New mobo=half hash rate? Wtf
by

So i recently had the ram fail on my rig(sapphire rx580 8g and asus rx470 4g mining)and during my troubleshooting i accidentally bent some pins in the cpu port of my b150m bazooka mobo. So i bought a brand new b250m-ds3h and of course a new ddr4 stick. Fresh versionof windows 10 went flawlessly as did the install of the latest radeon drivers but now for some reason the 470 is throwin an error code and windows turns it off. The 580 is only getting like 18 mh/s on eth. I had the bios flashed on both and i was getting 31-32 mh/s wit the 580 and 28-29 with the 470. I have everything set up just like before and both cards were working fine before the ram failed..what could've happened to cause such a drop? Moreover why is the 470 now inoperable?? I tried swappin pcie slots and tried both by themselves, tried usin ddu and reinstalling the drivers. Just keep gettin code 43 on the 470 and low hash on the 580..cant figure it out.

My solution sell 470 and buy sapphire 580.
cut your losses and give up is hardly good advice..thanks tho Tongue

this is why its a good practice to just separate different series of gpus, less hassle in the end. the masses of people like yourself just don't learn
Thanks for your input but Im still pretty new to this, its a learning curve. ease up a bit maybe  Cool

I feel you bro, I have one rig with mixed AMD and Nividia and doing headache, anyways, looking at your prob I have a feeling it might be the clock issue, did you use MSI afterburner to do clocks? since this is a different cards it should be configured on each card.

just ensure that amd drivers is in Compute mode.
Yeah I do them both individually using afterburner.  I prefer afterburner or something similar over bios flashing, its a little safer, easier to fine tune and change for different currancy. The adjust, flash, restart, test and repeat method is just way too tedious. Same reason I prefer the copy&paste method of modifying the straps. I dont know enough about it to tweak em to the max. For eth I just adjust the mem clock to get the highest hash rate and then underclock the core till it starts droppin. Seperately I can get about 30 mh/s with the 580 on crimson and about 25 mh/s with the 470 on asus...right now together on adrenaline Im getting about 25 and 19, which really isnt bad i guess but just knowing theyre both capable of more drives me nuts..

Im starting to wonder if all this could possibly be due to this "Mining Edition" of the RX470. Everything about it has been a little off. Timing straps and clock adjustments both took a little extra finesse to nail down. It has no hdmi ports, its just a strange variation in general. Seemed like a good investment at the time(probably 4 am with dilated pupils)

@leonix007   The latest 18.2.1 drivers claim to support both as well.  Ive tried them all after first uninstalling any trace of the cards from the computer and The RX470  is only recognized for what it is by its own ASUS drivers and performs by far the best with them. Crimson, adrenaline or any other amd driver all drop the 470s hashrate by 10%-20%. probably due to the mis identification as a 570 and the Asus drivers are even worse for the sapphire 580. I have already flashed modified bios onto both cards, which made some improvements but If I want max performance, which, who doesnt? Im going to need to use both drivers... there has got to be a way. My Intel IGD drivers run flawlessly alongside either the Asus or AMD drivers, doesnt effect either card in any way. So it is definitely possible...just gotta figure out how....come on bitcointalk.org community....I will for sure hook somebody up with a minimum of .0001 btC for a solution.

Help! AMD Driver Problems *REWARD*

I have 2 cards, ASUS RX470 4G mining edition and Sapphire Rx580 8G..They both do great by themselves but I cant get them both to run at the same time on different drivers. No matter which drivers I install in which order, one of them tries to run both cards. Even the Crimson blockchain drivers, which dont even the support the 470, automatically label it a 570 and installs 570 drivers, which dont work very well on the 470. When I uninstall 1 card during installation, as soon as I restart with the other card in, the drivers take over both cards. So I am stuck either running ASUS drivers on my 580 or The Crimson drivers on my 470, robbing one or the the other of hash rate. EVen the recommended Adrenaline drivers also label it a 570. If it was just the label, I would say fuck it but thats not the case, the 570 drivers on the 470 dont work right.  I just want both cards to run at their max potential, there has got to be a way to lock in the drivers for one card before installing the next .  ANy help or advice would be much appreciated.

Mining with other forms of hardware

This might be a stupid question but forgive me, I am still relatively new to mining and still dont fully understand all the "ins and outs" But Im wondering what it is about graphics cards that makes them the #1 or at least top 3 methods of mining. From what I understand, its all about processing power combined with controlability on a pc interface. makes sense but whats to stop somebody from hacking and mining with a high end smart tv for example? Or maybe a ps4, Xbox1 etc?  GPUs arent the only circuit boards out there that are connected to the internet and capable of processing hi res/ hi def video. What gives GPUs their unmatched hash power?

Simple driver update gone way wrong
by

SETUP
MSI B150M BAZOOKA PLUS LGA 1151 Intel B150 Plus
4GB DDR4
Intel Celeron G3920 Dual-Core 2.9 GHz
Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 580 8GB
Asus VCX Mining RX470 4GB

I tried to install the Non-WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.10.3-Oct27 after running DDU and the installation appears to go smoothly until th very end and then I get a failure message (1603).. Tried again and then it said I had partially installed drivers, obviously.. So I uninstalled them manually and then even ran DDU once again, just to make sure...Restarted and tried again only to have it reach the very end, again and fail, again. So I gave up on crimson and decided to revert back to the factory drivers but now even those wont install from the disc or from AMDs website. I even jumped the bat pins and reset the bios, ran the shit out of DDU and its just the same thing over and over..  The Log file is jibberish to me, maybe one of you can help me before I call AMD and chew ass about my brand new card fuckin up using with their own software.

I got 1 more question for ya'll if you would be so kind. I keep hearing "disable windows updates" Does that mean all of them, right after the install? security updates, net framework, everything? Or is it just before the driver/bios mods and such, to avoid any reversals or interference from windows? keep in mind I am running windows 7 pro..I already know i should be on 10 but my buddy had a clean install of 7 and I got in trouble with charter a while back for torrenting so ive been trying to avoid it.

@leonix007 @gomeZLTC @jillscarbrough @Mapuo......Thanks for your input as well as the links, Ive heard this before but I was told there should be a small switch on the board but i sure as hell couldnt find it. If all I need is software, this shouldnt be an issue. Ill post results asap.

You don't need to to use atipatcher with rx580.
9/10 disagree so Ill go ahead and use it

Just use NVIDIA - GTX
I wish I would have, especially after learning about the growing DAG size. Unfortunately I am already invested in the AMD route and im not quite ready to give up that easy. Thanks though, you're probably right.

Please can someone recommend an effective mining
Rig for me as I will like to go into mining.
Please don't forget to specify price
And where I can buy them from.
Thanks.
Really?  I take it your also a newb to forums, google and youtube..I spent days researching crypto mining before I even thought about a purchase. and then another day or 2 crunching hash rate to price ratios and debating how much i want to spend vs how much i want to make. I suggest you do the same but f you want the easy route, Go get some Titan V's or maybe just a Baikal Giant.. Ill let you figure out how much they cost. Not tryin to dis a fellow newb but your misguided out of place post was borderline disrespectful to the people who actually put in the work to get what they want.

Somethings not right with my rx 580

Most people say that basically the entire RX series is best at the dagger hashimoto algorithm but for some reason my RX 580 8GB doesnt do so well. 90% of the time equicash is the most profitable. and even those numbers arent really up to par from what ive read. Profitability calculator says I should be making $2+ per day with this card. Currently get about 290 sols/s equicash...Dagg/hash I only get about 16 MH/s..I do a little better in SMOS than I do in Windows but not much. The crimson drivers helped a little but I tried over and underclocking, either way, any adjustment slows it down.  Maybe thats all Im gonna get? Idk, any help would be appreciated, I am still somewhat new to this.

Re: How to OC an RX 580 in smOS

I know this is old but did you ever benchmark some good oc numbers for your RX580? I tried several different adjustments with mine and couldnt get it any better than the stock oc. From what I read, you actually under clock the memory but nothin worked for me. Depending on which 580 u have, there is a bios oc switch somewhere on the board. gives it a nice little boost literally with the flick of a switch.
