So, I owe BTCe a big apology.

It turns out that my bank never sent the wire. Crazy, my internet banking shows the transaction as a confirmed fully processed payment. I trust my bank, and never for a second thought they could be the problem.

So - unreserved apology to BTCe. I've made about 7 or 8 transfers to them, and this was the only one that had a problem.

Their customer service however, is appalling. I've spent weeks on end waiting on responses to support tickets, and the responses I have received are largely unhelpful, curt, and misleading (I think this is a language barrier issue).

I spent quite some time at one point thinking they had found my deposit, and were processing it, when in fact they were pointing out that they had already credited the deposit for which I'd supplied an incorrect SWIFT confirmation (Had several deposits for similar amounts sent at roughly the same time). Don't assume you understand what they are telling you in ticket responses, unless it is very clearly spelled out.

With any normal business, I would have expected this drama to perhaps drag into 2, maybe 3 days, given a few of the confusing elements of the problem. BTCe took just about 2 months.

But I no longer think that they're scammers.

Update:

I thought that BTCe had located my deposit and were taking it off hold.

This wasn't the case. They were referring to a another deposit I had made several days previously, so I'm no further ahead, 1 month and money still missing.

Mr BTCe.com, if you're looking at this, my ticket: #UMP-837-42211

All fields were entered correctly in the wire transfer - exactly the same as the previous 6 deposits I have made.

Update:

I have just had a response from BTCe, giving me the date and amount of my deposit.

I haven't seen anything at all that says 'hold' on my account, but on the off chance, I sent them a copy (via support ticket) of a bank statement. Got a response 20 minutes later.

Nothing credited to my account yet, but I'm a lot more hopeful now! Try doing this if you haven't already. Looks like it might work.

Terrible customer service if this is the issue, but at least now there might be a bit of hope!

PROTIP noobs. I've seen this guy all over TrollBOX on BTC-E and Cryptsy.

eMail is used to brute force your dumb ass security question of where do you Live and what color is your car (that your dumb ass posts to faceBook).

edit: mild social engineering skills and you're in the money. ya'll need jesus.

On BTCe. Never visit cryptsy.

Any concerns - open a new disposable gmail account, and email me from there.

Can jesus get our money back? What's his phone number?

I made 2 SEPA deposit to BTC-e , got it after 24h on the online account each time. Sent ID scans, they removed the money hold asap. Just sent cryptos out - all went OK.

I guess they're having troubles following the increasing amount of users and dealing with transfer problems...

Actually, why is the BTC/$ value on BTC-e so far below the BTC/$ value on MtGox?

The difference is about 200 $ at the moment.
interesting explanation here :

No, this is nothing about money holds. Money holds appear in your account.

People have gone for weeks and weeks on end with money vanishing, and support appear to have been instructed to ignore tickets raised in relation to these thefts.

Hi Everyone, we're getting a lot of interest in this post, and a lot of people emailing me.

Please - email me your name, date of deposit/withdrawal, amount, copy of SWIFT confirmation from your bank.

We need all this information to hand over to the authorities. Partial lots of information won't make it into our file.

Also, please help publicise this post.

If you've lost money, please get in touch!  -- btcewatcher@gmail.com

DO NOT DO THIS. YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHO THE OP IS.
Follow up with proper authorities directly like he suggests.

Well, not much I could do with the information I don't think...

Do you think the proper authorities are more likely to listen to someone who has lost a few thousand, being scammed on the internet, or someone with a dossier of scammed victims amounting to millions in losses?

Hey Buggrock - you know there are judicial systems in the rest of the world too right? I think a lot of them predate the US one ; )

I've lost $3500 to BTCe.

Have sent a number of wires to them previously with no problem. Now, it's been over 3 weeks with no deposit in my account after sending them money. I have contacted Mayzus Financial Services (Bank Payee for international wires), and they confirm that BTCe has been credited with my deposit.

BTCe refuse to respond to a support ticket raised 2 weeks ago.

I know of at least 10 other people who have not received money from either deposits or withdrawals from BTCe. Over US$70,000 between 3 people whose amounts I know.

I propose, we band together, get as many details for each person: Name date of deposit/withdrawal, amount, copy of SWIFT confirmation from your bank and take it to UK authorities. While BTCe is a Bulgarian company, their banking agent is UK based, so that would be a good place to start.

If your're a US citizen, consider: http://www.ic3.gov/faq/default.aspx

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C).

  • Q: Can I file a complaint if I am a citizen of the United States but have been victimized by an individual or company outside of the United States?
If one of the two parties involved is located within the United States, please feel free to file a complaint.
