonymity they are much less likely to be traced.

Unless the whole business has more accountability it will always remain underground and be treated with suspicion by mainstream consumers and businesses alike.

With difficulty reaching such high levels in a few months putting mining outside the realm of 99% of current miners I forsee the interest in BTC dieing out quite rapidly and the whole charade collapsing.

Dramatic, yes. Probable, yes.

Step 1: Buy USB key.
Step 2: Install Ubuntu Live USB thingie.
Step 3: Copy the HTML file for BitAddress.org onto the USB.
Step 4: Use the USB and the HTML file offline.
Step 5: Under the "Wallet Details"-tab write your OWN private keys.
Step 6: Print the key/address pairs onto 3-4 pieces of paper (possibly on an offline/old printer etc.).

This takes care of every cyber attack possible and is doable cheaply for most people.

This also makes wallet.dat corruption impossible.

Or buy a CoinLockr which has done all for you. Works well. coinlockr.com

This isn't mining related…

Correct. Well done.

However, I thought some guys who understood the concept of Application Specific Integrated Circuits might be able to shed some light on my question. And I felt that they may be on this forum.

Naughty boy for even considering that. I stand corrected.

Does anyone know of other ASICs ? For instance, what's to stop someone creating an ASIC USB drive similar to the Block Erupter but for Photoshop ? Is that sort of application feasible ?

Re: $10m worth of BTC to float on market by Winklevoss bros (of Facebook fame)

One interesting story came up during the article which was that early on in BTC's history, some guy paid 10,000 BTC for a pizza. Betcha he isn't laughing now.

He did not pay his btc for pizza. He gave them to delivery guy.  Pizza guy got his fiat money. Delivery guy got his 10K btc which were worthless at that time. If he did not waste this btc for gambling, he is probably laughing now.

Thanks yvv. Good stuff

It would be interesting to hear of other stories from those who have been involved since the start. If there are any on this forum.

$1,000, $10,000 will never be off the cards.

$200 was once unthinkable, well, to me Cheesy

Just buy, buy, buy and HOLD like a Spartan.

Bitcoin will never have any real value if everybody "holds like a Spartan". You should use it.

+1
Oterwise its useless and Will never leave its early stage

That's true. BTC need turnover.

Great full page article about BTC in todays Sunday Times Business Section (UK). Lots of interesting stuff with the general theme being that BTC is stage one of an evolutionary process.

I like how you provided a link to the URL ...

LOL. There is no link. The Sunday Times Business Section is part of one of those old fashioned things called newspapers. Ask your parents what they were.
