Re: [ANN] Introduction to DualMiner USB (could mine both BTC and LTC)

I tried running three on the recommended Orico USB hub (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EH44AA6/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and still have problems if I ever run more than two at a time on the same hub.

I've ordered an Anker 9 port hub that has a lot of power, maybe that will do better.

I'm having no issues running 10 on the recommeded Orico.
Are you using a batch file or the DualMiner SW?  If a batch file, what does it look like?

P.S. I am using these to mine Dogecoin on DogeHouse, maybe you are using them as intended (on Litecoin) and that is the diff? Seems unlikely to me, algo is identical, but who knows.

cgminer.exe --scrypt --lo -o site:port -u user.worked -p thatuberpassword -S //./COM22 -S //./COM23 -S //./COM24 -S //./COM25 -S //./COM26 -S //./COM27
Thanks for posting your batch file.  I had edited mine to only include the first COM port for each DualMiner (i.e. two dualminers --> two -S parameters), not both that each DualMiner exposes (i.e. two dualminers --> four -S parameters).  I will try the latter and see if it fixes things.

Has anyone figured out how to get the DualMiner software to automatically start mining?  I want to put a shortcut in my startup folder in case my system gets rebooted.

Tried the batch files that come in the CGMiner subdir but they only seem to give ~40Khs, when I use the GUI I get 70Khz.

FWIW my ASUS HD7850-DC2-2GD5-V2 is giving 331Mh/s. This is with 1100 engine, 950 memory, intensity 7, diablo kernel under CGminer 3.1. Temp is running 60C.

Any plan to support stratum?  A competitor pool now does so, and my stales for my GPU dropped dramatically when I switched to it.  I prefer to stay with Burnside if possible though Smiley

Did eBay BIN 58** and 6990 cards all just disappear?

I check eBay now and then for good deals on 58** and 6990 cards on Buy-It-Now - when I look now, there are zero listings for any of them.  Am I the only one seeing this?  Or did someone just spend thousands of dollars and buy every 58** Buy-It-Now on eBay?

To all of you who want a fee : there's nothing stopping you from donating a small percentage of your payouts back to the pool, really Tongue
The number of people who would donate would be a very small percentage of the pool.  A small percentage of people donating a small percentage of coins means a small donation overall, and wouldn't solve the problem.

That being said, I'll put my money where my mouth is and send 1% of my total Eligius earnings once I actually get paid the btc I'm owned by it.

I would pay up to 5% to keep the pool running as I'm in it for the lulz and not to optimize my profit.
I think even the pure profit folks would likely prefer a reliable/stable pool with a well funded maintainer than one that is purely volunteer/spare time maintenance only.

I really like Eligius' way of (not) registering clients.  This makes it really easy to add/remove/change my mining HW configuration.  I also like its transparency (except for the recent change).  I really want Eligius to succeed - and having some guaranteed BTC flow into Luke's pocket would help I think.

I liked the original simplicity of Eligius, so the new system concerns me a bit.

I don't like that Eligius has no automatic means of self-funding.  Volunteer efforts nearly always fail, and I don't want Eligius to fail.  As such, I'd prefer that Eligius take some fixed cut (1%, 2%, whatever) of all blocks to pay for itself/make it worth Luke's time to work on.

The US server hashrate stats all went to zero an hour ago or so despite the fact that I was still mining - I assume this is known?

Also, according to the stats page, I have 1.54BTC unpaid reward currently from the US server - when can I expect to receive that?

I'm selling this on eBay @ $189.94 shipped - got one too many cards due to a mixup.  I'm willing to sell here for BTC @ equivalent to $175 shipped to avoid eBay fees.  PM me if interested and I will take down the auction and provide a payment address. Card goes out via priority mail Monday AM if bought by Sunday evening. US buyers only please.

Yes, this is higher than they sold for when in stock at NewEgg, TigerDirect, etc.  Feel free to invent a timetravel machine to go back and order one of those.

Has anybody tried Diablominer with BTCGuild from behind a proxy firewall?

I can get diablominer to work with Eligius, but would rather use BTCGuild. Here's my command line that works just fine on Eligius:
There's an update to pushpool I have to roll into the server that should fix the proxy issue.  I'm waiting to find out when I can move to a dedicated host to make the switch.
Bump.

Diablominer with a proxy works with both BTCMine and Eligius.  I would rather use BTCGuild but it still doesn't work. When will this be fixed?

I have three transfers from Mt. Gox to Dwolla over the last few days (starting 06/05/2011) and none of them have shown up either.

Unless Mt.Gox improves quickly I expect I will switch to some other mechanism.  This is very disappointing because I've been happy with Mt. Gox up until recently!

Re: What will be the difficulty in 3-4 weeks time
by
fnord123
on 07/06/2011, 18:13:39 UTC
21 days from today the difficulty will be 822,872
28 days from today the difficulty will be 990,991

These numbers are only accurate if:
  • The current ETA to next block estimate of 10.48 days is correct
  • The current estimated next difficulty is 683,274 is correct
  • The ratio of difficulty increases continues to be 20%, just like the next one

Here's the sequence:

Plus, the attacker can "prepare" his own new pool while attacking all remaining. All would switch to his pool, and he would easily gain >50% of network. You would not know at all, he can "fake" his pool stats. Then, he rules the network.
A smart attacker would create his pool ahead of time - e.g. one of the current pools could actually be the attacker.  They would have two versions of the mining pool SW - version #1 is the "honest" one, they would run this for a while, likely with low-to-no fees, to get a reasonable user base and reputation.  Then, when they feel they are ready, they would DDOS enough other pools to make people flock to theirs. Once they hit 50%, they would activate version #2 of their mining pool SW, the one that steals coins/double spends/whatever.  Since they own more than half the hashing power at that point, they win.  People will eventually figure it out, but when they do, confidence in BTC will be crushed and you would see a crash in values.

We've stumbled upon something far more interesting than a bet. Why on earth would you entertain the validity of forbidding alternative currency as a 'non-stupid' law?
There are cases in my mind where giving governments the ability to freeze assets makes sense to me. For instance, freezing all of Ghaddafi's assets.  This wouldn't be possible with Bitcoins I believe. I am certainly aware there are benefits to have a means of exchange that isn't controlled by governments, but I'm not 100% convinced yet.

How about making the bet that BTC is worth it's prebreak price six months after a dollar break? So of its illegal tomorrow it's worth $10 dollars again by Jan 2012, as calculated converting from BTC to trading currency to USD.
I will take that bet if it includes that there is still no Dwolla/MtGox-like ACH way re-established within the 6 month period.
