BURST.  Completely new algorithm for securing the blockchain, based on proof of storage capacity rather than proof of computation.  Much more efficient than existing cryptocurrencies, lower marginal cost for mining, therefore lower transaction costs.  Forked from and tracking NXT, so it's got all of NXT's sophisticated transactions, as well as a few besides.

I received the princely sum of 1 satoshi from this account recently.  What is the purpose of these tiny transactions?  20000 satoshis for three such transactions to random addresses is going to add up pretty quickly, so it seems unlikely that they're intended to bloat the blockchain.

Isn't every blockchain vulnerable to a similar attack?  For instance in bitcoin when you get a block you could delay releasing it until immediately after you see the next winner.  Some people who are closer to you on the network than to the next winner will then be forked.  If you had enough mining power and fast connections to different places in the world, you might be able to fork off a significant amount of hash power this way.

I also wondered if he was one of the unlucky people caught after the SR bust.

Just watching this part.  It looks like the shop owner admitted complicity in Silk Road drug transactions.

52m23s:

I would say there's around maybe 5 customers that know about [the Silk Road] and use it.  It's a very small percentage of the people that come in.  But the people who do know about it specifically come here to use it.  What the customers do with the computers is pretty much their business.

Followed by footage of a drug dealer walking into the shop, using one of the computers there to browse the cannabis options on SR, and describing how he's moved to supplying his deals from SR.

That really surprised me.  I hope everyone involved sought good legal advice before deciding to include that in the film.

Re: Will EXO destroy Nxt, NEM, Node aka java crap?

Java is interpreted, not compiled; it's under the control of Oracle Corporation. It's probably fine for a prototyping language and for quick interactive demos. But it does add a layer of complexity, which slows things down (not a huge problem with today's hardware) and creates another failure point. Silly peasant vs. master race rants aside, it does not strike me as the wisest choice to implement a wallet in java.

Java is compiled, there is an implementation of java which basically exists because other corporations need a not-Oracle java, absolutely not under Oracle control, it has a very cumbersome syntax and culture for prototyping, and has approximately the same complexity as the C++ runtime.

How's EXO doing, anyway?  This disinterred thread is the first I've heard of it.

If you had a section which reliably reported on new technical developments like burst's hard drive mining or cryptonote's ring signatures, I would pay to read it.  It is quite painful to keep up when the only source is this drama-drenched forum.

I listened to the interview back when this thread started, and it does have a kind of "underpants gnomes" feel to it.  The VP doesn't really articulate clearly how the coin is going to solve the cloud-support problem, why it needs Turing-complete scripting, or the basis for choosing Ethereum as the base.  It's possible that as a VP, he just doesn't understand these things, though.

SSD is the only one with Stenography.

Where can I read about SSD's steganographic features?  I didn't see it mentioned in the ANN thread's OP.

Some time ago, Knowles said he's abandoning it due to disinterest from NXT core developers.  However, if you follow the link I gave above you'll see that NxtAT is still very much alive.  Presumably Knowles gave the funds to the developers who are continuing the project.  You might ask them for verification.

Oh well shit...you watched the video!!HODL the phone!  everyone! everyone!! he watched the video!! and now he is some sort of an exderp.

Vitalik's latest talk is very interesting.  He's extremely verbose, as ever, but I'm impressed with the honesty and thoughtfulness with which he's facing up to the potential problems.

Wow, awesome stuff, thanks again!

TC might be a bad idea, anyway.  Seems like any sufficiently powerful cryptocurrency may contain the seeds of its own destruction.
