Re: Do you think positive mindset keeps you winning?
by
entertheabyss
on 25/07/2025, 11:56:06 UTC
Positive mentality is not a sort of magic that gives a gambler winning but it will help the gambler stay away from compulsive or unhealthy gambling practices. Besides, there are gamblers without this mentality yet they can be grinding better results than the gambler with a positive mentality. However, the difference and reaction lies at that point when they are not winning. Positive mentality will make the gambler understand that even if he losses today he can win tomorrow and so there is no need trying to chase loss knowing that if it is his day to win he don't have to stay in the casino for a long time. Sometimes, the first attempt can be a shocker and the gambler will win an unexpected amount but this feeling still won't make the gambler gamble uncontrollably. This is the positive mentality.

Re: Is it still gambling if you're sure you're going to win?
by

There are event you can predict on that even though it's not 💯 guaranteed that you're going to win,  a level of certainty makes you think that you're surely going to win.

The downside of that feeling is that you might become over confident to use a big amount in the game since you're to a large extent certain that you're going to win.

Can we still say we are gambling if the event is something we are at least 90% sure that we are going to win?

The 10% left is enough to make us lose so it is still gambling. Even if the gambler is 100% sure it is still gambling since something is always at stake. It is the confidence that always make a gambler wants to gamble. Just as the gambler would want to stake high if he is sure to win so also it will be for the gambler not to stake if he is also sure that he has a zero chance of winning. It will not even be reasonable for a gambler to decide to lose when it will be safer for him to ignore gambling at that particular session.

On some occasions a gambler would be afraid to place a stake due to fear and uncertainty and at the end the game will play and he will regret not playing the game. Others times, a gambler would be confidence and certain that he will win but end up losing. Regardless of how certain a gambler is there is always no winning guarantee and that is what makes it gambling. If gamblers starts winning everyday the bookies will close down and that is why gambling is always in the bookies favour to ensure that they profit continuously and remain in the market.

Re: Why some countries gamble more than the others?
by
entertheabyss
on 25/07/2025, 08:33:22 UTC
1. Support from the government.
Countries who gamble a lot has solid laws protecting their players so gamblers in those countries can just freely gamble as much as they want without having to worry about their rights. This doesn't mean that the countries have very free and loose rules but it just means that they have clear frameworks. Some other countries have some limitations but since their rules are clear, many still gamble.

Where gambling is legal people would freely gamble since it is not against the law of the country and this means that betting sites can freely advertise their platform which will motivate and trigger so many people to gamble. So, obviously there are more gamblers in countries where gambling is acceptable. I believe that people would even travel to such countries just to gamble and enjoy certain kinds of casino. A core gambler would be skeptical traveling to a country that prohibits gambling, that would be a limitation to his freedom. Where gambling is prohibited there would be very few gamblers and the gamblers are aware of the implication if they are caught. This fear would prevent so many from gambling and some may not have the knowledge of using softwares like VPN to access gambling platforms. Thus, legislation is decider in accessing why there are more gamblers in certain countries than others.

2. Bigger paychecks.
Not all rich people are gamblers but they certainly have more chances to gamble if they wanted to. According to data, the higher the income is in some countries the more people gamble in that country. Since the average citizen is earning a lot, even if they spend quite a significant amount of money in gambling this will still not cause financial doom.

I think that this stats is based on the value of the currency but if we go by the total number of gamblers per head then I will say that there are more gamblers in low income countries who are hoping to get a better life from gambling. No doubt, few gamblers from high income countries may be spending more in gambling compared to the so many gamblers in low income countries due to the value for money. For instance, don't be surprised that if you accumulate the amount Drake alone spends in gambling for a year it may exceed the total amount of money gotten from all gamblers from low income countries in that year. This is why stats will always show that people gamble more when they have bigger paycheck but the reality is that when people gets bigger paycheck they don't see the need for gambling and only few would be gambling for fun.

Re: No Amount is Affordable in Gambling
by

on 25/07/2025, 07:49:55 UTC
Dont get this twisted, every cent counts and dont get carried away with that phrase that gambling with a small amount take ways the impact of loses and the feeling that comes with that.

In gambling, fun comes from winnings, regardless of the amount, same goes with loses too, no gambler ever have fun losing, so there is no such thing and gambling with amount you can affords to lose.

That is us just being sarcastic, trying to point out rhe lesser evil between gambling with huge amount or gambling with small amount.

Yeah, every money counts. If you ever gets in need of money then it becomes obvious why every amount counts. This is why I don't even subscribe to the thinking that people can actually gamble for fun. Like you mentioned and I agree too that fun comes from winning. Practically, it is difficult to win which means that the gambler will not be having fun gambling since winning is not steady and certain due to the unpredictability and probability which characterize gambling. Even when people gamble to show support for a favorite team, they end up doubling their pain, one for losing money and secondly for watching the favorite team lose especially in a highly competitive game that have something at stake. As long as a gambler wishes to win then no amount is affordable when he is not getting the win.

No Amount is Affordable
by
entertheabyss
on 24/07/2025, 21:37:30 UTC
We are used to say that a gambler should gamble with an amount he can afford to lose but in the actual sense do we think there is any amount a gambler can afford to lose? When a gambler places a stake what he sees is not the stake but the potential win. This is why when he does not win he panics regardless of how little the stake is and he will always mention the potential win rather than the stake as the amount lost. The gambling system especially sports betting works in a way that as a game plays the value of the stake keeps increasing and what may appear to be what the gambler can afford to lose may rise and become what he can no longer afford to lose and this becomes a source of concern for the gambler if he losses the bet. In fact, if a gambler accumulates the total of what he thinks he can afford to lose he would know that he is losing what he cannot afford to lose. I think that any penny spent on gambling is a money the gambler have decided to sacrifice with the hope of getting a bigger amount and not because he can afford to lose it.

What's your position on this?

Re: How quickly do you forget a loss
by
entertheabyss
on 24/07/2025, 15:43:09 UTC
During gambling i can forget my small loss quickly probably it took only a few days but for big loss unfortunately i cannot forget it although it was happened few years ago it because this loses make me stress out and i got the trauma even i still remember the amount of money i have loss and the game which i played at that time but the difference is currently i can accept the reality that those loses is not more than a bad luck and i can learn from my previous mistakes

Dont you find it great that you can not forget your bad experience and it saves you from repeating same mistake; a mistake or choosing wrong size of a bet/being to confident/fact that you have used to big  amount to gamble that it stresses you? You will forget that stressful moment only when you will have a more stressful one, making your lost best kind of a protection, a barrier.

The mistakes we make in gambling are not conscious mistakes but rather the reality. As a gambler you must lose but the spirit of trying and hoping to win will always make the gambler to keep trying despite how big the loss is. In fact, when the losses are big, the more painful it is and the more difficult it becomes to stop. At this moment even a little win becomes source of smile and hope for the gambler and he will forget all his losses in a hurry. This is the tricky thing about gambling. The gambler can just have a win with his last stake and that will become a confidence booster for him and instead of becoming more calculative this time he will start feeling that this is the best time to recover from all his losses but this is where the bigger mistake lies - when a gambler wants to recover from losses. No matter how bad you lose as a gambler, chasing losses will be more devastating.

Our States Slogans Dey Misleading
by
entertheabyss
on 24/07/2025, 07:48:18 UTC
I just dey reason wetin motivate the slogans of our states because the slogans suppose be based on practical purpose and reality. Although some reflect culture and natural endowment of the state but for others the slogan na direct opposite of the reality. Imagine say Adamawa State wey be land of  beauty na one of the states for naija with poor infrastructures and even if you wan classify beauty based on individuals you go still know say Adamawa people no go make top 10 beautiful people for naija in terms of physical appearance. Bornu slogan na home of peace and this one self dey so laughable because no peace in Bornu due to Boko Haram operations. Ekiti slogan na land of honour and integrity but this no really reflect the individual character of the people and even the state. Benue state wey be the food basket of the Nation no dey contribute much for agriculture again maybe na because of the herdsmen crises them dey face currently wey make farmers no dey gree go farm again.

I dey suggest make these states change their slogan to really reflect modern achievements and challenges. Wetin ona think?

Re: Do we have hope for a better change in Nigeria?
by

on 24/07/2025, 01:06:31 UTC
It is painful that things keeps getting worst on a daily basis yet we complain about youths involving in crimes just to survive whereas the bigger criminals are the politicians. We have tried different protest in the past and yet no result. In the EndSar protest lives were lost yet nothing had changed and if those lost souls can see the state of the country I am sure they would regret ever sacrificing their lives for the good of this country. The politicians are not ready to change. Our leaders keeps borrowing money and sharing it amongst themselves. The only time you see these politicians embarking on meaningful projects or initiating good policies is when election is near just because they want to mislead the masses. Even what we call election is nothing but announcement since results are written before election but announced after the duration for the election. However, Nigeria can still get better. All we need is to speak one voice and be ready to protect that voice.

Know Your Right
by

on 24/07/2025, 00:45:53 UTC
My attention was drawn to the judgement in the case between FRSC vs Dr. Shebbs. Read the facts of the case here: https://afnews.ng/court-slams-frsc-with-%E2%82%A610-million-fine-for-illegal/ one lesson from this case is the fact that as a citizen you have to know your right. Ignorance of the law have made it so easy for citizens to be oppressed and intimidated by different enforcement institutions. There are laws relevant to our daily living and so it becomes important to be abreast with it as citizens. This will help you avoid unnecessary exploitation and prevent institutional overreach.

What do you think about this judgement? Do you think this will weaken the operation of Federal Road Safety CORPS (FRSC)?

Re: Secret to success of long term betting.

.. analyze the game beforehand, but avoid watching it live. It helps keep your emotions in check.

This advise is for gamblers who cannot control their emotions, gamblers who are gambling above theirs means, and gamblers who are desperate for a win.

Gamblers who cannot control their feelings will find a hard time watching a game they have gambled on. This is because sports games especially football is full of surprises, a minute the game is in favour of the gambler and in another minute the game is against the gambler. Since this is the nature of the game, a gambler will who cannot control his emotions will be under pressure until the end of the game. The good thing about such a gambler not watching this game is that it will be easy to check the outcome of the game and move on if the outcome doesn't go in his favour.

For gamblers who have staked so high on the game or have placed stake which exceeds an amount they can afford to lose will not have rest watching the game. The fear of losing such stake will keep the gambler on his toes until the end of the game and sometimes the gambler may even transfer aggression to other viewers because little banter or jokes is enough to trigger aggressive reaction from the gambler. So, to be at the safer side the gambler should not watch the game.

Desperate gamblers especially a gambler who is having a losing streak and so wants to recover his losses can never be happy especially if he has already lost money that shouldn't be meant for gambling. His reaction will not be friendly and his emotions will be difficult to control if he is watching the game.

However, for a gambler gambling for fun, there will be so much excitement in watching the game because watching the game is where he gets the pleasure especially when he is watching his favourite team playing.

Re: When gambling what do you measure? Luck or chances?
by
entertheabyss
on 23/07/2025, 15:18:52 UTC
I don't gamble based on odds. I have realized that odds can be misleading and so my picks are based on analysis. If the analysis favours the big odds I select it but if I am skeptical I may double chance the game instead of giving it a straight win but in cases where the analysis favours the smaller odds which is always the case I confidently give the team a straight win without having to double it since the odd is already small and so double chancing the game will product so low or no value at all. This notwithstanding I have realized that analysis is not enough to make a gambler win. At the end, winning is a function of luck. A gambler may spend quality time carrying out an indepth analysis based on available statistics and team news only to still lose based on poor officiating, on field injury or even red card which cannot be foreseen as a gambler. Thus, making selection and hoping factors which will affect the selection does not occur is where luck comes to play.

I would prefer to rotate different set of number. This will provide me with a better chance of winning than sticking to a particular set of number for a long time. I know that those who play lotto have ways they calculate the game to arrive at some numbers which they feel have a greater chance of appearing. This works sometimes and so I would prefer to select my numbers mathematically and not from guess work. If my selections will be based mathematically by considering past results it means that I will be having different numbers based on the outcome of my calculation and even when there is a repetition of number it is still based on the calculation and not on the basis of self decision.

It shall not be well with the judge that gave that judgement, it further show that in this country cow and herdsmen are serious citizens and that is why the government are playing politics with herdsmen attack on farmer's crops and killing the farmers, at the end no single herdsmen has be arrested. Government has hands in it, and they are being sponsored by politicians to achieve their political interest. The case of Jackson Sunday was the worst and obvious evidence that the Nigerian government does not care about our life and properties. Wherever you are avoid trouble and if you perceive one run far.

If only the abuses citizen lay on leaders and judges gets to them then we would have been a better country. It appears as though the more we abuse them the more hardened they become. This was made obvious when we consider the statement made by senator Godswill Akpabio that "...you can go ahead with the protest but we will be eating". This statement shows that citizen welfare is not the priority of the government. Even the judiciary that is expected to make things right is part of the body making things difficult for citizens due to the kind of judgement they pronounce. In fact, justice and equity is no longer the watch word of the judiciary as they are more concerned with making judgement that suits the interest of the ruling class and not based on the principle of equality, fairness and justice.

This is an easy on for me due to where I come from. We have good roads, steady and uninterrupted power supply, good borehole water but our people still need jobs and so human capital development will be my focus. Training our youths on digital skills will be my project. When our youths have these skills automatically they will become self-employed and start making money for themselves and this will bring more development because it means that more youths will build houses and establish more businesses and this would attract people from different communities to come and reside in my community since everything that makes life good is available.

Re: Atiku resigned from PDP
by
entertheabyss
on 19/07/2025, 21:22:14 UTC
It is no more new that he form a party called ADC or something. I did not know their intention for making its name similar to APC.

He wanted Obi to be part of the party to win Tinubu in the next election, but I think Obi should not make such a mistake as he attended the inauguration of the new party. He gets such crowd because his people wants him to be president and not vice president. Just my opinion, I may not be right.

Even if Obi joined him, they should not forget that PDP is not a small party at all and they do not know which tactics PDP may use. PDP will still be an obstacle which might still make APC to win the Election again.

Atiku suppose to just rest and support another PDP memeber for the next general election and not just be forcing everything in order to be the president. He is after only his own selfish intention.

The next general will be keenly contested especially when you see the strong politicians that came together to form ADC in order to make it difficult for Tinubu to emerge in second term.

One of the problems which may affect ADC is producing the flag bearer for the 2027 election. There would be a lot of lobbying and all these politicians which has joined  ADC have their personal interest which is more important to them than the party's interest and most of these politicians just want to achieve their personal interest under the platform of ADC.

Another challenge is that some of this politicians may be bought over by offering them gigantic promises and coupled with the fact that ADC will be contesting against an incumbent. This means that ADC must be 10 steps ahead with their plots and ready to spend more money. Except this, it will still be difficult for ADC to win. In another vein, if key actor like the INEC chairman can be bold enough to operate on transparency but this is not possible because the process which brought him into that position is not based on transparency.
