Re: I guess personal wallets are a thing of the past now.
by
elementaryOS

Not really a 'thing of the past since there are still many altcoins out there that had their own client wallet. To be honest, back then I used to think any new altcoin without a proper client wallet is trash and shouldn't invest in. Can't blame me since it was the days where many ERC20 tokens with very lazy and low effort dev so we had to have some standard back then.

But things change and so with some already point out in this thread, the inconvenience and risk of many wallets dwarfed by the convenience on one in many ecosystem.

Re: Coinmarketcap's New Feature "Earn"
by
elementaryOS
on 03/09/2020, 19:40:26 UTC
I see, coinmarketcap is really having good features now and I would say there is bit competition between coinmarketcap and coingecko. A friend once told me about a feature from coingecko that coinmarketcap adapted and I know as coinmarketcap has its own unique feature, coingecko would go for another unique one. but I really do admire the competition anyways, it shows both team are really doing well.
Coinmarketcap and Coingecko don't need to trying to top other one since both site have their own use, earn feature, or not. After the result of the coin having a promotion with earn feature on CMC, I can't say I'm impressed with this feature at all.

I think I was a holder. I don't have much time spend on crypto so I take up the role nicely. Just check and follow crypto news related to the coin I hold and that it. Have centain price on my mind already and wishing it will come true for a few years for my bag.

Sometimes you have to give credit to a few scammers. They clearly know how their victims thinking and lay a trap that at least there will a few people got caught in their game. But that's only a little amount, most people fell for scam because of their own faults: greed.

Re: Reason hunters dump reward as soon as received. Trust Exchange etc

I laughed at every time people complain that bounty hunters know nothing about the coin they got from bounty and just dump it on the market at any price. Maybe that only for the coin which only worth less than $50. If it worth more, we, bounty hunters have a lot of factors to determine if we should hold or sell like OP's post.

Find anyone willing to buy your coin and sell it. Don't tell me you thought that the only way cryptos can be traded is thru exchange alone? Make sure you trading with escrow service since there is always scammer looking for quick bucks.
Seems like you didn't know this project. Batcoin is an abandoned project, so, if he will sell it to someone else, I don't think that there is someone who is willing to buy a useless coin. P2P is not an option here, he needs to move on since there is no way that a dead coin will be revived. All he has right now is just a useless coin.
Yep, look like this coin suffers the even worst fate than the exchange list this coin got hacked, an abandoned project. Guess all OP could do right now is really moving on this coin.

Another good reason why I don't trust exchanges with fake trade volume since they can create fake a pump like this. Wonder if the coin in cahoot with the exchange to bait many investors to their project by doing pumps like this?

Many of us even though only care about bounty opportunities but knowing about which exchange is bad and untrusted also helps if we deciding on bounty projects to participate in. Any bounty project list on these bad exchanges will receive a red flag from me.

Although I agree with you about the old market, I think today's market is at least better with plenty of regulations and trusted sites so scammers less likely cause rampant like before. At least, IEO is much better than ICO.

Re: Governments cannot control Bitcoin
by

The latter is more troublesome: "governments can go is to impose regulations on Bitcoin transactions especially on the exchange sites" which the most critical thing for the crypto's ecosystem. Many of us only use crypto thanks to its value and any hit or restriction to exchange sites is very bad.

HITBTC, stole my money, so Hitbtc, blacklist. They ask to go through KYC, but they do not give the withdrawal of money!

SOrry to be a bit pedantic, but do you mean "stole" as in, they had an issue with your KYC and you didn't bother answering? I've seen it happen too many times, it's just a matter of reading their emails thoroughly.

That's how I was able to finally get my KYC done, I realized the last few emails they had sent me all asked for a PHOTO of my passport, I was sending a scanned document, so I did, and once I sent the PHOTO as they had requested and it wasn't more than 2 hours that I Was able to use my account normally again. Maybe try contacting them once more and see if you can get your issue fixed!
To be honest, I have experience with HitBTC and their support is horrible. You may get lucky and have all your KYC done easily but no doubt, others will met trouble from HitBTC. Definitely HitBTC on my list for bad exchange.

Re: If someone mistakenly sent you 1 ETH, what would you do?
by
elementaryOS
on 17/08/2020, 10:41:41 UTC
Since there is no legal binding on the crypto address so I think most people wouldn't give back 1 ETH mistakenly sent to them. Even irl, there are plenty of scoundrels using someone else lost credit card or not returns people's money so in crypto world would be the same. I'm different tho so I would give back that 1 ETH.

Re: Bounty or Airdrop kill project?
by
elementaryOS
on 06/08/2020, 17:44:20 UTC
Ask yourself this: Does one or two or maybe even three Bitcoin could crash a project? Cause that's the bounty fund for most of the bounty programs. Bounty hunters don't get much from bounty program so if you think they are able to crash or making a price go low then you're out of your mind. Maybe they have some impact for a very small cap coin with maybe a few bitcoin for 24h trading volume but other than that, no.

Guess the hacker also wants to have Bitcoin after seeing some sign indicate price moving forward and market recovery. Who knows, maybe they're also a crypto follower and want to invest in crypto by utilizing their hacking skill to get it. Nothing is just a coincidence.

My finding on any project claims they will give you back fixed ROI when investing in their project after a certain time is a red flag that you should stay away.

You should add: 6. Never invest in something that you can't afford to lose. There is nothing really safe and riskless in crypto and you should be prepared for the worst possible.

Because they want to join the bandwagon of the rally and think they could get out before it hit ATH. Only a few made off with profit while a lot stuck with ATH price. If they can't control their greed, they will get rekt.

A lot of people don't know about timing. All they do is hodl without giving a though should they cut loss when it falling to take the fund and utilize it elsewhere.
