crypto will not replace fiat. 'Both will work in parallel'
there will be the government controlled one - centralized and there will be bitcoin - decentralized

We all should use bitcoin because its the number 1 and to keep it on the number 1 spot there needs to be transactions, acceptance and awareness.

No i am not interested or willing to take the chance with coins that are in a development stage and may in fact be overtaken by a coin with the same tech.

Initially it was Information!
The more we get involved with crypto the more up to date information we need because it is an ever evolving technology.
I think if we sit back for any length of time we will have a missed a lot.
Bitcointalk forum is the go to forum on the web.

Why are some people so infatuated with seeking an answer to whether bitciin will be toppled from its number 1 position?
This question has been asked many times before.
Nobody knows what will happen in the future and it certainly wont be an instant event, if ots goint to happen i would think it would happen gradually, like ethereum.

What is the point of forking a coin which is almost perfect?
No point other than to scam people.

The Litecoin team have nothing to do with litecoin cash,
I wont be getting involved.

How can it be?
Why would any country accept a totally global digital currency as legal tender in their country?
A currency with open source coding and not controlled by anyone,
A currency which can be forked by anyone at any time.
The answer my friend is no.

I think posting good content is one thing,
receiving merit for those good constructive posts is another.

Its all a bit subjective, what one person finds constructive another may not.
from what i see so far the vast majority of people will not be ranking up in the next number of months.

There are a lot of good posts going unrewarded and it is possible for some to become disheartened

Re: What would happen if another cryptocurrency took Bitcoins place in Market Cap?
by
eyesopen
on 23/02/2018, 12:33:03 UTC
So what do you think would happen if another Cryptocurrency (Example Monero / Ethereum etc) were to take Bitcoins spot as first in market cap?
It will happen if people lose confidence over Bitcoin its dominance decrease every year so theres a possibility that other cryptocurrency will overtake its throne. If that happens it will bring positive effect to the market specially to the prices, some crypto will be less dependent over it.

Is its dominance decreasing or is the more adoption of crypto in general, it doesnt sound it but it is different I think?
there are more and more projects being created so they are going to attract more and more users and these currencies are all paired to BTC.
I know most people dont rate market cap but looking at bitcoin this time last the market cap was around $18,500,000,000
and today its around $174,000,000,000.

This is great news.
This will also help with Bitcoin in the future being adopted more by traders hopefully.
Next step is to get mass adoption and people using the segwit addresses.

We need possibly better education too for those who may not be up to speed https://coinpupil.com/bitcoin/what-is-bitcoin/difference-between-segwit-segwit2x/

What do you guys think? Are we going back to 6K or will it go up again, with this beeing just a healty dip?

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-drops-below-10k-as-crypto-markets-dip/

Bitcoins volatility will always result in this king of scenario,
just when you thought we were coming out of a down trend it falls back a bit,
just when people thought that in November and early december 2017 it rocket ship was on its way to the moon and beyond,
it fell back to $6100.

Yes it might go back to $6100 but it wont stay there.

Re: Bitcoin Theft Going Offline: In-Person Attacks Becoming More Common
by

That's terrible news. How should we avoid it?
Don't tell anyone about what you are holding , just don't talk crypto with anybody .
Even if you trust them , they can tell someone and that is how it goes.
Just pick one person you really trust that in case something happens to your coins aren't lost.
If you hold a big amount maybe make a separate wallet , in case stuff like this happens you just give them a small amount of your stash.
But stuff like this will happen more and more as crypto gets more populair , so be safe.

This is exactly what I would have suggested,

but if you are using crypto to pay for stuff in public or for buying crypto in person it is hard to conseal the fact you have it.

Best thing as above is to keep a crypto low profile and make a dummy wallet with a nominal amount of currency on it.

I also have silver coins of varying silver content but I wouldnt be selling them for silver spot price.
They are worth more to a collector than for melting although collectors are dwindling.
You will be getting spot price for those Australian Kangooroo and ELIZABETH II's but im interested to know how it transpires.

The 3 that spring to my mind immediately are Monero, Zcash and Dash with Monero being the pick of the bunch with Dash following close.

Bitcloud BTDX a masternode coin like Dash in my signature also has a privacy feature attached to its wallet which could be worth investigating
further but im not sure if it has all he features you require.

"PrivateSend is the name of the decentralized mixing implementation that obfuscates and
provides a greater degree of privacy/anonymity to the transactions of the Bitcloud network."

Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage

A question on the Wallet,
I want to upgrade to the latest wallet
so do I have to download the blockchain again or can i extract it from the outdated wallet and just update it?

No need to download the blockchain again unless you face an issue synchronizing. You can check intructions for upgrading here (very simple: essentially you close Sia and replace the old installation. Next startup can take a long time):  https://siawiki.tech/client/updating_the_interface

Thanks Hakkane, I got the updated wallet downloaded, installed and running the synchronization to bring it up to date.
No need to download the entire blockchain again.

In general I admit did not expect such growth of the general from this coin for all history. Probably it is connected with the general growth of all cryptocurrencies. And differently I understand nothing. I regret that earlier when there was an opportunity to buy coins very cheap, I did not make it.

If you are looking at cheap coins, SIA is currently $0.027 so if you are looking for a long term investment in a real working
technology now is the time before the new mining equipment starts landing and is implemented.

Very nice work.
I imagine you are using stencils, made by yourself, if so good technique.
Can I ask what type of paint do you use?

It might be no harm to maybe post some close-up images.
