Isn't this the basis of the current political system? Maybe one day Dash will be big enough to have Dash political parties and Masternode Senators!  Grin

Walter

Democracy is terrible. Delegative democracy is probably less terrible. Delegative democracy without egalitarianism(you have to have 1000 dash to vote) might actually work.

I'm considering some sort of endorsement committee, which is elected by the network to review what's happening and produce short overviews. We could start with just a simple business committee, to review the legitimacy of the projects. There could even be multiple of these committees eventually and a masternode operator could mirror their voting habits if they liked the research.

I recommend allowing the masternodes to delegate their votes.

A major problem with dash governance is the problem with all voting systems, rational ignorance. A guy with a single masternode is very unlikely to cast the winning vote and any individual vote will only marginally effect his dash holdings, so he has very little incentive to cast an educated vote. Even reading a summary of each proposal is unlikely to make it onto his to do list, probably even voting isn't going to make it. However if he has only one decision to make(who would best represent my interests?) that effects all of the proposals then he has a reasonable level of incentive to educate himself about his options and check in occasionally about what his delegate is doing.

Something is wrong on your end if you can't mix 20 dash with 8 rounds in less than 2 hours.  Or else your settings are made to wait a long time between rounds.

Mixing is not at all as stable as it needs to be. It hangs when I mix almost every time and I need to restart my client or zap the wallet to get it going again.

Dash isn't a democracy and it is not egalitarian. These are strengths not weaknesses. If you want a cryptocurrency that gives everyone an equal vote feel free to create it. It will fail.

As it is Dash is too close to a democracy and has to some extent the problems of democracy like a lack of incentive to vote much less make informed votes.

So it looks like the evolution privacy model will be one round of darksend with masternode blinding. Is that it? Is that enough?
where did that come from?

AA is a bitcoin maximalist. He believes that anything an altcoin can do bitcoin can do either as bitcoin or on a sidechain and bitcoin will ultimately be the one world currency because network effect. I used to be a bitcoin maximalist in no small part due to AA's influence. However the blocksize debacle quickly disillusioned me on that. If bitcoin cant raise the fucking blocksize how the fuck are they going to implement instantx or whatever?

Anyway if sidechains can actually work(a big if in my book) I see no reason dash couldnt be a sidechain. The masternodes can be staked in bitcoin and be paid in fees. Even budgets could be funded with fees. We are already paying for those things in inflation, there is no reason they couldnt be paid for in fees if people really wanted a dash sidechain.

DASH is doing great on the marketing from but seems to be falling further and further behind in terms of privacy tech. Darksend cannot be compared (from a privacy standpoint) to CrytoNote/Confidential Transactions much less Zerocash which is now in alpha. Is there any chance DASH could try to implement one of these more privacy focused technologies?

Evolution is going to have a new privacy/fungibility model. It has not yet been announced but it seems rather unlikely that it will be worse than darksend.

Yeah, the Evolution demo ED gave earlier today.

I watched it and I don't remember anything about it being mandatory. The user accounts are trading addresses in order to send transactions. Why couldn't you just send to an address without using an account?

You guys are talking about user accounts like they will be mandatory. Is there any reason to believe they will be?

Explain? I don't understand?

I failed at communicating, I meant "a spike like that." If that doesn't help just google liquidity it should make sense.

Seems like we have 100K in sells from those who missed the fun.

A spike like that indicates insufficient liquidity. Liquidity is being provided.

Is that less than 5000 Dash on the sell side on Polinex?  Shocked very thin!!!!!

Lack of coins for sale doesn't mean much. Its not exactly hard to move more coins onto an exchange. There's 32k for sale at polo atm any way.

That makes no sense to me, can you explain?

I am just worrying about what happened to bitcoin happening to dash, but I don't know the details enough to do more than just generally worry about it. I assume if there was a hostile takeover of the foundation they could do some bullshit like fork dash and prevent anyone else from using the trademark. I don't know how the foundation is governed though.

Would anyone be interested in a budget proposal that is actually a non-binding resolution that Mike Hearn is a great guy and sends like 1 dash to a burn address or some donation address? It is another a cool thing we could use the budget system for.
