[ANN] Archon - trading framework and broker (Opensource)
by
enet
on 27/09/2018, 07:26:19 UTC
Archon is an opensource software library to trade against various Crypto exchanges. It is very generic, so that it can be reused for building e.g. trading strategies, reports (Profit and loss, balance), a streaming service.

For software driven trading several wrappers for API's exist, but they are generally catered to a single exchange. There are two projects that are generic gekko and CCXT. Archon caters mostly to professional traders, rather than just providing a thin wrapper.

It is written in python3 and MIT licensed.

https://github.com/economicnetwork/archon

Currently supported exchanges are: BITTREX, KUCOIN, KRAKEN, CRYPTOPIA, BINANCE.

Tools:

* balance report
* mailgun
* monitor orderbooks
* execute trades in a strategy

If you need further exchanges or requirements the project is open for contributions

I believe that ETC has already won. We waiting only for the right price.

What? Most exchanges will not accept it, if they learn about the risks. Most likely scenario: eventually the inconsistency will be resolved by voiding all ETC's.

Why should ETC tokens have value at all? The tokens depend on non-consensus of ETH and them moving over. Otherwise the snapshotted state has no meaning. The occurring fungibility problems are a huge red flag. Listing ETC is bad for the exchanges who have to deal with this. This really shows the issues with hard-forks.

ETC is ethereum pre-hardFork, so why not keep it and change ticker/name to the other ethereum hardfork to something like ETHF or ETF ?

ETH miners have been upgrading software given them from ETH team from the beginning - why should this upgrade by different? The issue is you can't get rid of the dev team like this. If you have a new team, you have a new coin (team roughly corresponds to commit rights).

Little doubt in my mind ETC holders will loose out from this valuation. Most holding ETC, previous ETH holders, don't use /accept them. ETC has no development team. As an exchange listing ETC means taking on huge risks, as we have seen.

It seems hard-forks are not well understood, in particular in relation to source code publishing. I guess we will see what happens? As a merchant and exchange I think there are a lot of risks associated with ETC (and ETH I guess).

you could use ColoredCoin tokens and let them convert to native currency once you're live. this allows you to sell less than 100%, but pre-launch. like NEM stakes, but based on Bitcoin. so you can fund your operations in stages and get higher valuation each time.

Re: F*** ICO's.

What we have right now are a lot of scum like beings utilizing a technology built with the highest of ideals to trick and steal.

In terms of a pure rational analysis there is no theft or fraud. Alice sends money to Bob, because she believes she will get something in return. So these are just risk factors. ICO's are an early, simple form of capital investment structures for blockchains. Instead of paying for all developing costs upfront, a project can raise funds (secured via escrow hopefully) and then recoup these with the float of a currency. Potentially there are other ways to pay for developer costs. Its a much better model than what Bitcoin has at the moment (sponsoring through the backdoor).

The world is full of noise and cycles. This was no different when the first Italian city states develop the foundations of modern commerce, Europeans started colonising the new World, the Industrial revolution in England brought forth the steam engine and capitalist production, Railroads, Electricity, the Internet, etc. It is best to focus on specific things one knows how to improve and run with it, rather than worrying about all the things one can not fix. Capital on the blockchain is a pretty interesting and valuable mechanism, just still very raw.

Many of your points are valid but there is no other forum like this one.  This is the center of the universe for bitcoin and alts.

Yes, nobody can argue with that. I guess at present people don't see an advantage of something new, as long as it does not exist. Better quality can be achieved by simply starting something new and setting the culture in a different direction. Deep discussion about the actual technology and its use is quite rare.

Re: 2B+ lumens will be awarded to projects built on Stellar

Stellar allows you to send and receive any type of currency. So it just means allowing people to deposit and withdrawal via Stellar in addition to whatever other deposit and withdrawal methods the exchange supports.

For example now on Kraken you can send a Sepa payment to deposit Euros. They could also accept Euros sent in via Stellar.

As an exchange operator I need banking connections to get a fiat backend. I don't know of any bank which supports Ripple/Stellar - only a few banks in the world deal with crypto at all. I guess I'll never understand this concept. To move fiat in the banking network one needs to be a bank.

If you make a forum which also lists the users hodlings and their IQ level im in!

Trust-ratings can be done on-chain. The forum should integrate with blockchains. BTT looks like its from the 90's. Likely it would be sth like discourse.org, flarum.org or forum written from scratch (no PHP hopefully).

Now scammers like OP don't like to read "the bad and the ugly" because then people don't fall for their scams so much.

Go, take your scamcoins, betamale and tell sweet lies to someone else. We like it raw for very good reasons. gtfo.

QED. e.g. Ethereum was called scam for the longest time. its hard to prevent discussions dropping off to these low levels. the offer is still standing.

Why did i know you were bagholding eth?  Cheesy
Was it not sold under false promises?

I never held 1 eth. I spoke with Vitalik in January 2014 and thought the system wouldn't work. I know the people who've started Eth personally. They haven't used the forum much, because its too low quality. Likely the next 1B$ project will not be launched here. I know several people who made millions with the project, and they deserve it. Still some things could have been done better at launch (the distribution was pretty equitable though).

A better forum is needed
by
enet
on 28/06/2016, 11:41:46 UTC
I strongly believe the Altcoin community needs better ways to launch, follow and discuss projects. Bitcointalk has no development and innovation behind it, and the Alternative Cryptocurrencies section is only a tag-on to the historically grown bitcoin forum. Another issue is that the quality of development and postings varies greatly. Many talented people are put-off by low quality discussions. However, there is no other venue for discussing Cryptocurrencies, looking for trading and investment opportunities.

The new forum would be targeting: sophisticated developers (Github resume), qualified investors, entrepreneurs, contacts to institutions. As soon as some quality members are there the community will be self-inforcing its quality upwards.

If you're interested in building this, please PM me. I believe I have the knowledge and resources to do this. The question is what are the opportunities here and how the platform will work.

Opensource listing of coins and events: http://www.altcoin.markets

Its early days for the project but that should give better overview than the announce section which is a mix of new and old.
