2020 is just 4 years away. If the price double every year, it is just 16 times of present value, or $7000 each.
That is not possible at all, we may see maximum price of $700 by the end of this year and if user adoption goes higher in future then price will be around $2k in 2020.
I've read it before today, but it seems to me people are dreaming out aloud. An asset doubling every year, based on what? This is not going to happen, and it's not the goal of bitcoin. Rather then to hope/dream, invest in your time in 'important' things.
The bitcoin price has more than doubled every year from 2009. It has ups and downs, the general trend is up.
I guess it is a common thing, up and down. but I think that this year will make bitcoin prices to be higher than in 2014 and 2015, well maybe this is the beginning of the rise of bitcoin
If all goes all, including the SegWit implmentation and the block size increase to 2MB, then the price will be higher than $1200.

The halving will reduce the fresh supply of the bitcoin, so it will increase the value if the demand is the same.

Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070
so someone bought the 1080, for testing how the hashrate is in all the algo?
For 1080 Decred 3200 Lyrarev2 16000 Quark 32000 Neosrypt and etherium needs clarifying - maybe will be bound to linux on release - cant tell the numbers yet All is at 180w 1070(maybe it will change a bit) Decred 2300 Quark 23000 At 120w
good, this of course is without all the tweak that need to be done, and not to mention proper drivers, i can easily see 40mega on quark for a 1080 and 30mega for a 1070
those gpu with those number on decred, can make it once again profitable with lower consumption, pretty beastly, i can not wait to make a rig with those
Dont expect much more with quark - overclocked it was 35000 - maybe with private kernel it might be more overclocked
yes but what driver are you using for those? nvidia didnt release proper driver for the new gpu, that alone can boost the performance
also code on the miner can be tweaked to increase the performance, i remember the inital value for the 970 was lower than today standard, when it was released and tested with quark and other algo
the hashrate on quark at the beginning, for example, for the 970 was only 10.5 mega, look now it's 17m without the private and with oc
Amph what do you think will happen to the 900 series price wise
250 euro already now, for used, probably around 200, when the other gpu will be released and face a drop in their value, so around august?
If the difficulty continue to rise, for the high electricity price miners, they can only make profit with the new cards.

Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH?
This certainly went higher than I thought it would. I jettisoned around 0.028 on the way up. Thought I was going to get my stop order at .0325 filled
I'm not sure if it will stop there the way things are going...we'll definitely see some blood close to the DAO creation, perhaps a little earlier than expected. But having 11m ETH and counting locked in the DAO had a big impact I think.
11 million Ethereum is quite a lot. It is almost 15% of the Ethereum locked at the moment. When the DAO finishes, there might be 20 million Ethereum.
you can use the nano mod of that guy in this forum, he mine with 75watt and 22 mega i remember, pretty good, i still need to see that super efficiency of other amd, it's strange that they cna match nvidia, like the 390 for example
If you under volt the R9 390 to less than 1000 mV, you can get around 6 J/MH, that is better than 970.
proof of that, my 970 do 22 mega for 160w, i doubt a 390 can beat this
This DAO thing is a total pyramid that is going to cause all kinds of crap to go flying in cryptocurrencies when it it blows up.
Sneaky Gavin Wood is quietly leaving out the side door before someone screams FIRE and the whole CONfidence game implodes.
Absolutely, we have to take advantage by day trading in this ETH, I am pretty sure after the DAO release the price of ETH will be falling back and that is a scary thing to happen for those who believe that ETH is not overvalued.
No worries. There will be more DAO which will also use Ethereum. There will be more apps based on Ethereum.

It is the same with AMD R9 390. It can run at 1000 MHz, but when it starts, it needs 990 MHz. Any reason for that?
Don't worry. At the moment I think BTC is going to bouce back up. Looking at the different graphs and websites, I can see that the trend line is steadily increasing now. Plus, before in history BTC has fell sharply and rose back again. So remain with faith brother.
I do not want the bitcoin price bounce back too much, or a big pump. If it rises 5% a month, that is excellent.
everyone uses bitcoin because they like the way it works. bitcoin is very easy to use and very fast in delivery of funds bitcoin. people will never stop using bitcoin !!!
I have used the bitcoin to buy things online. It is very easy to use. I think the retailer used the Bitpay system.
It would not be a good thing if the price would go down again or is going to be stable for a to long time. People are now getting there hopes up because the price is rising. If it would go down again these people will be disappointed.
Yes, the price should now have to increase at least for a few years more and after that still the price should not have to come back, as with that the image of bitcoin will be destroyed and it should not have to happen in that time when bitcoin is too younger.
We are not that down again because as you can see now you see that the value is going to rise soon as possible and that would be perfect for the most people. But as you can see now you see that the value is going to rise slowly and that is perfect.
The price of bitcoin is going up very soon after the consolidation in the $450 range. It could happen next month.
We are not that down and the value is now rising slowly so that is nice for all of us that is using Bitcoin and are waiting for a nice price increase. And the value was not that down it was just stable for a long time.
I think the consolidation will last for a few more weeks. The price will go slowly towards the $500 range.

Re: Is the number of available bitcoins decreasing?
People always forget their passwords, send their money to the wrong address, get their computer broken etc etc...
The available number of bitcoins are decreasing every day.
I dont agree.... saying that bitcoins are decreasing is the same as saying number of lost bitcoins is higher then generated bitcoins. and its probably not.
Wait, wait. I dont think we are on the same page here.
Available bitcoins are the one's being mined now right? Right this moment. Yes it is decreasing. I have read that there is a limit to the maximum mined bitcoin so if there is a limit? then it will be depleted right?
Not exactly. There are 25 bitcoins created every 10 minutes. In a couple months, that will drop to 12.5 new bitcoins every 10 minutes. Then in four-ish years, it will drop to 6.25 new bitcoins every ten minutes, and so on every four years or so.
As you can see, it will take a very, very long time before the number of coins being "lost" ever surpasses new Bitcoin creation. We are nowhere near it now, and we won't be for the foreseeable future.
When the bitcoin becomes more valuable, people will take care of their bitcoin properly. So the lost coins will be fewer.

The price will up and down for the long term. But the trend is up. Today's price is higher than a year ago.
