By the way is this your rich list?

http://pastebin.com/wZtajyfP

Seems like a poor distribution to me, lots of whales.

https://forum.ournem.com/general-discussion/nem-rich-list/msg15667/#new

You got too much time on your hands.  Looks like you just copy and pasted what was on that thread and removed the parentheses.   Roll Eyes

So there aren't a lot of whales?
NEM has no whales.

Not true.

Not true.  There hasn't been enough sells at current prices to make that anywhere remotely possible.  For somebody to get 5% of NEM (450 million) they would have to send the price skyrocketing.

I didn't even mention the NXT AE assets which could have easily produced a couple of monster whales.

Wrong thread bud, this ain't NxT's thread.  I know CfB, after Svetlana left as he couldn't 'please her' (both sexually and beluga) is temporarily living on NEM's couch (thread) till the divorce proceedings conclude and that is where the confusion is.

BTW there wasn't enough NEMstakes sold to create whales (plural).

Sure there were, it was being sold for months. Some people were even paying $2,000 a stake for a while!

Even if a lot of unique account IDs purchased NEM tokens, nobody knows for sure how many unique individuals hold how many accounts. I've had up to 20 separate wallets for many altcoins before as I am sure many others have as well.

Bottom line is that NEM, like any other crypto, will end up having the majority of the coin circulation in the hands of a few, regardless of the initial distribution. It is how it has always been and always will be.

Not true. While no whales may have been generated by distribution, anyone could have bought well over 5% of the total NEM supply on Poloniex during the last trading week. There could easily be just a couple of whales with the majority of NEM on Poloniex manipulating the entire order book for all we know.

50-100 BTC is all it takes to manipulate any crypto market of this size. Given the current prices, that's really not that much money to be a "whale".

I honestly rate ajw7989 an 11 out of 10 because not only did he provide me a working serial almost instantly after payment, he even answered a bunch of questions I had after the sale was complete!

Perfect transaction and a pleasure to do business with. Look no further for your serial needs, you won't find a better seller than him  Smiley

As our launch draws near I think it's important to take a moment and think about what really matters and what we are trying to do with NEM. In order to do this I'd like to share a quote from an article I very much agree with:

Quote
The emphasis on beating others to the market just seems silly and misguided. When you’re shopping for a new mouse, do you search for the first laser mouse or the best one? Do you care who built and sold the first set of Bluetooth headphones? When it comes to personal electronics, no good idea is left uncopied and, before long, everything good that might once have been unique becomes a matter of choice for the consumer. So even if you’re first to reach a new technological breakthrough, your window for enjoying that lead will be brief.

When Apple cites numbers, one of its favorite data points to bring up is user satisfaction, which is close to 100 percent for all of its products. That’s in spite of the company rarely being the first to do anything. Just take HTC as an example: it had an aluminum unibody phone, a 7-inch aluminum tablet, a plus-sized smartphone, and the Beats brand all before Apple did. Apple’s just doing all these things a little bit better and profiting from it.

Quality matters more than speed. That is especially true in a tech industry where speed advantages perish almost as soon as they appear. I’d love to see the new MacBook legitimately overshadowed by a better competitor. With Windows 10 on the horizon, that’s a real possibility. But as of today, Apple’s best competitors seem lost chasing their spec tails and neglecting what matters. Beat the Mac’s experience, not its numbers.

You can read the full article here: http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/13/8202873/first-doesnt-matter

Whatever you may think of Apple and their strategy, I think we can both agree that the above principle is what matters in the end. Now, we're not apple, but we are aiming for something different than scam and pump and dump, at least this much should be clear after more than one year of hard work.

Co-sign

And Regular customers and avarage joes are those that can turn cryptos into real gold mine Cheesy

Great analogy, except comparing NEM to Apple is like comparing diarrhoea to gold.

Re: BITCUREX.COM - new official thread

Hello,

Even less formalities at Bitcurex since today. If you make deposits and withdrawals of bitcoins only, you don't have to provide any personal data.

Best Regards!

Hey Bitcurex, can you please clarify something for me. Ok, so you have stated that if you are only depositing/withdrawing BTC, you don't have to provide any personal data.

What data is required if you want to sell BTC and withdraw to IBAN? Name, Address and Bank details obviously but if I understand you correctly, an unverified user (meaning no ID scans submitted) can sell BTC and withdraw fiat to the following amounts:

 60 000 PLN/ 15 000 EUR/ 16 000 USD

Is this correct?

Still remember the huge buzz over Maidsafecoin and Ethereum, with the current plans and promises NEM could be as big as these, with an actual product.

LMFAO!

Bitcoin will always be the POW king, but I can foresee some good competition from a POS or other type of staking method that is more energy efficient.

cryptsy is not giving me my coins for over a week. I just kept getting same runaround from their support. now they dont even respond to me at all.

It is worth over $50K USD!
Does anybody know what I can do to expedite the return? These coins would be making money everyday by staking, so maybe they are keeping the BTCD for that reason?

James

I've tried to withdraw about 250 BTCD hours ago as well. I had two withdrawals, the first one had like 3 BTCD and the second one the rest. The small one came through immediately, the other larger one is still pending after more than 10 hours now.

Cryptsy, I regret having given you a second chance since I quit using your service in December 2013. Still the same old issues...
when you do 2000+ BTCD withdraws, one week and they stop even responding. I asked bigvern to release what amount his cashflow allows him to. It seems they are on the verge of insolvency to be acting this way

James

P.S. Alternatively they are staking as much as they can?

Oh oh, this doesn't sound good at all. Another Gox coming up?

I'm glad I left Cryptsy ages agp. I don't really trust any exchange, I just hold my coins locally and only deposit when I want to trade. Soon as the trade is done I withdraw the coins. I figure this minimizes my exposure to an exchange going down. The only drawback is a little waiting period when your deposits are confirming, nothing really.

I feel the opposite. The flood of altcoins has oversaturated the market, diluted the investment pool and caused people to realize that Litecoin is really no better than all these other alts. I don't think Litecoin will fade away completely, but it will never regain its status as "Bitcoin's Silver".

This is to serve as a record of the pump and dump crown.

It seems it the pump and dump crown / succession has gone

FTC>QUARK>DOGE>AURA>BLACKCOIN>DRK>....?

any other views on this?

*putting on flame proof clothing*

I love it jubalix! Very comprehensive, but you are missing one ginormous one.... MAXCOIN! I just looked and MAX is at 1.5c. I remember it was $6 at one point. Old Keiser still promotes it. I wonder how many people lost everything?

Here is an article on the BTER hack:

http://www.enterstageright.com/archive/articles/0814/cryptocurrpbterjob.htm

Long but interesting. The rumour in the Crypti thread is that the BTER dev flew to Canada to present info about the hacker to the RCMP as the hacker supposedly lives in Canada.
