Bitcoin is not anonymous, but rather pseudonymous.
by
feeling sound
on 05/08/2022, 10:33:52 UTC
The average person think Bitcoin is anonymous which just isn’t true.

All Bitcoin transactions can be seen on the blockchain and be tracked from the person who bought or sold on a KYC exchange.

This is why I love crypto in general, imagine every single person being able to see how the governments / politicians really spend tax money, you’ll be able to see everything on the blockchain!

If you want to be truly anonymous, you should use Monero (XMR) - no one knows which wallets have how much or where transactions come / go to.

What would you do if all crypto exchanges just shut down? What’s your plan?
by
feeling sound
on 05/08/2022, 06:27:01 UTC
The question is based on curiosity more than anything else. I’m not being flippant, but seriously, what if all exchanges simply shut down? What’s your plan?

What would you do? What would be your recourse? Even those that say “not your keys, …blah, blah, blah” what would be your plan to attempt to recover or exchange your coin without an exchange?

Is this situation even plausible? Could it happen? It would seem as of late that almost all exchanges are under some sort of scrutiny or investigation by the SEC or other regulatory entity. Without real regulations in place (other than the IRS) cryptocurrency is really in a weird Wild West predicament with so much uncertainty and FUD to go around. Twice.

I would love to hear some wild scenarios that you guys have thought through. Not only that, but if you are a major bag holder or a dedicated HODL’r, what would be your coarse of action?

Do you have a plan or an exit strategy should things go south?

why I believe BTC will NEVER go to Zero
by

on 05/08/2022, 01:36:27 UTC
If you had one billion dollars and someone threatens to take all of it away - how much of your wealth would you spend to save it? A small amount? Half? Most? If your choices where either keep 10% or 0% of your wealth, what would you choose?

Like it or not, there are quite the number of really big whales out there and it is in their best interest to defend their source of wealth. Sure, the banks and corrupt politicians have an insensitive to see Bitcoin fall. But someone fighting to defend something will ALWAYS fight harder and longer than someone attacking it.

Also, anti-bitcoin organizations are finding it exceedingly hard to receuit the knowledgeable people needed to further their agenda, since all the knowledgeable people end up switching to the pro-bitcoin side. Either because it pays better or simply because it is the right thing to do. BTC

Platforms to accept Bitcoin as payment?
by
feeling sound
on 04/08/2022, 16:04:29 UTC
I run a small business and believe in BTC. I'd like to contribute and accept it as payment. It's a service industry so I'd love to be able to send them a payment link that would work but I can't find anything thst really works like that.

Could I get a wallet I use just for that? Where I can leave the payment QR code in the email and people can scan it if they choose to pay via Bitcoin?

Why is Solana still a thing?

Solana goes completely against the idea that cryptocurrency must be decantralised. It's possibly the most centralised "mainstream" altcoin with a shady team that has historically lied about not only the fundamentals of the project like the circulating supply, but the shady members of the team have also been caught for fraud.

Much more advanced, more decantralised and Secure Level 2 competitors like MATIC exist, which have had infinitely better uptime, and security. Solana is not the cheapest, nor the fastest competitor either, so that's not in it's favour. There's few projects. Fewer with any reasonable legitimacy. It's just a hyper inflated L2 that has nothing holding it up other than hype and NFTs as fundamentals.

The only thing Solana has been consistent in, is underperforming, having outages, missing road map targets, getting hacked, and making false promises.

How many time does SOL have to be hacked, fucked, and stomped to actually die?

There is no free or easy money in this world.
by
feeling sound
on 04/08/2022, 05:27:06 UTC
I decided to create this post after seeing the number of people getting scammed increase. The statement in the title is something you should generally live by, and it is especially true when you are dealing with the stock or crypto markets. There is no free or easy money in this world. You would have to be one in a million to luck out and find a coin or stock that will moon, and a further one in 10 million to actually hold that asset until it does and cash out at the right time. This is somewhat relevant but besides the point.

If you see a comment offering free money if you click on a link and follow the steps. Scam. If someone DMs you and asks you to send them money so that they can invest it for you and return double. Scam. If you see a YouTube video where is claims that you can get a high x% ROI by investing in an obscure coin. Scam. Literally anything that leaves an initial impression of "wow, I can make a lot of money if I do that". SCAM.

The crypto space is still relatively new and much about it is still unknown. It's the perfect place where people who are recently joining with promises of riches will get burned. Don't play with what you're unsure of, but if you do, keep the statement in the title in mind.

Are we at the bottom? no one knows, but market is doing fine.

market is doing fine.
How much deeper market gonna dive? Many believe we are near bottom. And there is a big reason for it. Market acting surprisingly fine despite everything.

First it was interest rates. We knew it will be around 75 and it was. And market rallied (relief rally?) And it did not stop when numbers came in and US GDP growth was negative for the second consecutive quarter (which is a big recession indicator).

Why is that? Many think it is because we have allrdy saw the bottom and that market is currently "undervalued" so it is kind of numb to bad news. It very well might be the case, or it might not. Frankly It is not about where the bottom is (if there is one) but rather when there will be room for real growth! Current situation is:

We might allrdy be in recession.

Inflation is still here.

War in Ukraine continue to have an impact on energy and food price.

Feds made it clear that Interest rates will be raised more and more until inflation is under control.

Do you see any good signal that we might get out of this mess? Bottom or not until these fundamental problems are solved I just can't see a bull market coming.

Re: How do you know when to sell?
by
feeling sound
on 04/08/2022, 01:04:12 UTC
There is not a moment where is better to take profits.

When you start investing you should have a strategy with a well-studied asset allocation. So with periodic rebalancing you will buy when the price goes down and sell when the price goes up, as the allocation will be unbalanced by the market performances of your coins.

Obviously it is an extreme simplification, but I advise you to start studying how to build a well-organized portfolio, otherwise it cannot be considered investment, but trading/gambling.

How do you (personally) decide when Bitcoins are a buy? - gut feeling, just DCA to a certain amount, only buying below 25,000 or ...?

Thanks!

I've been allocating some savings to BTC. I keep seeing exchanges fall, and not your keys not your coin. I've been using the Coinbase wallet app. Is that safe?

If Coinbase goes down am I out?
I need to look into a cold wallet but for right now am I good?

How to take profits?
by

on 03/08/2022, 16:46:39 UTC
I am mostly a hodler no matter the market going down or up. But sometimes I get the advice to take some profits.

Example: my investment of 300 euro becomes 500 euro. Is it better to take out my initial investment or only take the profit ? And reinvest that profit ?

How do you guys do this ?

I just feel like i'm missing potential profits by not selling and seeing my potential profits go up and down.

How do whales keep their massive amounts of bitcoin?

Do they use cold wallets for it like everyone else? If so, do they keep everything in one wallet or do they split the bitcoin into several different wallets?

Let's say 1/3 in Trezor, 1/3 in Ledger, 1/3 in BitBox02? I'm currently trying to transfer my bitcoin from an exchange to a cold wallet for the first time, but I'm wondering if it's safe to keep everything in one wallet from one company.

Can Decentralization Exist Without Blockchain?
by

on 03/08/2022, 10:36:52 UTC
More specifically - can decentralized justice/dispute resolution exist without blockchain  technology, or would that just be Online Dispute Resolution? Kleros brings interesting insights to decentralized arbitration. It is built on Ethereum and handles smart contract disputes. However, can a platform such as Kleros, with its use of crowdsourcing and game theoretic incentives, work without blockchain but still be decentralized?

How do you keep track of your portfolio stats?
by

on 03/08/2022, 04:04:30 UTC
How do you keep track of your portfolio stats?

I currently have a wallet holding all of my cryptos, and I was wondering what the cost basis for each of my crypto is or how much of an actual net profit or loss that I’ve made from each investment. I’ve used different exchanges and all are held in a wallet that doesn’t keep track of this information.

Do you guys have a method other than manually tracking information like your cost basis with a spreadsheet? I’m considering just biting the bullet and doing it that way but want to make sure that there might be a much easier way of doing this.

Thanks.

how much you would need to invest to get 1 million dollars USD?
by
feeling sound
on 03/08/2022, 03:45:50 UTC
This is how much you need to invest during the downturn to net 1 million if it ever reaches ATH again.

Been seeing a few popular post and comment asking how much you would need to invest to get 1 million dollars USD if the coin ever reaches ATH again. Here I calculated how much you would need to invest into a coin to net 1 million.

It's just for fun and doesn't take it too seriously since each coin will have its own tokenomics/inflation-deflation-burns. But I think it's a pretty good rough estimate.

the table is ranked by market cap.
