Re: Wallet Password

Hi everyone, I've been having a few problems with bitcoin core so i will start at the beginning and hope i can get help here, thanks.
It started a few weeks back, i ran bitcoin core through windows on to an external drive. the drive was playing up and taken ages so upgraded the pc and download direct to C drive . I had, have most things backed up including a few wallet.dat files. After i download the newest version of bitcore and synced the blocks i copied over the wallet.dat but the wallet would not sync. If i remembered right i went to the command line and asked it to sync the wallet and it did, A few weeks later i tried to open the wallet by clicking file Open wallet and an error message popped up (Berkelybatch Can't open database wallet.dat( dupllicates fileid ef95020000001700099f6ad130000000000000000 from wallet.dat) So after that i opened on bitcore settings change passphrase, i entered my old password, and replaced it with a new one i copied and pasted, restarted bitcoin core and now it will not accept my password, i am 100% sure it is the correct password, I have the old wall.dat files from 5yrs ago and the new ones backed up, i was looking for any input before i try to do anything,  can i upload the old wallet .dat file and enter the old passphrase or is that a no no? any help appreciated and thanks in advance for taking the time to read it.

if you bought the wallet its fake. Have 4 wallets with fake passwords (i.e. forged with no keys)

Hello,

On 22 of Luly i send £1.800 in Bitcoin to Blockchain.com. Did not touch it or check for about 3 weeks and when 12 of August I login to my account I noticed that on 9 of August my money was send to another wallets in 2 transactions. Did not get any confirmation on email that someone tried to enter my account. I wrote 2 emails to their support without any respond. Don"t know what to do now, can anyone help?

/Apologies if I wrote that topic in wrong place. I am new here.

If you have been a victim to a fraud you might have a keylogger or stealer installed. Better look over your security.

Did you have 2fa on your account?

I know a method how to find a private key for any publick key, but with modified base point(false BP).

If someone making a code for calculating a private key for real base point, I will share code for find a private key for false base point and REAL publick key.

This is a examles:

Code:

Any help are welcome !!!

Well, why dont you use Pollard on any public key exposed before 2015 with a balance. Much easier than what you are trying to do. Or even throw ina few custom spartan 6 to spin off that private key recovery.

Re: Wanted - 'old-normal' nation

So far it seems that the two best bets might be Switzerland and Iceland.  Sweden at least did the right thing vis-a-vis lockdowns, but they are so overloaded with their own set of deficiencies predating the scamdemic that I wouldn't really consider it.

Don't know much about the situation in Iceland but Switzerland used to be consider a safe haven especially with their banking system, until they were pressured into submission by the international Jewish lobby supported by the US.
https://www.thelocal.ch/20130715/swiss-banks-pay-1-24-billion-to-holocaust-victims

The same lobby is now trying to put pressure on Poland.
https://www.thejc.com/news/world/us-senate-urges-poland-to-compensate-jewish-property-confiscated-by-the-nazis-1.487207

In both cases the media was trying to show Jews as victims and countries that hold this former Jewish property as debtors, which they were not.
According to the international law, abandoned property is taken over by the state.
The case proves that your property can be taken away from you if enough outside pressure is put on your country, even when a country used to be seen as safe and independent like Switzerland.

As for Swedes, they showed no spine during the migrant crisis. They do what the Union demands of them.

In some ways all nations are deteriorating somewhat. But Switzerland still has some great thinkers. Andreas Kalcker is one of these https://andreaskalcker.com/en/. He has clarified the cure for Covid for us https://www.brighteon.com/8bbdf94d-1473-4732-9570-f7b6f785b42a.

Cool

Switzerland seems nice on paper, but in the end you are still in the middle of Europe. They are tying to be something else but in the end just the very similar to the EU.

Iceland is very wealthy, and very remote. I think it's a good place to step back from the craziness in the world. No wonder Bobby Fisher choose that country to chill out  Cheesy Depends if you are into a cold place or prefer the sun. Also on how much money you have, which languages to speak.

In the end if the developed nations keep failling, I would prefer an island in the middle America or South America. You definitely get more for your money, but with a higher security reason.

St. Helena would be perfectly remote and a much better climate.

Most of middle america or south america is so poor you would get killed for 1 BTC

I would personally choose a country like Sweden where you can have a safe base and social security,  while being able to travel to warm countries in the winter half year.

If you are looking at the carribean, St Barts is by far the safest choice, and since its a French territory you can work and life as easy as in EU (if you have an EU passport that is)

And believe me, I didnt google this, its a first hand experience.

Re: BTC Reward. How to compile Electrum standalone executable from Python source cod

Anyone know how to compile Electrum standalone executable from Python source code?

Or can teach me/show me via RDP, I will pay in BTC. Name your price.

Please no time wasters, only if you have successfully done this before.

What is your coding experience and what are you trying to achieve? Just compile or you try modify some of the code?

If you ever done coding before the github page is pretty straight forward, if you never compiled a pythin script before I would recommend trying a simpler code repo to get some skin in the game before trying a complex code like electrum

Is there an RPC command to only output private keys with a balance from a wallet.dat?
Not private keys, but listunspent can display your wallet's UTXOs.
The output includes the address(es) that you can use with dumpprivkey (requires walletpassphrase for encrypted wallets).

I have a wallet with a few hundred addresses that crashes, but one or two addresses has balance, is it possible to print balance addresses only in bitcoin-qt?
If they always crash, you can check them manually by dumping the whole wallet using dumpwallet command using an offline Bitcoin core with fresh data directory.

Commands mentioned:

Thanks, this solved my problem partly

Oops, i missed that. But personally i disagree with "politically correct answer", since IMO it's about ethical and if you can't setup your own full node + API services, you still could use public Bitcoin explorer rather than private Bitcoin explorer with sloppy security.
As discussed above, if using the script in the OP, you are most likely searching for thousands (or more likely millions/billions) of addresses, and a public block explorer is going to rate limit your searches.

I realize that fact, but it doesn't change there's ethical problem of using private Bitcoin explorer with sloppy security / without owner's permission.

P.S. this is my last reply to prevent further off-topic / topic derailing

would it not be faster to get the API key for blockchain.com and run a python script?

I have such tools and it outputs all balances with tx numbers

you can go to iancoleman.io and enter your seed, there you will find all keys.

Or you could export the wallet.aes.json backup and decrypt it, you will find xpriv which is the master key.

no need to install an external tool.

Вот этот кошелек с нулевым балансом: blockchain.com/btc/address/1NFv3Ls7k9Dr8kwciHmNzfGQjdwud8Lrfu

I have installed electrum on my android phone but it says its watch only, I can see the default_wallet in the list of wallets. Is it possible to export the file to see the private key? this is the only wallet on my phone.

Did you maybe restart the wallet during wallet creation?

First of all, is the phone rooted or not? There are several tools that lets you examine the phone file system, but in order to be able to examine app data you might need to root it. What version of android is it and what phone model?

The only thing you should NOT do is re installing another version. A very useful tool to clone the phone data is Disk Drill from celeverfiles

Re: Hex pattern for electrum wallet
by
ewaspiro
on 02/04/2020, 20:27:58 UTC
That depends on whether or not a password was used and/or whether or not full file encryption was used.

Electrum supports THREE different options:

1. Unencrypted (wallet is stored in plaintext)
  - No password required

2. "Secrets only" encrypted (wallet is still plaintext, but the "secrets" (private keys/seeds etc) are encrypted)
  - Wallet will open without the password, but password required to send transactions/view seed and private keys etc

3. Full file encryption
  - Wallet will not even open without password

In any case, the file itself is just a simple text file... not sure you'll find a "standard" hex pattern that will guarantee identification of an Electrum wallet file.

In cases #1 & #2, a plaintext file search for: "wallet_type" should find those...

There is no hex pattern as its a hashed encrypted wallet. Only hint is that the hash ends with == so you could search for that
In case #3, I've some that end in == and some that end in = and some that don't... Undecided

with only the = its very common pattern

Re: Electrum sent bitcoin to unknown address
by

on 27/03/2020, 17:54:31 UTC
Hi,
I typed in a friends wallet id in Electrum to send some bitcoin and confirmed it was correct. However when I checked the next morning to verify that it had sent, it's showing that it went to completely different wallet that I've never seen. I've never had this happen. What could have gone wrong?
Using a Mac with VPN and running the latest version of Electrum from an external HD.

Have you downloaded utorrent and downloaded any games or pirated software?

Have you clicked on unknown PDF, word, EXCEL documents, videos on youtube, or allowed java script to be run on your computer?

Did you upgrade electrum or download from other place than electrum.org.

any YES above would probably mean you are having a keylogger or mem clipper.

Did you use ctrl-c ctrl-v when entering the wallet address or manually?

sorry for your loss, but you have been HACKED
