Some Advice on buying chips, getting them assembled.
by

Hello folks.

I'm planning on buying some chips (which leads to my first question) and have them assembled for me on to "a board" (which leads to my second question).

At the moment, what "next-gen" chips are out there?  Avalon Gen 2 / Bitfury?  Can anyone recommend one over the other?

And as far as assembly, can anyone recommend a reputable company?

Thank you.

Some of their stuff looks too good to be true. The rest is as overpriced as everywhere else.

Very few of the sellers have any feedback.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Perfect-200gh-s-bitcoin-miner/1606285868.html

What could go wrong if I ordered this?

I know there's a recent thread that turned out to be about aliexpress, but I'd like to invite more views, please.

What I will say is that I've bought over 50 items (boards, circuits, sensors, etc.) from aliexpress in the last year and the items have always arrived here (eventually...shipping is slow as hell) and the items all worked.

Having said that, I've bought over 50 items...and never spent more than $15 on a single item.  Do I trust them for cheap sensors, breakouts and boards?  Yes.  Would I buy a Miner from them?  Not a chance in hell.

Yeah it's a bunch of stuff but you can make a small enclosure and then mount the screen creatively.  Would be kind of cool.

This could be a good one.  It has USB input/output.

Nothing currently available worth buying. Sorry
That is indeed true, but it doesn't answer my question.

Best Concise List of Mining Hardware?

The other night I was on the forums and found a link to an excellent site that had all mining hardware currently available (or soon to be available) on the market.  I cleared out my history yesterday and can't find it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

GBBG is utter crap AND a scam AND a ponzi scheme.  But the majority of users on here already know that already.

I registered a channel on freenode, #nycbtcgroup, so at least we have a common place to share stuff.  I'll be in there 24/7, just whisper me for ops when you get on.  If I'm away I'll get it done when I'm back Wink

We can always change the channel name, just figured I'd use that one for now.

I am interested.  Keeping this local and face-to-face communication has advantages.

Absolutely.  Perhaps we could meet up after the holidays?

I've been investing in BTC for about 18 months but only got in to mining recently in the last 3 months.  My best advice to any newbies out there looking to get in to mining, via hardware or cloud, is to research and calculate.  Keep up with all of the major Bitcoin publications, look at market trends and heed the advice of the senior members on here.  They are usually right  Roll Eyes
