The 608A chip was in the very first production run of Passport 'batch 2'. Shortly after beginning production we move to the 608B and have been using this item ever since.

I watched a video on YT in which the Foundation Passport Batch 2 device was presented and at the end of that video the author refers to the issue of the chip in the device as something that is marked as a possible risk considering that the manufacturer of the chip allegedly stated that chip is not safe. Maybe someone has already mentioned something about this, so I apologize in advance if I missed it.

Link to video -> Foundation Passport: Bitcoin Hardware Wallet/Signing Device TUTORIAL

He is referring to the 608A which is not longer in use and has not been for some time. Also worth noting that whilst Ben is awesome, and provides unrivaled educational content, he receives payment in the form of sponsorship from one of our competitors.

That was the unintended bug introduced in 2.3.2, which is also still present in 2.3.4. The device is looking for a key to be present in the developer slot. Most users do not have this present, causing the freeze.

> nope, user clearly said that he was trying to update to 2.3.5 but his device has stuck, so problem do persists when updated to 2.3.5.

That's right, he is trying to update to 2.3.5 from his current version, but failing. This user is not currently running 2.3.5. Once they carry out the recovery steps correctly and successfully install 2.3.5, the issue does not persist and subsequent updates can be applied using the typical method.

and answering.

Doubt this. I noticed that you prefer to not answer the tough questions like mine above that is not alone in this thread which  leads me to think.... Regarding you new communication channel i.e. community.foundation.xyz it  is factually empty and being such is useless at this point, sorry to say this, anyway it is true.

Please read the comments under the post you linked. It has been answered and the problem does not persist when updated to 2.3.5.

We're thrilled to be hosting a bigger booth than ever at this year's Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, and hope to see many of you there! We'll have Passports for sale, exclusive merch up for grabs to winners of our Bitcoin Trivia, and the chance to test out upcoming Passport features before anyone else.

We'll have almost half of the Foundation team in person this year, and we can't wait to meet you all there, hear your feedback, and get to know you a bit more. Come see us at booth #211 near the Nakomoto Stage and say hi.

The best way to buy Passport for yourself, your family, or your friends is to buy in-person via Bitcoin or cash, and we've brought plenty of Passports to be sure we can handle the demand. We'll even have multiple members of our support team there ready to help with setup and answer any questions you have!

We are excited to meet you there 🫡

1. Definitely understand the sentiment, and many on the team are heavy users and advocates of p2p exchanges instead. This is just the first step as it's the lowest lift, with direct p2p exchange integration on the roadmap!
Good to hear, and having more options is always good.
To give you some ideas, is Robosats for p2p LN to fiat trading and they have a list of compatible wallets, you can consider adding support for Envoy in future:
https://learn.robosats.com/docs/wallets/

PeachBitcoin is also doing a great job with their app, so maybe you can do something similar or make some cooperation with them.

Once we have Lightning support in Envoy we will absolutely ensure that we are compatible with Robosats, and perhaps even explore a direct integration.

We agree Smiley Unfortunately they don't allow US users, which is by far the largest customer segment for us. Would certainly be interesting to explore some sort of integration in the future, however.

I don't think that Envoy partnering with Ramp that is asking for kyc verificatioin is a good idea.
There are plenty of options to buy and sell bitcoin without any kyc that you could explored instead.

What service are you using for showing map locations with Bitcoin ATM's?
I know there is already one nice open source app called BTC Map for that, so is there any advantage of using Envoy app for this purpose?

Passport v2.3.1 is live now!

Quote
With this version of Passport’s firmware we’ve added connections to Zeus,

Does this mean that Passport is now capable to connect directly to lightning node embedded into ZEOS wallet and thus,  open/close channels?

If yes, how many channels it is capable to support simultaneously?

Would be nice to have the full guide on this matter.

At it's core it allows you to sign channel open transactions directly from Passport and have channel closes be automatically sent back to Passport. Since Passport is air-gapped and offline it can't act as the always-on hot wallet portion of a Lightning wallet, but now you can save extra, needless transactions to open and close channels from/to cold storage.
