I am all for suing for my BTC, there is no chance in hell I'm going to take USD at Gox prices for it.  That would probably be $5 a coin by the time we file anyway at this rate.

Getting BTC is the whole reason for having a Gox account.

That does make sense that it would just grab that information from the blockchain.  It must just keep your address names.

I am sure it's the file that's bad and not the client.  I am not using the same computer, OS, or bitcoin client version that I originally had the issue with.  Prior to creating a new wallet I had copied the wallet to my laptop and had the same issues with it opening and syncing. 

I was assuming the whole transaction history was stored in the wallet.dat file, since when I manually swap my personal and business wallet.dat files and open the client they show their correct transaction histories.

I actually did that at one point to get some funds that were sent to the old wallet by accident.  The thing is it didn't fix my issue the client still crashed, even when done on a separate computer.  I don't really understand why that would happen.  I would have thought the keys are either good nor not good and wouldn't affect the performance of the bitcoin client.

Looks like I will probably have to give it a try.  I was hoping the transaction history was stored in plain text in a file in my .bitcoin folder somewhere for easy copy pasting.

I have a wallet file I use for my business transactions and when I opened and it started syncing the blockchain it would crash the client (qt linux, several versions over the last year).  Anyway I started a new wallet and moved all my coins to it.  Now that it's getting to be time to file my taxes I need a history of my bitcoin income and expenses. 

Is there a way for me to pull the transaction history out of my wallet.dat file?


I would also be interested to know if there is some way to export it from a working file.  I found one post that claimed it could be done, but I didn't see any way other than to manually retype it into a spreadsheet.

I am unsure too.  I don't have much in it, and don't really care to sell.  But I am in the US and it hardly seems worth whatever trouble it will be to figure this out.

Can't speak for anyone else, but my miner (BFL Single w/ BGFminer on Ubuntu) refuses to stay connected to any pool besides BTC Guild, that's why I was on it.  The only other one that works is BTCDig and that is a really small pool, that I can't seem to stay connected to today either.

It may have been when I tried before, but this time it wasn't checked and still failed.

In any case I have fixed it.

I went to:

Dropped my wallet.dat file into their page, it imported my keys without issue, I then created a new wallet on my pc and sent myself my coins.

Hex, is not checked.  On a retry I got it to say that it imported, however no coins show in the new wallet.  Tried merging too, no luck.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong, but when I go to import.

I got a lot of errors like this when I tried to import:
2013-04-18 11:22:19-0500 [HTTPChannel,1,127.0.0.1] Hexadecimal private keys must be 64 or 66 characters long (specified one is 34 characters long)

I get this each time I try to open my bitcoin-qt

System error: CDB() : can't open database file wallet.dat, error -30974

I can't find any posts showing that same error #.

I installed a new copy of bitcoin-qt on another computer and tried both my wallet from the old one then my backedup copy of the wallet.  Both still caused this error.  It happens if I try to do anything with the wallet.  If I just let it sync it runs for a while then shows the error.  Once it shows the error I am forced to press ok and the program closes.

Both machines are running Ubuntu.

Any ideas?

I am currently attempting to have some products manufactured by a Chinese company, and am finding the wire transfer payments to be pretty annoying and rather expensive.  I would love to be able to pay in Bitcoin, however they don't seem to know what it is or care.

I would love to see a directory of Chinese companies that are willing to accept Bitcoin, does anyone know of such a thing.

I am prepared to purchase and install these machines as soon as someone can iron out the code.  I lack the ability to do that part myself, but will make every effort to bring these to the masses once they are fully functional. 

Forgive me if someone asked already but I did not see it.

1. What platform is the included software for.  Must I run Windows or can I plug these into my Linux systems and have them play happily?

2. Why is BTC not an option for payment?

Well here is the update:

Campaign is starting to pick up.  Media attention, newspapers and radio.  Good feedback, volunteers, encouragement, all good.  No one so far has asked me about bitcoin being on my website, though it has still only been promoted on facebook and a brief mention on the radio.  Images are still being worked on for it... and I think most of my hits are on the facebook page.

My use of Linux (and usually Opera) is in play here (I have accessed the page a lot).  It should not have been enough to account for putting Opera on top.  I can only imagine someone else who uses Opera really likes to view my page despite the fact that the colors don't load right with it.  It also claims they are all from Opera version 9.8, a version I have never used.

Good call, I added a short description and a link to weusecoins.com.  Content will be filling in gradually.  I should have the major points covered by the end of the year.  I plan to start promotion fist weekend of January or so.

Not much in the way of promotion yet.  Sometime between Xmas and New Years, there will be some media presence.  Though my primary goal at the moment is getting ballot access.  Things are falling together.

Could have come from many places.  It seems I used a credit card from my local bank, one I have banked at since Junior High, they still have my parents address on file for me.  I don't imagine they will do much of anything with that information.  As a third party candidate I expect to be ignored.  In the unlikely event one of the other candidates choose to attack me on this it is easy to defend and I'll get a free headline or two out of it.  I suppose I should update it anyway though, if I am to be attacked, I would rather it be on policy.



Thank you for letting me know about the donations not working.  The site is still being setup and there are several things that do not work properly (such as comment sections appearing everywhere).  I will let my web guy know to fix it.  This is why I have shared the address here, so that everyone can point out what is not right so I can deal with it before spending time/money to promote it.
