Re: Anyone interested in a service to minimize bitcoin volatility while preserving
by

I;m deciding how the payout structure would be

I would offer a daily dividend of .25% of principle ($1.5 out of every $600) that would be paid out of my non-bitcoin related activities (this would be paid to encourage people to remain in the fund and to ).

I am able to minimize bitcoin volatility the way way I do through stock trading: selling call options (a covered call) & market timing. Due to bitcoin's abnormally high volatility selling options can be very lucrative allowing you to make money in any market condition, including declines.

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/optioninvestor/08/covered-call.asp

For example, using Black-Scholes option pricing on bitcoin with a $700 strike, $700 present price, and 1/2 year time until maturity, and 200% volatility. Such a contract is worth about $360. By selling these contracts I am able to collect guaranteed $360 per bitcoin at the end of six months even if bitcoin does nothing. I would only lose money if bitcoin falls below $350 after six months.

http://www.mystockoptions.com/black-scholes.cfm?ticker=&s=700&x=700&t=.5&r=.001%25&v=200&calculate=Calculate

what exchange buys and sells options? or are you just going to start it yourself? lol

The problem with bulls is that they don't have any significant amount of fiat now. It is only bears that can really buy at this stage - you just need to convince them Smiley

Nah I think the bulls are in shock seeing they left alot of money on the table.

My money is in my cold storage. your money are on the table, however, and I'll pick it up soon Smiley

See, you are selling something that I know costs alot more. Like a little kid who found a gold bar and is glad that somebody exchanges it for a candy - glad to, come again. And you can probably understand why you look so funny to us, with all that candy in your pockets and a smile of a winner Smiley

LOL I look funny? You dont know how to trade/invest. What did you think the price was just going to go up forever? Do you realize how much market cap that was just lost(if it ever even existing in the first place)?

Yep those are pretty cheap; if I was sitting with fiat in hand I'd start building my position right about now.

However don't expect people who already have solid positions to jump in and buy all at any price. Why would we when silly panicky bears could probably give us even cheaper coins? I can wait for your desperation, not in a hurry Smiley Continue to push lower, single digits are ahead! And we'll continue to take away your coins from you when we see fit, thanks!

Your funny. I love all the cool calm and collected people on here. I think when you get it a certain price point all credibility will be gone. What happened in the past may not repeat itself.

Any publicity is good publicity. Especially when it is all so lopsided. I would say the ratio is 1:9. One positive bitcoin article versus nine negative. Yes it is a bad time right now but this is setting up as the ultimate contrarian play. The media is pulling out all the stops : scare tactics, plummeting price projections, etc. The powers that be control the media and basically "feed" us what they want us to hear. Like the story that JP Morgan is  re-patenting a virtual currency that it developed years ago? If it didnt work then why would it now? Give me a break. If anything they probably are the buyers on BTC China. The majority is always wrong and the tides will turn. I havent seen one article over the last week or so defend bitcoin? There is your catalyst.... as soon as you start seeing articles defending bitcoin you are golden. Thoughts?

Re: Has someone doubled their BTC stash on this correction?
by

on 07/12/2013, 18:09:21 UTC
I did take some profits by taking cheap coins from chinese panic sellers.
Could not double but maybe its not to late

how many did you buy?

I am doing Litecoins and sold 30 yesterday at 34 USD.
Today BTC-e filled my order to buy 46 LTC at 22 USD.
So 16 LTC profit last night. Thats 500/600 USD once this dip ends

nice job!

If you have a good idea and are unwilling to share it, you will not be trusted. Even if your idea requires centralised capital,  then your idea will be copied anyway. It's just a good idea to let us help you make the idea work. We all benefit from successful Bitcoin ideas because we're investors already by owning Bitcoin.

I hear you all. But not divulging what I am working on should not be misconstrued as hiding something or being dishonest. Sorry but if the idea sucks I get bashed, and if the idea is great someone is going to start working on it and stealing it. So it is a lose-lose for me.

Let me propose something to everyone: I have an idea/application that will in an indirect way stabilize the wild price swings of bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. I know business' are slowly accepting bitcoins, but this is strictly for the most part a novelty. I think the first stable currency might be the one that goes totally balls to the wall mainstream. Would you guys be interested? Would you be interested in shares or being part owner of the company? This will be totally out in the open, everything on the table type of deal. No anonymous anything. So there should not be any fears of someone stealing anyones money. Thoughts?

Your idea, which is for a "stable altcoin", is dumb.

Its not an altcoin.

I am going to give you all a hint "stabilization"

I am going out on a limb here, but based on what you have told us so far I now conclude your idea will not work and you are wasting your time.

ok whatever you say.

Post your idea. Worst case scenario, we tell you why it doesn't make sense and you don't waste time working on it. Best case scenario, you generate hype behind it.

No one is going to steal your idea. A good idea is basically worthless compared to how well the idea is executed.

If anything I need to first run my idea past the heavy hitters on this forum. They would be my target of the private placement. If they pass Its something that could be pitched to vc's. Bottom line it cannot lose.

Are you looking for startup capital and/or enough BTC to run your idea? PM me.

No I am doing this on my own. I don't want a nickel from anyone. When everything is up and running, thats when I will present it to the investing public. But you also I will keep in the loop.

Be careful, fleabag. If this is a game changing idea that you've got here, people will do anything they can to pry it away from you. What is it? A new cryptocurrency?

That is what I mean, people will steal the idea just as they would your bitcoins if they had the chance. Lets put it this way I will have a prospectus but I will not be looking for startup funds. it will already be up and running before, I look for any type of capital. I will keep you in the loop.
