Re: the RISK of FPGA mining

ROI and electricity fee are not important, because GPU and CPU can bring dozens of times more revenue every year.

Keep your eyes open and don't fall into the trap.

This guy sounds like he would run a profitable venture lol.

I'm still sorry I didn't buy Bismuth when it was below 10k sat! Will we soon see these prices again? It would be interesting because I can't miss the train, however, whenever BIS returns from a stop at Cryptopia, prices go up! Undecided

One trading resumes, put an order at 10k and I’ll personally fill it for you when I unload.

Re: GTX1070 or Vega Frontier Edition?
by

on 14/01/2018, 07:42:28 UTC
The vega frontier sounds like a compromised buy because everything else is out of stock. You'll probably be hard pressed to resell this as well because when everything is in stock, people will be buying the vega 56 or 64 before picking the frontier as an option. My suggestion is to go for the gtx 1070. You can't go wrong because its more diverse in mining and there will be always be a market for 1070s.

who knows, maybe they release some optimized drivers for fe

You probably shouldn't invest if you're stupid enough to ask. These posts are so annoying.

Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates?

XMR seems like an OK way to get a fairly good ROI but many people have problems getting stability and it's unlikely Monero value will rise much in the short term.

I had success with ETH back in the day and have used Monero as a stopgap for a coin with more potential. My Vega 56 GPU's are ready to mine BITCOIN GOLD which launches for mining within the next 24 hours. I believe there will be more potential with that, especially after this weekends crazy Bitcoin news. Shoud get a value boost in the short term, I will mine BTG until the New year.

;-)

I'm just waiting for the pool to open up. I hope to join some of you there. :-)

Why would vega be better than NVIDIA for BTG?

Can you get more than 4 cards working at the same time on same mobo?

Thx in advance

Why not go back and just read the forums? Yes its very possible, I'm running 8

Re: What hardware to invest in?
by
frostedace
on 01/11/2017, 17:49:35 UTC
I'm wondering what the best hardware to invest in mining is right now.  I have heard that there are alot of x11 miners about to hit the market and gpu miners may not be so popular once eth goes pos, kind of not sure which rig to go for....

I have had GPU rigs in the past but interested in the baikal miners too...

Any thoughts for experienced miners who know the market cycles out there?

I'd say go with vega or 1080 ti's. That or just wait for next gen gpus.

Was having issues running 4x vegas + 4 1080 tis. Monero hash kept declining after a few hours even with 16gb ram. I upped it to 32 and it's been running flawlessly. Saw some posts about incorporating nvidia cards so thought I'd throw that out there.

Re: $2300 for ethereum mining.

Hello Woodser,

Yes, I'm sure, I have 10 GTX 1060 3gb and they are working fine and will be working fine for at least one year with ETH and once POS will be there, no GPU will be able to mine so I'll switch to another currency. Those cards work well on ZEC too. 6Gb deliver a little bit more performance but they are much more expensive. The most important criteria is Samsung memory.

Thanks
Laurent

Pretty sure PoS will end up being longer than a year.

If you're venting in quite a cold environment I'd suggest venting out rather than in. If you pull air in you could run into trouble if your rig goes offline, at which point condensation could form on your equipment (at least i think).

I think to myself:
"wow the price of BTC is so expensive, it must be too late to buy."

Then a year later I look back and think:
"wow the price of BTC was so cheap last year, it's too expensive now so I shouldn't buy".

Repeat for 3 years and that's where we are today, it's still too expensive to buy haha. It's all relative.

Re: Mining still profitable?
by

I think ASICs are profitable and will always be, at worst case scenarios you can rent them and they don't require much maintenance like GPU rigs

I can't speak to the maintenance required for ASICs (never had one) but gpu rigs are fairly easy if setup properly, at least in my experience.

I kinda prefer the flexibility with gpu rigs, both in terms of build customization and the amount of algos you can mine. It's also pretty easy to liquidate old gpus on the gaming market when they become inefficient.

In a worst case scenario, it seems like ASICs would be harder to sell.

Nobody can predict the future.

But generally ALTs bounce back at some stage to what they were previously unless the coins development is dead, which this one is not.

Come on now, we have people here who can predict future...

Ok! I have nothing to say. see ya! 30sat on the way lul

Re: [ANN] [PASC] PascalCoin, true deletable blockchain - V2 protocol active!
by

on 18/10/2017, 19:15:27 UTC
I suggest to call the coins only " Pascals ".
Sounds much better than Pascalcoins...

My 2 Pascals Wink

Don't you think it would create a lot of confusion among all those who already know PascalCoin under the original name?

Not at all, it's not like if we were using "cash" "shares" "bytes" "gold" "token" suffixes, "coin" is everywhere.
Pascalcoin sounds a little cheezy...
Anyway this is no big discussion, I was just thinking about it, names without the "coins" in it, sounds better Wink

Pascals !

I sort of agree.  But why not just "Pascal".  We have Ethereum, Monero.  It's not a token by definition from the announcement.

At some point I see a rebranding for pascal, at least in my opinion. Seems a lot of people only know it for being written in that language rather than for some other more unique features (ie safebox, deletable blockchain etc..). Only time will tell when/if it catches on

Re: How bad is breathing in air from GPU's?
by

I think more harm brings noise than the heated air. Or electromagnetic learning, so I would not advise you to sleep in an embrace with a mining farm.

I have to say that I disagree, you should embrace your gpus. There a high correlation between a gpu's overall level of happiness and productivity in terms of hashrate. Social needs are a factor to consider, and is beneficial for both you and your gpu.

Nothing puts me to sleep better than the hum of a hundred gpus.

I basically consider them part of the family at this point and you should too.

Re: Best crypto coin for the marijuana business sector
by

Forgive my noobness, but I'm a bit confused by the landscape in the cryptocurrency/marijuana space. I get the whole crypto/blockchain business case, but where it applied to the marijuana business sector, not so much. There seems to be a large number of coins, but the talk I hear is that Bitcoin is good enough for this business. Is there an altcoin that works for the business more that others?

The USD. Ya know considering it's becoming regulated.

I personally stay away from the 580s and can foresee a really horrible resale value, given their limited utility in gaming and the extent that they're used in mining. Just my opinion and preference though.
