Re: [ANN] ECC

I am having trouble syncing the wallet. I manage to get a few blocks, then I get a bunch of "Error -30974, can't open database" errors, then the daemon stops. When I restart it, it takes a long time to do anything, then it manages to get a few blocks and rinse, repeat.

Anyone know what to do?

All you should need to do is download the new lynx wallet, copy your wallet.dat file to "%appdata%\Roaming\ECCoin", run lynx wallet, download the daemon, start daemon, then wait a few days for the sync.  Previous forum posts in this thread should be able to help you further if you have issues.

Actutally, I think that should be "%appdata%\ECCoin," shouldn't it?

Thanks.

If I start with Hostmaster's July 12 data or if I start with a completely fresh install, I wind up on a block chain that has ~204k blocks. That makes me wonder two things. 1) Is Mintpal's fork the "correct" fork? Do we know if anyone but them is on it?  2) Would a checkpoint at ~209k blocks help me? I don't understand the checkpoints but if my wallet can't see past 204k blocks, I don't see how a checkpoint 5k blocks later would help.

you are not on the correct chain. the block chain for this coin has forked many times. right now hostmaster needs to add a checkpoint for block 290762
(209762, uint256("49448f382f9ec8f126542244573e7349c7b07db0cbdc2ab8326942cbfff603b3"))

and then compile the wallets for us to download. once he has done this everyone should be on the minpal fork.

it would also be nice if he set a node to hold checkpoint updates and have the checkpoint added every 5k blocks or so and given to the node so that future forks would be avoided (i have some code for that but not all)

290762 or 209762?

the block chain explorer i was going to get was on the correct chain. however there seems to be another fork around block 191k. i will be getting rid of my block explorer. with a fork happening every other day. i dont see how this is going to last

Thanks for trying.

Still, I'm confused. Is there a general consensus that the July 12 data from Hostmaster was not the correct fork, then?

EDIT: comkort still has an ECC trading pair (ECC/BTC) i suggest we all withdraw from mintpal and move our coin there to make it strong again!

How do we do that if we can't get on the same fork that Mintpal is on?

We need to get Hostmaster to create a block chain explorer that is correct or at least get one that's consistent with data that he says is correct. Then we need to get Mintpal and the other exchanges to synchronize with that.

In the meantime, please hide the existence of your block chain explorer. In other words, remove all links and pretend it doesn't exist. Having an unofficial explorer that's on the wrong fork is just going to cause confusion.

so what's that? Did neurotics fuck up again?
the main mintpal concern was lack of a official block explorer ( i talked to them about it). we now have a block explorer again! yayyy!!! at http://chainz.cryptoid.info/ecc/

I think you have good intentions, but you may be causing a great deal of harm if your block chain explorer is on the wrong fork. Why do you think the block explorer should be showing the fork that it's on?. It's not the fork that Mintpal is on. It also doesn't seem to be consistent with the files Hostmaster distributed that were dated July 12 and which went with the 1.6 wallet.

I've tried to synch several times by starting with Hostmaster's data and using the 1.6 wallet. Each time there seems to be a little more than 204000 transactions (204094 currently). Your block chain explorer is about 25 minutes behind and so far it thinks there are only 191139 transactions. There can't be 12900 transactions in the last 25 minutes! Also, why is it getting stuck?

Your block chain shows one minting transaction that originated in my wallet (1.5) in June, but which was orphaned based on Hostmaster's data. That must mean that my wallet was on the wrong fork back in June and your block explorer still is.

Unfortunately, the fork I'm on isn't the one Mintpal is on, either. I tried to withdraw from Mintpal and they say it was sucessful, but the transaction didn't show up in my wallet nor on your blockchain. Argh!

People tend to freak out when a coin creator says "I think it is dead", that was your only real mistake. We could have pitched in and helped get over the hump, but if the creator is so quick to give up, then why should we gamble our hash rate? You're supposed to wait until its actually dead before saying its dead, come on..

+1

And the same logic applies to people spending bitcoin to buy furrycoin on the exchange. Why risk your bitcoins if the coin's creator doesn't believe the coin will succeed? Some miners were mining to sell to those people, so when they stop buying, some miners will stop mining.

Prolifik is a full member. One would have thought that he would have noticed that coins require confident leadership and promotion.

How long does it take for my shibe to stake?  I bought yesterday afternoon and nothing has staked yet.

You need to have the coins for 3 days, like it says in the OP.  Wink

shibe.pool.mn is still not letting you change the payout address. They require an email confirm now, and will give you the message: " A token was sent to your e-mail that will allow you to edit your account details " but don't actually send an email. Also they have a support forum, but you can't post anything there, so what good it it?

It's a Russian or Chinese pool and they are on the wrong fork

Well, mn would be Mongolia. They have zero hash now.

I stopped mining there long before the fork, but I still can't get my SHIBEs out or even set the payout address so I can withdraw once they are on the correct fork. I've mined there occasionally since they were new and have the impression that they are not crooks, but are incompetent. For a while though, they were the only pool not crippled by DDOS.

They stopped allowing people to change the payout address several days ago, then implemented the broken email confirmation system.

Huh? I counted 10 bounties for the translations alone.

Crap! The dev even changed the title for his other coin. Now it reads: "[ANN] Furrycoin, a coin for the furry fandom! Dead, R.I.P." The date for the OP is May 06, 2014, 03:34:02 PM. In just four days, he already is declaring his coin dead! How long will cakecoin last before he declares it dead, too?

Pay attention to what Prolifik (the dev) does with Furrycoin.

Sorry guys I think Furrycoin is dead  Cry

I tried to fix it I'm sorry.  Cry

If he gives up that easily on his other coin, how much work will he do for this one?

Why would you just give up? You should be out there promoting the hell out of the coin. Get on IRC. Get other pools to mine it. Point out that the diff will go extremely low once we get past block 900. Sponsor some giveaways on places like ecoiner.org. Go to furry fan sites and get people interested in buying the coin.

If you give up on furrycoin so easily, why would anyone take a chance on cakecoin?

Furrycoin 2.0 wallets are up. We will fork to DIGISHIELD at block 1100.
Difficulty should drop at block 840

The Windows wallet is much improved. Smiley You might want to make it more clear in the OP that it is mandatory to upgrade before block 1100, though. Hopefully most people would realize that, but still...

Updated wallets are coming, we are testing now to make sure everything works.

One thing to check in the Windows wallet would be the "Open" button for the debug log file on the Debug tab. Also if you click on the "Show" button for the command line options, some of the information is still for Litecoin.

WOOPS!  This coin wasn't ready to be released!
Also, where in the hell do the config files go? There isn't any Furry coin folder under %APPDATA% on Windows. I was afraid that it overwrote my Litecoin data folder.

The config goes in the same folder as the qt.

I forgot to include the pre-configured config in the non passworded wallets fixing immediately.

That wasn't the problem. The problem is that every other Windows wallet but this one puts the data in a folder called %APPDATA%\Coinname. That's where Microsoft wants program data to go. Your Windows wallet just puts the data where the exe file is. But the exe file is supposed to go under C:\Program Files (x86). (C:\Program Files for 32-bit versions) But if you put your wallet's exe file there, it can't create the necessary data files on Windows 7 (unless it runs with administrator privileges). It looks like the wallet is working and it communicates, but nothing is being saved in the data files.

You really should have the Windows wallet work the same way as other coins' wallets do. You are going to have a few very upset users if you don't, I think.
