Understandable really. They should accept Litecoin instead. Much more suited to the smaller transactions.

History tells us it is not too late but no one really knows what the future holds. It is a gamble be clear on that. If I was going to buy I would wait for  a dip.

Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM???
by

is there any strong guarantee or clear proof of this coin that this coin is not a scam, i often see news about a coin that is rumored not scam but real scam. is there anybody can explain it.?

What would make you think its a Scam?

Hackerone just tweeted a few days ago that ETN is one of their customers, and they work with the US Department of Defense, Starbucks, Spotify, Blockchain.info, and Coinbase.

Not a scam lol

Just because a legitimate company says they are working with someone doesn't immediately legitimise the entire operation.

There have been virtually no news updates from them, when there is it is literally 'marketing to the stupid' - as in, it's just things that just appeal to people who are die-hards and who think they can make it work just by willing it to.

I'm not saying it is a scam but they seem to be losing grip on this relatively delicate situation and you need the support of the community (especially in crypto), not just say 'we're working on it' and think that's a passable excuse when you have $40m of peoples' funds locked up (not mine by the way).

Also, obviously you believe in it, you're one of their main supporters on these forums, nothing wrong with that, but maybe then you can produce some evidence that shows it's all heading in the right direction? Just saying 'Hackerone' (which seems to be what most people are using to claim legitimacy) isn't valid. Something like the actual technical states of the wallets or the apps would be a good start, a technical background into how mobile mining/simulation is going to work and be managed (since it's not proof-of-work consensus) or even some technical background into how this isn't just a direct copy of Monero (which has a great codebase) with a name change?

They have lots of updates. Primarily on twitter and facebook. The last Facebook post was 4 days ago. Fine by me: https://www.facebook.com/electroneum/

We know the (mobile) mining is basically an Air drop via a simulated mining app.

The last time I looked at the source code commits it was clear that the Monero hard fork was a copy and paste job. That tends to be how hard forks work so I don't see an issue with that. If it works why mess with it? The Monero fork was a little late in the day though. The whole release should have been put back a few weeks before the blockchain went live but we are where we are. Personally I am 99% confident the funds will be released (we are in Crypto land there is NEVER 100% certainty). Make your own mind up but I don't recall an ICO team that was more transparent than this one.

This thread is a scam. LOL.

Electroneum is not a scam. I think the amount raised in the ICO was a surprise to them and their systems were definitely not up to scratch security (as they found out when hackers started to take an interest) so the ICO funds are delayed a month or so. Crappy and chaotic releases are unfortunately the norm for ICO's.

The problem was the block chain went live right before the hacking nonsense started so people can mine the coin but those with ICO funds just have to sit there and watch.

On the plus side they post regularly on social media and have been doing a lot of interviews to keep people informed.

Or is this post a scam? My sandwich I just ate was definitely a scam because it tasted like shit.

This does not look good:
https://www.bitsonline.com/bitcoin-gold-scam-btg/

"Coinbase, Bittrex Refuse to Support BTG

Two of the world’s most dominant crypto exchanges—Coinbase and Bittrex—have officially come out against supporting the Bitcoin Gold fork.

Coinbase is standing their ground as the BTG devs refuse to release the BTG code, which is a huge “red flag” for Coinbase’s compliance officers.

Bittrex—the 3rd largest exchange in the world—is refusing along similar lines:

“At this time, the information and codebase presented by the Bitcoin Gold team is not in a functional state and Bittrex will not commit to opening a Bitcoin Gold trading market.”

Hopefully everone will now stop mining this shitcoin and it will die and these people won't make anything from their crappy pre-mine. I'm still pissed pver the 8 hours I spent mining this for sod all.

Anyone mining on mine.pool.gold?seems like the balance stop updating on worker stats page, shares from miner accepted though...
Have a same question, balance not changing already couple of hours.

If you notice only balances not updated, other like "luck days" & hashrates are updating...

I had some 'immature' balance last night. All night mining and now the balance reads 0. Oddly enough the miners pool page now locks up all my browsers. This has been a shit-show since day 1. Copy and paste code. Pre mined. Nothing ready. No replay protection until they offered a bounty for someone to do it for them. Even now, with everything that has gone on I'm doubtful it's in and working and would not be surprised if people don’t lose their Bitcoins down the line.

The asic resistance is a good idea but this is a complete fuck up. There are other coins that already do a much better job (Vertcoin for one). There is clearly something going on here with gold and cash and China. I'm back to mining Zcash. They can shove this comedy up their asses. I doubt anyone will see any mining returns from this.

Oh. And the dump started instantly with the price almost halving overnight. So they clearly can't wait to get out.

$BTG Pool will go live in about 3-5h. This time is needed as the Devs are currently mining their premine (via the dev pool Smiley) You can mine already but it would be wasted hash as you'd just contribute to the premine and not get paid yourself until premining has ended

Ok I can understand the security side with the APP and site, but there is actually no reason they can not send out the ICO coins , they have all the data, they are really testing everyones patients, and no I dont want to dump them , I would prefer them under my control , cause my security will kill anything they have or will set up!! So I think even if they have to manually send out to every person there ICO coins then they should, cause the coders are coding (apparently), but there is a lot of other people just sitting around flapping there gums and making coffee, might be a idea to teach them how to send out transfers,

Agreed.

There's no excuse for them not releasing people's coins while they belatedly figure out how to build a one coin exchange, which is essentially what their mobile app is.

"Send us your ETN address and and we'll tx your ETN." Easy. All they need is a list of addresses and balances, and a simple script to feed them to a working daemon.

They either have the means to link an investor to their purchase, or they don't , and if they don't then the investors are all screwed.

Some people want the team to send the coins to their wallets manually? like seriously? are you sure you're not retarded or something? They will send to 100k+ wallets manually then your wallet will be at #99k, then you will cry here 'coz some people can dump their coin earlier than you! Transferring your own coin will give you equal chance as others (unless you f*cked up and overslept or something) to dump their coin earlier.

If you're afraid of the market, you're in the wrong game.

I think the reason they will not give the coins out manually to us is what if you are the last person to manually get their coins? The people they did first might have sold and the price down to nothing. I think everyone involved needs to get their coins released at the one time?

It is impossible for everyone to get there coins at the same time. It's a blockchain, limited txes per block. Those who invested soonest should be first to recieve.

what do you want? stolen coins or delayed launch?

once they re open the site the hakcers will automatically bomb the website and boom all coins stolen
why you still not understand that?
you want them to manually send the coins? goodness...

Did anyone actually mention a manual process? I think what people are requesting is a simple wallet or exchange address linked to their email for those who want their ICO funds. It doesn’t have to be manual and there is a desktop cli wallet already available. It would mean another job for them to do while they already have their hands full so I'm not sure it's the right way to go.

Re: 51% attack, possible with segwith2x?
by
drzed
on 08/11/2017, 10:13:18 UTC
So I've been reading an article on Coindesk recently, about a new possibility of a 51% attack.

Link here, https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoins-bogeyman-cometh-segwit2x-51-attack/.

From what I understood, it is the ability of a miner with 51% hashing power of the whole network to be able to control bitcoin transactions. They can possibly not confirm a transaction, change a transaction, and other awful effects. This attack almost happened 3 years ago with ghash.io mining pool almost reaching 51% (they were so close, when they reached 50% hashing power).

Now, fast forward to today, this attack is again looking possible because, from what I read, the segwit2x was being pushed by a group of miners, that, if combined, will result to 80% of the hashing power of the world. Well that is assuming the pool members will not leave their respective pools that joined the new york agreement. From my further readings, the people that met for the new york agreement had a close door meeting, hence there is no clear information that discloses what they talked about in there.

What if these people colluded to attack bitcoins using the 51% attack? Do you guys think this is a possibility and will those entities that are pushing for segwit2x attack the network?

You don't even have to have the full 51%. This is a real danger and there are solutions. I am not sure why the community hasn't been more vocal about this.

What if a country decided to launch a 51% attack on Bitcoin? China could do it quite quickly. North Korea? The cost of launching attacks to these countries is nothing.

Having said all this there are many Altcoins that as we speak have over 51% of the hashing power in the hand of one entity. Often mining pools. It's quite common and happened to Litecoin a couple of years back I think.

While I sympathize with the dev team, the fact of the matter is that this project has lost its buzz, let alone credibility.
The excitement and vibe is just not there anymore.
Even when they release the wallets anytime soon, the hype has moved on.
Massive supply and lukewarm demand.
Not the fire cracking exchange reception I was hoping for.

True but I'm sure once the ICO funds are distrubuted and the technical issues sorted they will focus on marketing again.

Those wanting to make a quick profit are stuffed now. And they are mad. I suspect when people get their Electroneum there will be a minor sell panic and the price will go below 1 cent at which point people will start to buy but the price will probably stabilise at a low level for a while.

Some people will unload at a loss and later regret it.

As things stabilise and the marketing push starts the price will rise. The short term profit angle is now gone. These guys made 40mill because of the marketing side of things and that is what they are good at. So let's see what happens. I see the future as being potentially very bright. Probably the best thing to do if you have ETN is just walk away and come back in two or three months. It may also help you retain your sanity.

'offered' them?

I suspect most of us were in a position to buy or mine at some point. With a bit of effort anyone around could have mined 100's. I thought it was just a fad so never got involved.

Ok, so want to get my coins out of cryptopia into existing wallet.
Its stating payment ID required? Is this generated in the cli wallet somehow?
Not much info as most have been dumping to the exchange rather than the other way round Smiley
Cheers

Coming back to your CLI wallet leave the id field blank (but make sure you have the correct address). Paying into Cryptopia you must send with the address and the payment id (supplied by Crypptopia). If you are not sure experiment with a very small ammount first.

A friend of me is right now at the ETN's Office and doing a Facebook live, where Richard is answering a few questions.

Look pic 1:

Here is one my the questions I have sent to the dev-team:
https://i.imgur.com/fLBMj3q.jpg

He will be recording the video and I will post it here once it's finished.

Really? Has he aged much? lol.

Seriously, I have issues with how this was handled and preparation in general for a release of this size (and have moaned and complained a bit myself) but I am impressed by the way it's being handled so far. Richard's PR is what sold this to many people and he seems to be doing everything he can. Keep it up and thanks for not throwing the towel in.

As soon as the wallet is accessible, the price will drop to the core of the earth  Grin

It could be days before the wallet is available. By that time the price will be so low that many people will just hold it and wait.

Hope Dick and his merry band of devs got a good nights sleep. Doubtful.

Good luck with the day ahead. 300k users waiting on what you do next must have a big big bunch of anxiety tied to it.

All the best, give the queen my regards.

I think the 40mill will ease his anxiety.
