Standard location to report scams, fraud, malware and verify legitimate sites.
by

This site is still in beta but it is open and working.

Our goal at btcpd.com is to provide the tools to the community to create a one source standard location to report scams, fraud, malware and other issues as well as hosting a verification network for business taking part in Bitcoin related activities.

Every report is investigated thoroughly by our team to ensure no site is reported falsely. All businesses also go through an investigation which is made public to verify legitimacy. We are in the baby stages but a good way to start is by getting reports from people like you!

Hello everybody,

some of you may recall my earlier post about three months ago about starting this project. well I took in a lot of advice and got the new site prepared.

Right now the site is in BETA, white listings is also in beta. the entire site will remain in beta status for 90 days. after that a final update will be placed(to include replacing the default banners)

BLACKLISTS ARE FULLY OPERATIONAL

for people:

please refrain from using the white listings forums section until the known bugs are worked out.

for businesses:

White listings are in beta, we would like tester sites, for this please apply here: http://btcpd.com/whitelist/
You will be processed through the investigation and sent the required forms. During this time your points and widget will be issued. only bronze widgets will be issued at this time. during beta testing you may be issued a couple different widgets but you will not need to go through the investigation more then once.

FOR THE COMMUNITY!

Please put us through the works. help us find bugs and improve our processes. If you have any questions ask and we can clarify not only here but on our site. if you have suggestions please tell us.

Thank you for all of your help and support.

also, in case people were wondering. you may review the upcoming website here:

http://showmysite.net/btcpd/

I do ask that you refrain from making any accounts or submitting any forums, should they work they will just be an annoyance and be deleted. it is very generic right now since its in development.

similar to that, but with way less advertisements... plus the services offered in there are much like what we are going to include in the bronze(free) package.

community assistance requested with btcpd.com

hello fellow community,

By the end of this month our operational site is set to go live. with this requests pending release of our white listings program will be accepted into the beta program. As previously stated the most power of what happens from btcpd.com side will come from the community.

I'll give a brief description of the white listings program.

White listings will consist of four different tiers of investigation, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. bronze being free and all other being paid for(please note all fees will go towards the cost of the level of investigation, any monetary gains will then go to operations and at the quarter we will release all monetary gains to charity of the communities desire. and as previously state all keys and fiat ledgers will be public.)

Step one: company applies for investigation(paid or not)
Step two: we perform investigation, make reports and grade company
Step three: if passing, we will issue a widget to the company and apply points depending on how well they scored. at the same a forum page will be created that is linked to this widget. reports will be made public and the community may review the company to add or subtract points which will in turn upgrade or downgrade their status(bronze, silver, ect).

the purpose of this program is to ensure the legitimacy of companies, as well as provide feedback based on users previous experiences to help ensure that companies are more forthcoming about stability and resolution of issues.

What I am asking from the community is for what you want for the investigations. issues you might foresee and solutions. what you find unappealing about this project and what you would do to change it.

We already have ideas about how the investigations should be ran(e.g. platinum level requires an on site visit to verify system redundancy and security as well as briefs on company financial stability and plans.) but more ideas are interesting.

please keep it reasonable, the idea behind the different levels are: bronze - free(allows verification of company legitimacy, nothing else is verified.) silver - $250(ball park but not officially set, allows a more in depth investigation which can include the possibility of purchasing products to review quality. review of ledgers and past history) gold - $1000(still ballpark and not officially set, will include purchasing products to review quality anonymously multiple times, anonymous contact to review customer service quality) Platinum - varies greatly depending on location and company(all out investigation, requires on site meeting, will visually inspect systems for redundancy and proper security protocols, review of financial stability and future plans)

additions, subtractions, price ideas and what goes where. the community has the microphone, lets hear it!

due to the circumstances. it is becoming obvious about what is going on. so there is some fairness in what has happened I'm going to split the winnings between MK and Polycoin. im going to say congrats but you should be ashamed lol. Keep an eye out for the next promotional event. it will be handled differently
If I may suggest some rule - if you're going to do a voting contest, make sure no accounts that were created - after - the competition started can vote. Smiley
This was a really pathetic outcome, and I don't think either of them deserves anything, due to only voting for themselves.

I may use that on the next one. again sorry about the outcome. maybe ill do a raffle next time around.

I wonder if OP realizes that the guy who wrote Polycoin is voting for himself with brand new accounts that he created today? Tongue
Oh well, if he's gonna put that much effort into it I guess he deserves to win x)

I'm aware. but theres nothing I can do unless a moderator can show proof of ip

Re: Is your exchange protected from heartbleed?

Some have weak encryption, aren't up to date with all the patches, don't use 2FA, are vulnerable to DDOS attacks, are vulnerable to SSL CRIME attack, ect....

The bigger threat is still the owners running off with the money though. I would only trust either a well regulated exchange in a country that prosecutes thieves like the US or an exchange that is insured or are using other means of protecting their clients like muti-sig authentications. Even than so I would still suggest securing your assets yourself and only using exchanges as a place to perform the trade.

well said

this is dumb polycoin...you nominating yourself and then having your friends vote you.

its not in the spirit of the competition,  Cry we are supposed to be naming criminals like MK

While reviewing the thread it appears polycoin is in for the lead. however, I feel like this may be multiple accounts due to 75% of the users were people with less then 5 posts. I will not personally disqualify so I don't create an injustice. but instead I'm going to let everybody make that decision.

I was informed of your post here. The users who +1'd my post aren't multiple accounts from me. I've shown this thread to friends on Facebook, and they +1'd the post. I did not pay/force/bribe them to +1 my post. I instead showed them how "evil" "Polycoin" is and the majority of them decided to so.

well, in polycoins defense, having friends +1 you is not a disqualifying factor. the major thing I'm worried about is having multiple accounts made by the same person in the name of cheating. with no real way to prove this was the case other then having mods verify the ip addresses of created accounts(which I seriously doubt will happen). polycoin may just end up having won this battle. Sorry for the confusion Polycoin, nobody is accusing you of cheating, but for fairness sake I am looking at all angles. The situation would be the same if it was for anybody else.

This isn't anything new, but we also haven't heard much about it. With everything that's already happened can we afford to put our already fragile price of Bitcoin up for more risk? Even this thread has put out information about the heartbleed fix. We are aware of several different exchanges but how many have confirmed the openssl fix? Ask your exchange to confirm the fix. It's your money on the line. BTCPD will do our part and post a list of exchanges who have taken the proper measures. If you have information please let us know.

Thank you

What's to stop me from paying you to put a competitors site on your blacklist?

we don't accept payments for anything other then donations or whitelists. also, full reports are publicly posted, there would have to be legitimate reasons to blacklist a company.  full transaction reports for btcpd will also be posted publicly every six months. we will try to be as transparent as possible. in addition we will be slowly building our own mining database so the fear of us being paid off is less likely.
