Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform

Hi people, i have a problem with my GTX 1080ti, Nvidia drivers force the power state for CUDA compute workloads (other than real-time graphics) for mining rendering, deep learning, etc. to the lower P2 power state instead of the maximum P3 state (P0 in windows). The difference between the two states is a lower memory clock frequency, the core clocks are identical in both states, i found that in windows i can change this and have much stable voltage and gain more hashrate without overclock to much in windows using Nvidia inspector and disable P0 state=OFF, but in Hive os I fail to found an option to do that! i tried a lot of things and it seems many people can do it either, it's there a way to work around through this?

Hi i have a big problem with cpu mining, when i put the xmrig and 6 gpu the cpu start mine at 10%, for example if i put 4 gpu each one mines well and the cpu mines at 3600m/s but when i put 6 gpus each gpu mine well but the cpu start mine at 300m/s, what coul it be?? another problem its that the motherboard does not give me video after it past the ubuntu screen the monitor stays black, i already trie pcie gen 1, 2, 3 and auto, and put csm compatibility in bios, but nothing seams to work, its a x99 gigabyte ud4 and a msi x399 carbon

some facts.

you can expect around 30,5mh/s x 6 gpus from every rig (that makes around 183mh/s). You can expect something around 135W for every card. so around 22kW of power considering all the gpus + components.

Your ETH hashing power should be around 4800mh/s. If your Electricity cost is around  0,10 you make 511$ right now (that's not even considering ROI, bill taxes, or government taxes over profit. 0,11cnt/kW you make 352$ right now. 0.12cnt/kW you make 194$. and at 0,13cnt/kW you make 36$.

Now, the average price in my country for every kW is around 0,15€/kW (we pay 26% taxes over electricity prices due to leftists "idea" with green energy). Which is around 0,17$ (including all taxes). Talking in numbers, a guy living in my country with your setup, will be losing almost 600$ per month at current prices.

I can add some information, that can help you to collect some more facts.
The average price in my country - less about  $0.06/kW.
In the first post TS shows Mh and power consumption - totally it 6454/21910. And $0.1 per kW.
Less profit - much miners turns rigs off - difficulty down - more profit.
More ETH at low cost and low difficulty - HODL - more profit.

Give some more facts please.

you seem to be like one of those poor guys outthere that would kill for 10$. Sorry, i don't want to deal with people like that. It makes no sense. Ohh, BTW, at 0,06$/kWh you live in a third world country, so i undestand your way of thinking. You make more mining than working, so 10$ for you can be way more money than working. It makes sense. For 10$ profit per month, i don't even take the cotton sheets from the equipment.

Oh, BTW, at lowest prices on ETH (80$ more or less), it never went down of 134.000Gh/s. Even if we have seen a drop in value of over 35% in last month, the hashrate went from about 145.000gh/s to actual 172.000gh/s. In last two days, with masive drops of nearly 25%, it increased from 162.000gh/s to 176.000gh/s even with bloodbath in the streets.

So people turned on their equipments even at heavy loses, which show how "intelligent" are miners nowadays.

And you seem to be like one of those discriminating people that would kill for no money just for fun or ignorance. Sorry, i dont want to deal with people like that either. You live in a "FIRST" world country, so i understand you little peace of s... thinking. You make money, but your mentality its poorer than any of those "third world country" people.

Hi people, i have a weird problem, i have a 8card rig (rx 580 8gb saphire pulse and 1 saphire nitro with a h110 pro btc+ asrock) when i conect the hdmi cable to one of the rx cards no matter what i do, if a switch the risers, conect to a different gpu or anything else, if i put 8 card the system boots, the hiveos starts but it wont start mining it stay in a dark screen with this symbol on top left (_), but when i conect only 7 gpus starts good and mine good, but if i conect the hdmi cable to the motherboard it recognize the 8 gpu and i can mine very good but i have problem with´applying the fans and voltage settings, why do you thing this happen?

Sorry my bad english

Vegas are the only profitable choice out there in Gpu mining. I mean truly profitable as there are many other cards which can give you a low profit by mining with them but Vegas are doing great and I think are the only cards to make 0.16 mBTC as a minimum per card daily.

You can buy them now or just wait a little bit as the prices of all graphic cards are going down on ebay very fast , with prices dropping every day. You can build a 6 cards miner cheaper now than it used to be in the beginning of this year.

but do you thing  its better to buy them use or to pay 380$ for a new one?

Hi people, what do you think about this, I have an opportunity to buy 6 Vegas, 6 Rx Vega 56 power color red dragons or 4 Rx Vega 56 red dragon and 2 Rx Vega 64 RED DEVIL they cost 399$ for the red dragons rx 56 and 499$ for the red devils 64, I know that Rx 56 its better price/performance but the 64 can have better resale value and its the RED DEVIL that has better cooling and triple bios, so what do you thing? what would be the difference in mining out of the 2 in different algorithms not only cryptonight?

Buy those that will drop the price for 150$ from stated.

what do you mean? i dont understand

Re: Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 4GB Hynix - Need help with rig (only 20MH/s in dual mode)
by

on 05/10/2017, 06:07:28 UTC
I don't have any Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4GB cards, but I know my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB SE cards with a Samsung/Hynix dual memory Bios don't like a core clock over 1150 MHz. If I increase the core clock by more than that, the hash drops. I use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6 from jaschaknack, 'one click timing patch' Bios mod with a 1150 MHz core clock, 2100-2200 MHz memory overclock, -15% power limit and -96mV undevolt and get 30+ MH/s ETH + 850 MH/s DCR dual mining with a -dcri 28 setting. You also need to use Afterburner v4.40 beta 16 or higher to be able to set the power limit and undervolt with the blockchain drivers.

https://github.com/jaschaknack/PolarisBiosEditor

https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/download-msi-afterburner-4-4-beta-18.html

Also set your virtual memory on Windows to at least 16GB if you're using multiple GPU's.

Soz my bad English, I bought 8 of these cards, can you please answer some questions?, how much watts its pulling each gpu from the wall? What temperature are they handled? Wich one of the two bios are you using when moding? do you thing this are better than msi gaming x??

https://www.staples.ca/en/Zotac-GeForce-GTX1070-8G-DDR5-Mini-Video-Card-English/product_2483601_2-CA_1_20001

Has anyone dual mined ( eth/lbry ) with these? even single mining like zcash or eth... Just looking for info on it
( yes I googled and searched )

Yeah man, they are good cards, mines have micron memory but they OC to 30 mhz each, not bad at all...

Re: AMD Ryzen hashrate?
by

on 10/06/2017, 05:08:18 UTC
Even at 400 hash you get a CPU that pays for itself within 6 months at current prices. Since you need a CPU to mine with your GPUs anyways why not get one that pays for itself, brings in a little profit after that and also has good resale value?

For those that have an 8 core Ryzen and have not been able to reach 600+ hashrate on XMR, you will need to enable large page files (requires Windows Pro). Once I did that I went from ~450-470 to 600-630 hashrate on my R7 1700X @ 4.0 ghz.  It's a nice boost in AEON too (the most profitable CPU coin right now).

Hi man, Are you talking about  Virtual Memory? if not, how i enable large page files?

Hi nicehash team! I have a question, sorry my bad english, Is there any other advantage apart from simplicity of using this software instead of mining directly with the claymores if I have an RX and changing the profits in poloniex?

I advise you to try all available options and decide which one fits your needs. What is an advantage for one man it not necessary to be for the other.
But when I talk with our users, I noticed that they are mostly grateful for the time they save while using NiceHash Miner. They are not investors or traders, they just want to make easy money.
This is also the main reason why hundreds of gamers are joining NiceHash every week.

Whatever you decide for, make sure to try out the NiceHash Miner v2 when it comes out, okay?  Smiley

Ok! thanks for the fast answer. whats new in the V2?

kid talking ... imo most likely he owns nvidias . . .

Youve wasted several pages on the forum with total carp i dont know where you get your figures from if its  just straight from whattomine  then you need to do proper research  of what miners are actually getting from there cards, then at the very end  you have the  GTX1070 duel mining and the RX480 only mining eth really fair  apples to melons

AH AH ! Right... I do strongly invite you to have a look around whattomine.com, looks like you don't know this website, and do the comparison by yourself. There is a special tab for ETH+LBRY, SC, DCR and PASC. I just let you look for it [Hint : Up and middle] As for my calculations, please read the loooooong post that wastes soooooo much pages, there is a bit of info about it.

Then you'll probably cry Smiley

Looks like you'all own AMDs, and that's OK, or at least it was last year.

Now... We are several people interested in Nvidias users feedback, GPU brand, models, stats...

Nvidia seems to do great with Xevan algo with gtx 1080 with a nice lead.
Only sad nvidia is so insanely expensive..

I'll be walking all over Nvidia with yesterday's R9, I'll post some screen caps when I get the cards.

Bring it on ! Smiley

I got 50 MH/s not on yesterday's R9 but last week's HD 7990 6GB!

http://i.imgur.com/w0B8H41.png

Good day to you sir.

http://i.imgur.com/J7hTa1G.jpg

Edit:

Considering gtx 1060's but they don't mix with Radeons so I'm a weary about dropping $275 to test it out.

Maybe somebody with one could test it on EXP and post results?

Yeah, that's 25MH/s per GPU @375W total, so ?

I get 47MH/s on 2 x GTX970 @350W, which is waaaaaay outdated...

Feels a bit wrong, this whole lot of denial. I don't spit on AMDs, I don't even own a full Nvidia rig, I'm just looking for the best investment to come and make it worth it. I was sure to go AMD for weeks, before I ran into couple of Nvidia fanatics reviews, that I compared with whattomine.com stats.

So, either whattomine's paid by Nvidia to pump up the stats, or there is an AMD lobby sitting here...

By the way, wicked results for the tiny RX 570ITX, and for that price ! This is a 4GB card, what are the predicitons about DAG file size in the near future ?

Im so happy with the 2 i got for testing that i already ordered 16 more, to complete 3 itx rigs.

They've been running no trouble at 25.4 mh/s @ 97-102W since mounting.   (51Mh/s @ 204W)

The little heat they make compared to all other cards i have is astonishing.
I regret buying rx480s .. should have waited and got 20 more if these instead.

About 4gb ... it should hold for a while.
At the price im getting these cards i have ROI on 2 months, maybe even less... beyond that its bonus...
When/IF eth hits 4gh, I will just have to move those rigs to other coins. But this should be way way way way way beyond ROI.

Imagine what these sweet small monsters can do with modded bios  Cool

25.4 mh/s @ 97-102W  is that at the  wall or gpu-z

Hi man, sorry my bad english. You encorage me to buy 5 of this cards, can you tell me the settings your using? have you find a bios mod that works? its worth it to bios mod this card? can i run 6 of this with a 1000 psu? whats the temperature they handle? would you put those in dual mine or simple mining? thanks a lot in advance

Hi people, first sorry for my bad english, my problem is that i buy 4 saphire nitro (no plus) RX480 8GB, and i think i did a very bad buy becouse this model https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06VSWDK2H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  it has only 1750 mhz of memory clock and i think that it dosent have doble bios option. I buyed becouse i did not know that there where 3 diferents models of nitros... my question is, how much less hashrate will i have with claymores miner? and does standart bios mod for nitro+ work in this version or do i need a different one?

PD: I read that peoples gpus are dying for using dual miner ether/+ and for mod the bios, i do not want to happen to me, does it really damaged your card to mod the bios and do dual coin mine?

- Its not a BAD card. Its is a cheap card. This is why you chose it in the first place. So you already saved some money. Why regret now?
- You still can mod Bios. But modify it yourself rather than use someonelse's. Follow step by step instructions bit by bit (can be easily found via google).
- You should ask questions on the forums where you read "that peoples gpus are dying for using dual miner". I did not see anything like that in this thread.

Thanks dude, well actually y buyed not only becouse it was cheap but becouse i saw in the forums that its the most used card for mining, but i didnt know that this particulary version it dosent have dual bios and the memory its lower, im asking if they will reach 30/31 mhz has the other models or if it is better to sell them and buy another one before i open the box.

And yes for example in pag "479" someone said "6 msi -  3 sapphire nitro and  2 sapphire reference cards died all during past 3 weeks.... I dont even know what to blame now. Bios mods... motherboards.... PSU or claymor v9"
