You need to mine a Genesis block. Here is a thread that should help.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1030365.0

Hello to all,

I'd like to start making a new step.

I would like to create my blockchain and new cryptocurrency, to really see how this tecnology can do.

some of you have already done?

ciao a tutti,

Grazie

bitcoin is really secure? question about mining pool...

Hi,
I have seen on blockchain.info that over 50% of the total hashrate is controlled by 3 mining pools. How do we know that they don’t come to an agreement to control the entire network Bitcoin allowing for example the double spending?

Blockchain size ? (knots/miners/transaction)
by

Hello everybody,

I want to know how big a blockchian must be to work properly, and for the production of its results?

I’ll try to explain better?

How many knots (computer) that a blockchain have need for certificate the transaction, and for ensure a good level of security?

How is the minimum number of miners for an blockchian for work good ?

there is a critical mass of (knots and miners) that an blockchain must achieve to produce its best results?

If I want start an altcoin project which is the size (miners, knots,  block, transaction) that the my blockchian must have to be secure and efficient?

thanks a lot!!! Wink

i'm talking about confirmation time?

and i' m curious if there is an alt coin that is a good compromise between time and level of security?

First thing to be aware of is that confirmation is unnecessary in many situations in bitcoin. In those situations, transactions can be considered to be nearly instant and confirmation time is unimportant.

Next thing to be aware of is that bitcoin provides orders of magnitude more security than any other decentralized crypto currency right now.

Finally, 10 minutes is a very short time to wait in those few situations where it isn't safe to accept an unconfirmed transaction.

Therefore, with immense security and short 10 minute confirmation times on average, it would seem that bitcoin provides the best compromise between time and level of security.

*Next thing to be aware of is that bitcoin provides orders of magnitude more security than any other decentralized crypto currency right now

bitcoin spend more time for confirm different transacion? if the risk is big or the amount is big, more time... and if the risk is low and the amount is little, less time... correct?

what do you think about ripple? and the sistem of confirmation time

ahahahahahah  Smiley Smiley Smiley

sorry probably i have some problem to explain.

in this day i have studied the alternative coin (like Litecoin Ripple, Black ecc ecc), and i have seen that some of those try to attack bitcoin, because they are more fast in trasaction or in minig process.

This is wrong?

I assume you are talking about confirmation time not transaction time. Transaction time is commonly understood as the time it takes for the other party to know a transaction exists. Bitcoin does this in a matter of seconds, I doubt any alt is faster in that regard.

Confirmation time is something completly different. Its the time it takes for your transaction to be in a block. For bitcoin the average time for a new block is 10 minutes and IIRC the average time for the first confirmation is ~5-7 minutes. This varies of course and there are some alt coins out there that want to make you think their coin is better because their average time for the first block is e.g. 1 minute. Keep in mind though that less time between two blocks means also more work wasted, because it creates a higher chance for orphans. This will make the alt coin network less secure, because it would need more resources to offer the same level of security (to prevent a 51% attack). Besides that an alt coin is typically less secure because less people are invested into it and thus less overall hashing power is spent on the alt coins network.

To sum this up, yes you can lower the time between two blocks, but its a trade off with network security. For miners a higher time between blocks is preferable, because it lowers the risk of orphans and thus of wasted work (considering a PoW coin).

yes thanks i'm talking about confirmation time?

Hi everybody,

i would like to know, if there is an altcoin that can do the transaction in real time, or in a very very short time.

Hi,

i would to know, what are the main importatnt alternative cryptocurrency to bitcoin??? example: litecoin, megacoin.....

- Why these kind of coin have need to exist? because bitcoin have some problem, or issue, and this type of coin are born to resolve this issue, or for another mission?

- this other coin can work with the same process of bitcoin (blockchain, private and pubblic key, process of mining??)

- the alternative cryptocurrecy can be considered a true alternative of bitcoin or these are weak to challege bitcoin??

Thanks

Hi.

Your questions are very debatable and this can simply start a flame war.
Best alt-coin? Hard to tell. Some are old, some have big fan base, some are anonymous. Some are bitcoin clones (with few or with big changes), some are built from scratch.
Some have big advertising (cough Dark/Dash cough..), some ... need more checking to be discovered. You'll have to do your own detective work and see which altcoins deserve your attention.

About problems: some claim anonymity and it's not sure that they actually provide it. Some can be mined by ASICs, some with GPU, some only CPU. Some are PoS (you only keep wallet open, no big resources for mining). Some are cheap IPO/ICO scame.

Afaik have blockchain, but for some you will not see that much info like for Bitcoin (like top100 richest wallets and the amounts in them). Mining can be done with hard work (PoW), only wallet open (PoS), by providing HDD space, ... maybe some others I don't know.

Some anonymous coins have a tough fight trying to be the anon alternative to bitcoin. Some just use TOR, some are college clones, some are just scam. Some are dead coins.

I will just tell the altcoins I like, for various reasons: XMR, DOGE, FIBRE, XMG. I will not tell that they are best. Time will tell if my choices were any good.

Good luck in your search!

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

Hi,

i would to know, what are the main importatnt alternative cryptocurrency to bitcoin??? example: litecoin, megacoin.....

There isn't "important" altcoin but there are "most used" altcoins. Litecoin, Dogecoin, NXT are some of them.

- Why these kind of coin have need to exist? because bitcoin have some problem, or issue, and this type of coin are born to resolve this issue, or for another mission?

Some coins came with a few features which Bitcoin doesn't have. But most coins came into existence to scam people.

- this other coin can work with the same process of bitcoin (blockchain, private and pubblic key, process of mining??)

As They are coins made cryptographically, they work almost same. However, there are different algorithms for different coins. Private key and public key works similarly but coins using different algorithms, private keys and public keys will be(look) different. They are various way how a coin is minted. Bitcoin uses POW for it but other coins uses POW, POS etc...

- the alternative cryptocurrecy can be considered a true alternative of bitcoin or these are weak to challege bitcoin??

Altcoins aren't a "challenge" to Bitcoin at any means.

Thanks

Anytime.

Thanks your answers are very complete and useful for me!!!
