The details of the CAI to CAIx exchange may have been mentioned in many other places.  But it was absent from the two places where it should have been clearly explained.

Exactly. The info was confusing at best, more like deliberately misleading.

1. I take offense to the "newbie".
2. Just responding in kind to this guy. More fun than debating allegations
3. Are you sure there are no aliens in the government? Normal people don't behave like they do :-)
4. Thanks for your efforts to get Eligius back on its feet!

Why are a bunch of newbie accounts suddenly appearing and posting nonsense in the Eligius thread?

Just curious.

I think this guy is *totally* on to something!! Actually, it's probably even worse than just Eligius - BTC guild also just suspended payouts due to "technical problems"...
I am calling conspiracy - you read it here first. Probably all orchestrated by the same space aliens that have taken over the government.
Stock up on duct tape, bottled water and guns just in case!

Eligius still don't pay !

Just smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave.

Got rejected after 3 days of waiting, despite miniscule amount and decent pwd. Good to know that they are actually reopening accounts now!

Huge number of account reclaim requests? Really? What were they expecting?
Just got a response to my ticket regarding the missing reclaim email after 48 hrs: they closed the ticket, no comments/action whatsoever taken.
What will be tomorrow's excuse???

Good thing they are pretty much anonymous. If I were one of them, I'd be afraid to be held liable.

Oh internets.

Full of idiots like you.

owner-organization: Tibanne Co. Ltd.
owner-name: Mark Karpelès
owner-street: Cerulean Tower 15F
owner-city: Shibuya
owner-state: Tokyo
owner-zip: 168-0082
owner-country: JP
owner-phone: +81.345501529
owner-fax:
owner-email: contact@tibanne.com

and it is also on their website.

They are registered company.

You mean Mtgox != Silk Road != Bitcoin?? That's not what the Guardian told me.

Good thing that domain registration information is 100% reliable! Like everything else on the interweb.

Mt Gox is doomed. Everyone will bail and the market will crash. Of course they can always "roll it back" again :-)

The Mt. Crooks situation is getting worse and worse. Nobody's been processed, and trading is about to resume - for whom?
I bet they made this all up to steal the money, and are dragging it out until enough people lose hope and give up.
Even if they opened up, there would be a run on them causing another crash, which then would have to be "rolled back", etc etc.
Good thing they are pretty much anonymous. If I were one of them, I'd be afraid to be held liable.

Re: Is There A Good Reason To Still Be Calling BTC Money/Currency?

Until it is widely accepted in lieu of national currencies, "virtual commodity" sounds best to me. It is, after all, limited (unlike USD evidently) and inherently deflationary (unlike USD, again). Plus a commodity avoids the aforementioned regulatory issues.

To paraphrase you: Because it may be difficult, we should just give up.
I am not sure if I agree with this attitude. There's money to be made, so Bitcoin will prevail. Half of the stuff traded in exchanges is funny money, BTC seems darn tangible compared to that!

Re: What is best bitcoins pool?

My newbie experience over the last few weeks (midwest US location):

Deepbit is expensive, but has fast payout and is reliable
Slush seems to work best for me in terms of yield, stats are a bit basic
.LC is free but slow, functionality still a bit rough. Maybe later.
Guild is "free" but whines about donations, feels slow and did not yield as much as expected

Try each for a few days and measure how much they pay out. The bigger your sample size, the more accurate the results.

I have programmed before and I am in project management. There are ways of handling this more professionally. These guys are a bunch of yahoos and not a serious business. I am not convinced I will get my handful of BTC back given the lack of transparency of the whole process. I can't even figure out who and where these guys are! The problem is that BTC w/o a reliable exchange is pretty useless. Nobody else had nearly that traction.

they sure sell a helluva lot of high $ cards as a result of bitcoin mining. Try to buy a 6990... only on ebay for >> the MSRP! Guess it depends on how much attention mainstream media will pay to this endeavor.
