Ive read the Security reasons but seriously

Can anyhone just upload the bootstrap?

Try this one.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/14J3YoQG-gTJQtSbXhkl3LKO0ZvzlSX1I/view

Got it from the discord channel:

AltJ - Last Tuesday at 08:46
Bootstrapping is a temporary fix for a network performance problem that the
wallet has with the initial sync.  This performance problem will be fixed in a
future version of the wallet, eliminating the need to use a bootstrap file.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS

Place the bootstrap.dat file inside of your ECC datadir and restart your daemon

Your datadir is most likely in
Windows - C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\eccoin
Linux - ~/.eccoin

Once the bootstrap is loaded, the daemon will rename the bootstrap file to
bootstrap.dat.old and download any remaining blocks from the network.

In case the import is interrupted, you can rename bootstrap.dat.old back to
bootstrap.dat and restart the daemon.  It will skip through the blocks that
have already been imported.

It is safe to delete bootstrap.dat.old

You can get assistance with the bootstrap on the ECC #bootstrap slack channel.
For an invite to join the ECC slack, see http://ecc.network/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ADDITIONAL NOTES
This method of loading the blockchain eliminates the network overhead of the
daemon downloading the blockchain.  The time to load the bootstrap.dat is
entirely dependent on your system's resources (CPU, disk, etc...)  In testing,
I was able to load the entire bootstrap in less than 4 hours on my laptop with
an SSD drive.

There is a possible risk of downloading the raw blk00001.dat,blk000002.dat,...
files as a bootstrap.  The risk is that someone could have maliciously altered
the blocks that would put you in an invalid fork of the blockchain.  Loading the
bootstrap.dat file is a better method.  The reason it's better is because each
block is verified as it's imported.  It uses the same verification process as
downloading the blockchain over the network.

The 200 confirmations is kinda ridiculous. I've seen a few exchanges do that with a few coins. Just curious, any idea why they do that? The wallet just requires 6 confirmation. Sending GUN to Cryptopia translates to about 7-9 hours of wait time. Whereas sending from the exchange to your wallet is pretty quick... like a few minutes  Huh

Im trying to update to v1.3 wallet on the mac and getting this error:

Any ideas? Im on Sierra 10.12.6. The previous version (v1.2) was opening fine, but had the 1111111 in the address problem.

EDIT: Actually no... everything looks fine. I deleted everything except the wallet.dat and reopened. Its working and syncing. It was showing that error when the old files were still in the directory Smiley

Anybody seeing an error when withdrawing from Cryptopia? Says its not a valid Gun Address. The address all weirdly start with "1111111111111111111111....". Is that normal?

I just logged into Cryptopia and saw no issues - is it your GUN address in your wallet?  That means you loaded V1.2 running Linux and did not follow all the instructions from Bushstar.  Might look at my notes from earlier or PM him for help.  I had an existing wallet there, so maybe that is why mine worked.

No I'm on a Mac and running the mac wallet from the website / OP. Yes im talking about my address on the wallet... it all starts with many 1s after i updated to v1.2... im not really sure what i need to do in order to fix things (i just read buststar's message as that was talking about linux wallet.) Sorry... bit of a technical noob when it comes to these things. Should I just wait for a newer mac wallet to come out? Are the coins in my wallet safe?

Hello,
It is good to see more users of GUN.
I wish I could help with a specific answer, but all I can really say is that the wallet should work fine.
I recommend to double check that the file name is correct and re-add what appears to be the available current nodes and try again.
There were some others having issues with the wallet a few pages back and got it figured out after some trial and error.
Maybe read back in this post and see if there are any answers there.
Wishing you luck.

Please add this list to the OP. Had a hard time wading through the forum pages to find this.  It doesnt work with just the three nodes mentioned in the current OP. Also, is there a slack channel for GUN? Or is bitcointalk the preferred medium for communication and discussions?

Any idea why CoinExchange show a warning about issues with the wallet and to withdraw in small amounts? Or has it already been fixed and its just a matter of CE not updating their website?

Re: Can we Force newbie's to use Escrow or delete the thread???
by
dwink
on 06/10/2017, 10:07:10 UTC
@ Mods & Community,

I vote for both:
1. Escrow must be accepted by all sellers, however they have the option to additionally not use escrow when selling as long as they offer it.

2. All sellers must post an asking price in their selling threads

All seller threads not offering escrow or listing an asking price would be locked immediately. This is similar to how it works on reddit r/hardwareswap and works very well (they mostly use paypal instead of escrow though)

Yup... that's fair... if both the seller and buyer doesn't want escrow, then that's their gamble. Sellers with asking price is an excellent idea as well. None of that "PM me for prices" nonsense. Exceptions only for customized items/services where the price depends on buyer's specifications/requirements.

Did you register just to post this??
or is this a "new" account from another member who may be trying to sell shit withOUT Escrow?? lol

No, i just give my opinion i am not selling anything and i am not saying you should buy without escrow, i said i understand some people who will
not accept it because only the buyer is protected and also to be careful.

And i don't have any other account, i checked for a long time on this forum the topics and now created an account.

What makes you think the seller isn't protected. If the item is as per description, then the money is released to the seller. If the seller says it works, and the buyer says it doesnt, then its only common sense that the buyer returns the product and the money released back to the seller after the tracking number confirms receipt. The only loss for both parties is shipping costs... so not sure why either party would subject themselves to that loss. Escrows are trusted members of the community who are mediators who resolves disputes, dictate the terms of the trade, suggest fraud prevent measures that's fair for both parties. They are not just a mechanical third party who holds the money till the buyer receives their item. An escrow is putting up his reputation on the line for a win-win fair trade to take place... and that is usually more priceless than the value of the item sold.

I agree that
But there some coins like rupee, India which are operated by non Indian people

LOL... its a ticker symbol. One doesnt have to be Indian to make a coin called Rupee. Just like one doesnt have to be American to make a coin called USD. One does not also have to be an alien to make aliencoin or a bird to make feathercoin.
