Trying the windows wallet..

You could use a cold minting address https://github.com/NeuCoin/neucoin/blob/master/doc/faq.md and keep the spending key out of your computer.

Should I expect any stake rewards any time soon ? not sure how the reward system works with Neu..

and I get this message, "Warning: No sync-checkpoint received for quite a long time."
I have the same message, but it's working. This message only means that Neucoin didn't synced checkpoint yet. Just check if your wallet is unlocked for minting and you good to go. How much you are trying to mint? If it's small amount it will take longer.

Got a new warning at bottom corner of wallet No sync checkpoint received for quite along time yet there is a check mark showing it is syned, whats up with that now?
This message doesn't mean that something is wrong on your end, it means that Neucoin haven't published any sync-checkpoint yet. You should also check if your wallet is unlocked for minting and you should be good.

Here is how to unlock:
"Unlock your wallet for minting: open the console via menu -> help -> debug window.
type: walletpassphrase YourPassword 31556926000 true (first param ist your password, second param a timeout until the wallet is locked again in milliseconds - one year in this example, third param defines that the wallet is only unlocked for minting - you cannot send coins until the wallet is fully unlocked with param set to false, but it is safer to keep it partly locked.)
Press Ctrl+L to clear the console after you run a command that includes your password!

For your grandma there is online Neucoin wallet https://www.myneucoin.com/en with two buttons.
