Re: FREE ASIC's!

Hmmm, kinda iffy.   I would think a person who wants to give out demo units would post in custom hardware section as opposed to "newbie."

Everyone should check out the custom hardware section and read the posts concerning current ASIC development closely before opting in for any "free" ASIC miners.  This is about risky as sending cash to some troubled Nigerian prince.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if any of you could help me with this problem. I searched for it everywhere but can't find a sollution.
I just started CG miner and here's what it says:

Anyone?

What kind of hardware are you mining with?  It might be the difficulty is set too high, so you will need to adjust that using your worker controls that your pool provides.  If that does not work, I suggest trying another pool.  It also appears that you are only calculating a few shares before a new block is detected, so that points to the fact that you aren't able to calculate any valid shares before a new block comes in.  Best of luck with your mining endeavors.

Re: Newbie Mining Rig Advice

I guess I'm a Newbie so I have to post this here.
-----------------------------------------------

I am considering building a GPU Mining rig (Yes i know about ASICs). My question is....

How much is a Nvidia GTX-680 over a Diamond AMD 7950? Is there a better graphics card I should be looking at to build a GPU mining rig?
Can either of there cards be linked together? for instance... if I want to buy another card of the same type in the future.

And what type of cooling would be good?

Thanks in advance,
de704

Air cooled 7950s are the way to go.  You'll need PCI-E risers if you want to put more than 3 onto any reasonably priced motherboard.

Litecoin mining is the way to go right now (or some other alt coin such as FTC).  Right now a 7950 will mine about 1 ltc a day depending on pool luck and cost anywhere between $0.20-$0.40 a day depending on how much your electricity costs and whether you've undervolted the card to gain better hashes/watt.  Even if you were to mine Bitcoin with the 7950, you'd still end up with around 90% of the value (converted to fiat) compared to Litecoin at today's difficulty according to dustcoin/coinwarz.
