what is this?
hodl50 is an open-ended cryptocurrency index fund that tracks top 50 coins by market capitalization. our portfolio is rebalanced every month to match the new landscape. in 2017 this strategy yielded 60x returns.
how does it work?
we have a token called hodl which is issued on ethereum blockchain. you can buy it in the first week of each month. or you can burn it to exit the fund and redeem the ether. minting or burning tokens doesn't affect the token price as it is 100% asset-backed.
you can buy hodl token with ether or bitcoin. any assets we receive are split evenly to the top 50 coins. net asset value is defined by the total value of all assets divided by the number of tokens. we started at 1 hodl = 1.00 usd.
where is the sign up button?
there is none. the fund aims to be as simple as its strategy. we make use of decentralized web and use your ethereum wallet as your account. if you open the site with metamask, parity or in cipher browser, you will instantly see your balance and be able to interact with our smart contracts.
we value anonymity and will not ask for any papers. participating is as simple as sending ether and exiting is as simple as burning tokens.
how is the sale organized?
the sale is handled by a smart contract that acts as escrow. after sale is closed and the funds are unlocked, we process deposits and withdrawal requests at the current token price, mint new tokens and rebalance the portfolio. the whole process is usually completed one day after the sale.
do i need to use metamask?
no, you can just send ether to the sale address when the sale is ongoing. note that minimum contribution limit still applies. please don't send from exchanges as we won't be able to help you recover the funds.
what are NAV, AUM, HODL?
NAV stands for "net asset value", it's the token price. AUM stands for "assets under management", the total value of all assets. HODL is token supply. token price is defined by AUM divided by HODL.
what are the management fees?
we charge 5% enter and 5% exit fee.
can i sell the tokens to someone to avoid paying the fee?
you absolutely can, the tokens are yours. in fact, we are excited to see secondary markets emerge.
is there an affiliate program?
you can earn 1% by referring friends. more details to be shared when the affiliate program is launched in march 2018.
