Re: How safe is Bitcoin? ✅
by
edjames
on 01/07/2018, 21:53:37 UTC
As long as your private keys are safe your bitcoin is safe. Because it is merely impossible to breach into another's wallet without knowing private keys. So keep your private keys safe. Best use offline wallet to ensure security.

Yes, this is probably the most sane comment here. Rather than focusing on what type of wallet to use, concentrate on the keys. However, any online wallet is essentially trusting a 3rd party to do a good job with security, which, as we've seen, they don't tend to be very good at.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this, and if it does transpire and a (genuine) book is published, I think it will be a great time for crypto and BTC especially

Re: Bitcoin will kill itself
by
edjames
on 01/07/2018, 21:38:26 UTC
One of the best features of Bitcoin is it's anonymity. This is also one of the reason why countries are banning or at least hesitant to embrace the technology. From money laundering to illegal drug transactions to human trafficking. We always blame the FUD from mainstream media, financial institutions like banks, the government etal. But do you think, the one that would "kill" Bitcoin is actually the nature of it.

Here's another news where Bitcoin was being used in an illegal activity. This will raise a lot of eyebrows because it concerns our children.

http://www.news.com.au/finance/money/investing/bitcoin-could-become-illegal-after-its-blockchain-was-discovered-containing-child-abuse/news-story/bf486e6e8de453fd7ad2abba019952dd

Cash has been used for all of the above for decades, and provides just as much anonymity, which is why many governments are pushing for the cashless society. And while BTC transactions are anonymous, they don't happen in a vacuum, especially when used for illegal activity. Just because BTC was used as a payment method, it doesn't mean the criminals have removed all traces of being found.

Re: Why didn't Warren Buffett invest in Bitcoin?

As other people have said, crypto is generally for the younger generations. People over 50, especially rich people over 50 have built their wealth using older, more traditional methods and see no reason to suddenly swap their investment strategies in something they don't really understand. if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it, tends to be their motto.

Re: Can we make sure that our money we invest in Bitcoin is safe?

Practising safe computing is one thing. While there will always be people trying to take what isn't theirs, we need to take responsibility in protecting our information, rather than trusting some other company to do it for us.

Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ?
by
edjames
on 01/07/2018, 21:24:57 UTC
Do you think the media is trying to destroy Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ? I think they show 95% of the times only bad news. Why is this happening ?

The media are biased towards bad news, no matter what the topic is. Also, if you've ever read an article by someone in the media trying to write about a subject you know a lot about, you can see how badly written it is, and that the writer knows next to nothing, with the piece full of mistakes. Now, multiply that shoddy writing technique across all the articles they write and realise how terrible and factually incorrect most media reporting is.

Re: Its time to move on, and ignore the BTC !!!

For me it's clear, from the moment BTC went to the Dow it slide down and be played by the big boys.
More and more we see up's and down's controlled by some big players between 6000 and 7500.
Alt coins are following that vibe, and some step out the line but be pushed in the direction the big players want.
I ask myself who is behind it, are governments behind it that not like the BTC and want it pushed down to get people frustrated.
So frustrated that many of us, get sick and tired of the up line pushed down already few time around 7400.
Ofcourse we are human, and after some push down's, we want to be strong and not give up.
But we also not want to be that person that miss the boot, where the rest break and sell the BTC.
It's almost 12 o clock when this price will go up around 7400 again, and drops down again i see a huge drop coming.
And the faith in going up higher, will be lost more and more. And that is what they want.

So what are you going to do ?   Am I wrong ?      It's massive indoctrination dunn by huge selling dumps.

We have 2 options Guys, let them play with us and let them win.

Or show them that BTC is much stronger then some Jealous scary Government, they need to be stopped.

We can only win this battle if you leave your finger off the Sell button.

Succes gr Bas  sorry for shitty English

There will always be people and cartels that try to manipulate markets for profits. This technique is as old as the hills and there's not really much that can be down. However, that doesn't means that BTC is dead - far from it! I predict that the value of BTC will continue to steadily increase over the coming years

Re: $300 million transferred for 4 cents in fees!

This is what I like in crypto and blockchain. You can send any amount to anyone in any country at any time and the fee will remain same plus the transaction takes place rapidly and you can actually trace whether it has happened or not. This is the future Smiley

Yes, I think this is a very good feature. A lot of politicians like to talk about the dark markets and illegal activity undertaken via BTC, but the transparency of the transaction is a very good thing.

I think this is useful and will benefit cryptocurrencies in general. I also think it's a step in the right direction in bringing crypto to the attention of the masses, as well as helping to educate people about the difference between crypto and ICOs

Re: Is it enough?
by
edjames
on 01/07/2018, 21:13:19 UTC
The number of bitcoin is only 21 million, is that enough for the future?
given the vision of bitcoin to become world currency?

what do you think of this?

Yes, it will be enough, given that 1 BTC can be broken down into much smaller denominations. Also, only a percentage of the population will ever use it, so it's not as if everyone on the planet needs to own BTC.
