That is the nature of bitcoin and other digital currencies so i am not surprised anymore as to why bitcoins will always go up and down from time to time but even with that, you can still earn profit out from a very small change of bitcoin's market price.

I do not believe that. ETH is a coin that appears after the BTC and is widely trusted and used as an effective cum money. Currently the price of ETH is down from previous time.

Yes you cab hold your altcoins for year or two but it depends on the altcoin that you are holding because therw are some alts that have only a value for a short period of time and don't grow anymore or they became dead.

Yes risk is everywhere and investment is not for everybody. If your not a strong person its not for you. High profit has always high risk. If you dont want to take this risk and dont want to lose just put your money on your pocket.

HODL is good, but of course you need to rebalance your portfolio often, like every week or so, it's very important. You take some profit back, to invest in something else. It's like that you can build a strong portfolio.

There is no constant amount mate of how much you can use to get your started. However, I would tell you to not invest too much, especially if you're just starting with your ventures.
