Re: Do you dump your SUSHI tokens immediately to stake more WBTC?
by
evanescence
on 18/03/2021, 17:59:06 UTC
I don't see much upside potential in BTC so I don't sell for wBTC exactly.
I like low-cap DeFi coins instead, I can easily see some of them do a x10. For BTC that would mean $500,000, it would take a crapton of money to get there.
I do actually sell my sushi tokens but I'm not as meticulous as the article you shared would want me to be Cheesy
Learned a thing or two. Apparently I should dump exactly once every 10 days (did the math to the best of my understanding).

Bitcoin exist in a speculative environment and at such any one can predict what ever he/she thinks about the market, both the so call experts are now getting disappointed because the result is opposite of they predictions bitcoin is now trading at $7,000+ which is an opposite of those experts prediction any one is free to predict any way but let us all be optimistic about the market.
Yep, I tend to hold coins and start gradually selling when the price increases, buying back during corrections. Seems like doing something as simple as that beats people who daytrade for 16 hours a day.

Apparently Vinny Lingham and Tone Vays are bullish, Vays for the short term, and Lingham thinks the bull is knocking on the door.

https://chainbulletin.com/vinny-lingham-announces-that-the-next-48-hours-will-decide-if-the-bull-market-is-back/

Vinny failed at calling the top, Vays failed with his prediction of a longer crypto winter. Do you think they are correct this time?

Are tokens a distraction from BTC? Is LN mass adoption ready? We'll know soon
by
evanescence
on 30/04/2019, 13:36:27 UTC
For the first time ever, we'll be seeing answers to both of those questions. BAT holders have a reason to be worried, but they're by no means doomed. Gab is forking Brave to create their own browser, and while on the surface it is a Gab vs Brave war, it really is a war between BTC and ERC20 tokens.

https://chainbulletin.com/twitter-alternative-gab-has-forked-brave-browsers-codebase-replacing-basic-attention-tokens-with-lightning-network-support/

We'll have two browsers with pretty much equal userbases - Dissenter and Brave.
One will use LN, the other will use BAT.

Which one would you prefer and why? If you use neither of these, would you elaborate why that is?

It is supposed to be based on the BM1397, correct?

https://chainbulletin.com/bitmain-announces-its-new-and-improved-7nm-mining-chip/

55J/TH seems low compared to what was initially advertised (30J/TH). Still incredibly impressive, and blowing everything else out of the water. But I wonder where this huge discrepancy is coming from.

Re: Veriblock is spamming the BTC network. Is this bad, or positive for LN adoption?

As soon as the fees became unsustainable they lowered their usage of the BTC network quite a bit. I guess they cannot singlehandedly bring the fees to the insane values of 2017.

If this is bullish then god help us when something bearish happens!
Seriously, somebody deciding to not go for an IPO because he will not get the price he wants means one thing, the investors are looking down at cryptos and more important THEY don't see anything bright on the horizon.
And without their money, there is nothing bright on the horizon!!!
Traditional investors will only care about the price today. Crypto prices are down so they have a lower valuation of the company - plain and simple. If they want to gamble with coins they can just buy them.
Investors will also be more than happy to pay 10 billion for Bitmain even in its current position, which is a ton of money, all things considered. It's just not the 16 billion that they believe their company is worth and they're willing to fight to prove to the world that they can grow regardless. I think that's the bullish part.
The bearish sentiment is obvious simply by opening coinmarketcap - but it's not an indicator of those investor's future expectations of crypto.

Re: What is your general sentiment on soft-caps for ICO's?
by
evanescence
on 28/03/2019, 00:07:22 UTC
Is it necessary for an ICO to have soft-cap or does it show a sign of weakness and missing confidence?
It's a sign of high confidence, as a matter of fact. If teams didn't believe they'd reach it, they wouldn't even bother with the ICO. I personally see nothing wrong with it...

There is such a thing as "overselling". Sometimes a token becomes so cheap that a whale can easily manipulate prices to a point where it's much more profitable to artificially pump prices. Watch the market closely and start reading the charts - it's simpler than it looks.

Re: Huobi vs BNB
by

on 26/03/2019, 20:48:10 UTC
Plain and simple - Huobi is much much better. I even like their trading engine more, they're older, more established, and interestingly enough - easier to trust.
Binance is only popular because it got all the Antshares investors from Bittrex and it rode the wave. But with the disaster that IEO-s on their platform have been, if Huobi does a better job, it might overtake the #1 spot.

Sometimes selling at a loss only means "selling while it's still worth something". I highly encourage everyone to research the fundamentals of the token they're advertising, it would make the decision much easier to make.

Re: The Cryptopia fiasco - Only 77 of 459 projects secured

on 23/03/2019, 14:58:02 UTC
https://chainbulletin.com/cryptopia-sheds-light-on-the-amount-of-funds-stolen-by-hackers/

With the amount of funds stolen by hackers being no more than the exchange's income, I think we might see cryptopia live at one point. NZ Government is looking closely so I don't think there's a big chance that owners can run with the money - they'll cover the cost of the hack which is not small. But I do believe cryptopia will return as a solvent exchange, even if it loses all credibility and needs to close down eventually it will repay all user's funds.
Not all trading pairs will be functional from the start though. I do appreciate the transparency and honest effort to react the best possible way, but I think they're relaunching the exchange before they have their stuff together.

Re: My friend told me a new concept Lightning Network, but I don't fully understand
by

Can someone explain it to me? I heard that the transaction speed would be much more faster, but I don't know how it works
It is very complex and it doesn't have a user-friendly interfacing feature quite yet.
If you really want to learn about it, start from standard features such as multisig. Then read up on state channels. And then you'll start to get a grasp.
Alternatively you can wait a relatively long time for LN to be in a more finished state, and use it without understanding its internals. But we're plenty of years away from that.

Re: Roger Ver owning Bitcoin.com

No one involved with bitcoin at the beginning had the foresight to register Bitcoin.com?

Instead we let Roger Ver have control over bitcoin.com with his shady intentions.  I still think he is a good crypto supporter and he wants to see everything succeed but what do you guys think of him owning bitcoin.com?
Someone involved with bitcoin at the beginning had the foresight, belief, financial success and appreciation for cryptocurrency and he bought bitcoin.com. His name was Roger Ver. Whether you like it or not, there's a reason why he is the guy who owns the domain.

Bitcoin was a way for individuals to show that they don't need the government to tell them what is money and what is not. I think it's ironic that the same people would rely on a specific centralized institution to tell them whether they're competent or not.

Re: Blokchain for tracking bullets and guns.
by

For me, this is a good idea. Because honestly, it will upgrade the way how people tracks the bullets and guns. And for this, it makes to mature even more the influence of the blockchain technology around the globe.
But what I don't understand about this idea is why we need a separate tracking blockchain for one specific industry, when many general-purpose ones can do the same job even better, and with more security.

All traders and those who hold crypto coins from long ago at least now can breathe with relief, because the crypto market has gotten green, we expect this situation to be even better next month, that's our hope
I don't expect a number of green months in a row, the market always corrects itself downwards when it reaches 4200 and upwards when we're at 3400. Unless something dramatic happens that increases adoption, we will continue trading sideways.

IEO-s are only here to stay if Bittrex manage to launch their own competing platform as well. With binance being a monopoly, they seem to be abusing this status. I for one hope that IEO-s become a thing for the long term.

Re: Stay Calm, IEOs aren't a threat
by

on 20/03/2019, 21:17:54 UTC
I have overhead many people in various bounty groups talking about how bounty campaigns are gonna die should we move on from ICO to rampant IEO issuance (maybe the exchanges shall take over the advertisements or so).

Fact is that if IEOs become a thing, many projects will arise and hence the services of bounty hunters shall be required again. Every project needs advertisements to expand and that's why we are there as bounty hunters. This is the same way ICOs grew in number.

All we should hope for is a better crypto ecosystem because at the end, we shall be needed for promotion in one way or the other
Bounty campaigns were always at the expense of buyers - they happened because ICO projects didn't really lose anything from having one. With IEO-s the exchange doesn't have any interest in initiating one.
The hope for bounties is the failure of IEO-s, with Binance not letting anyone in their IEO-s it is not impossible
