No one knows why markets do what they do but some say whales are weeding out the giant herd of weak hands who bought in when bitcoin surged to 19,000 and alts followed. I've also heard that people selling to pay their taxes is a contributing factor. All we really know is that markets go up and down.

They are only as safe as your knowledge, research and experience make them. There is no safety in crypto except in yourself. Learn, study and go slowly and you're confidence will increase.

Consider yourself lucky. You have learned the most valuable lesson in Crypto. Never sell in panic. Always keep some fiat set aside for times of panic sell offs for buying. Getting a good low buy on things is most important because then you can hold easier through sell offs. If you buy high it is very hard to weather a big sell off. Concentrate on making great buys and you will come to love sell offs for the buying opportunities.

Well, I'm patient and in no hurry. I think you're wrong in two years for recovery, but I'm working on a five year time period for my trades so I'm good whatever happens. I figure one good bull run in the next five years is all I'll need.

For anyone who has been getting the password invalid when you try to log in, here is the solution that worked for me. I was unable to log in to my local wallet (the cryptobridge app on my computer). It always asked me to log in to cloud wallet (which is the web version). When I tried to input my password it would say password invalid and I was locked out. Turns out that for the local wallet login you must go to your settings and under general near the bottom you will find a choice of cloud wallet login or local wallet login. I was on cloud wallet login and I didn't have a cloud wallet only local. After changing it to local wallet login I was able to log in with my password. Took me 3 months to fix this simple, but extremely frustrating problem, so I wanted to have this here for others who will probably run into the same problem.

The window for small investors to be able to participate in ICO's is closing. More and more, the quality ICO's are asking for 50 or 100 ETH minimums and holding private pre-sales for the wealthy. Little guys should get what they can while the getting is good.
