Hi, I will give away a free digital copy of Wolfenstein 2 on PS4 for the first person that replies (bought it for myself, but the code doesn't work in south africa, only USA
thank you for the info. very good system. maybe possible to scale down the system to have a DIY cheap system. I live in Thailand. I am also looking for a solution to use the heat produced by the crypto mining and at the same time reduce the temperature of the air (crazy starting ideas (not always good): sauna, heat the water for showers, use heat for doing some foods (yoghourt, smoked meat, etc), use heat to accelerate the growth of some vegetables, find some bacteria that needs heat to do some useful job).
other ideas are welcome.
Wow, those are some great ideas, I am very keen to look into some of them. As for the Adsorption system- for now I don't think, it's a viable idea, but I think it would be something to look out for in the future.

Using Adsorption Chillers to cool mining facilities
I thought Avalon only require 1300 W total. I changed to 2x750 EVGA G2. Its getting better now at -2 and -1. How do you check the wattage of the 12V connection?
There should be a sticker on the Power Supply saying which wattage each rail gets.
Having compared yours with mine, the only big difference I noticed is that your's ECHU is [16 0 0 0] where mine is [0 0 0 0]. Tried searching what that means, but couldn't find anything, maybe some other member can clarify. Also have you tried running it with a voltage offset of 0? Just curious what it would give then.
I ran it at -2. If i set it at 0, it will restart after 5-10 mins
Look at the System Log tab, that might provide some clues. See what's happening around the time the hashrate is dropping to zero. Maybe there is something happening with dhcpd, etc.
The 741 has a watchdog running that will reboot the system ~5 minutes if it hasn't sent work or if the ASIC stops responding or if the cgminer API isn't accessible to the local host. If the machine reboots on voltage of 0, it's likely that the ASIC is dropping a board (or a row of chips) prompting the watchdog to reboot. Swap your PSU and see if that helps.
That said, have you made any changes to the API addresses in the cgminer config tab? That one drove me crazy for a day... 127.0.0.1 must have access to the API, default is "W:", but I'm not sure if it needs write access.
Good luck!
I returned the 2x750W Corsair for 2x750W G2 EVGA. it was stable for 12 hours at -2. the longest running since i got the miner. The moment i switched to 0. it ran for an hours, then restart. Im trying -1 now. will see what happen
I had one of mine running with 2x750W Corsair power supplies, and they weren't giving enough power on the 12V rail, which led to them running at less than 7TH and rebooting every few hours. However, after I changed it to 850W PSU's they are now happily running at about 7.2TH. Could you perhaps check what is the wattage on the 12V rail? Now not sure if you have the same Corsair Power Suplies, but that could be your problem, could you perhaps check what is

If someone you knew had six 741s, power supplies for each and the controllers basically a plug in and go setup how much BTC would be a fair trade for them if the deal was done tomorrow?
I know they can be bought new with PSU for around 1k each but it will be months before you get them.
I'd consider paying about 8k for it, off course it also depends on your electricity price, as a higher price would mean you need to pay less for the same hardware to break even
that is the twin effect of bitcoin as it rises and popularize over the time hehehehe especially because it has a high value which attracts people attention right? but it is good for us and because of that the payment method will be much more easier to get hahahahah.. and much lower cost fee spreading because of popularity and HIGH valued price ,, also us making bitcoin known to other via social media etc heheheheh
Yes indeed, and in the end it will start a big snowball effect, and with bitcoins being so limited, I think it's safe to say that bitcoin wont stop climbing very soon
good to hear that even in schools bitcoin has been talked about. not only bitcoin but cryptocurrencies i prefer. due to this emerging popularity and so many advertisements of bitcoin, lots of people are curious already and started to wonder what are those investments that are good in a long term purpose, although some investments requires big amount of money to start, here you can have small amounts and start little by little until it grows, and since bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are volatile, it has been taken advantage and mistakenly identified as an investment, but the real purpose of it is to be an actual currency.
I tried to steer away from other Cryptos, talked a bit about a few good ones, But with all these ICO scams going on and coins being pumped and dumped I thought until someone has more knowledge about Cryptocurrencies they should first stick to Bitcoin.
So today one of my teachers came to me after school. She and some of her colleagues talked about ways that they can invest their money and save up (as teachers in South-Africa aren't really paid well) one of them then mentioned Bitcoins and how Cryptocurrencies are showing very high growth. Then some or other teacher mentioned that I have some knowledge about Bitcoin (still have no idea how they knew that) But anyway long story short- Tomorrow I am doing a presentation for all my school's staff +/- 50 people about Cryptocurrencies, and then possibly to the whole school. Yeah, just some short story I thought I would share, about a practical example of how Bitcoin is reaching the masses.
I think you should explain with the risks that can be faced anytime. not just from the benefits alone, many beginners see only from the profits but dont want the risks.
U're right. Pls do well to stress the risk too very important.
Yes I did indeed

Thanks again for all the advice and motivation guys. The presentation went well, and in my opinion was a HUGE success. Although most of the staff had trouble understanding some of the technical aspects of bitcoin, they sure all understood when I showed them a graph of Bitcoins past growth I helped 6 teachers, including our Headmaster setup accounts on Luno (a local bitcoin exchange) and showed them how to buy Bitcoin from there, and gave two old Antminer U3's for our computer teacher (who was really fascinated with the blockchain and how it worked) to play with. The staff really seemed impressed with what opportunities bitcoin could bring to the table, and I spent nearly an hour after the talk answering questions and explaining some concepts. Of course I also mentioned some of the risks, like when I sent 0.4 Bitcoin instead of 0.4 Bitcoin Cash to Shapeshift and lost it all *facepalm*, the high transaction fees, and the fact that we can all wake up tomorrow to see our bitcoins worth trash(Highly doubt that would ever happen though) but in general, the response was really possitive. NOW if of those 56 staff members, only 10 of them each tells 10 of their friends about bitcoin, we can get a snowball effect going in this area Really excited for the way forward!!
I almost had the same experience as you. Our teacher assigned us to do a research on what topic we would like to present so I thought of Bitcoin. I introduced Bitcoin to them and told them what it can do. Sadly, they didn't react a bit. It seems that in my country (or atleast in my place), people at my age (17-20) don't have any interest when it involves virtual money. So good luck presenting Bitcoin in your place, I hope it gets successful and not as awkward as mine.
Ahh, Im sorry to hear about your experience mate, yes some people can be very Stuborn

Very good story. I am also a student and, due to my knowledge of the bitcoins, I agreed on a mutual service for writing my graduation work. Knowledge for knowledge and this is the most expensive currency in the world.
It's great to hear of other young people that share the same passion that I have!
