[ANN] Bag of Doge: a fast, cheap, easy way to buy dogecoin
by
furrybear
on 21/10/2014, 02:37:10 UTC
So I just launched a site called Bag of Doge:

https://bagofdoge.com

You can either:

  • buy 50,000 doge for $13 (price changes with market price)
  • get 10 doge for free from the faucet by filling out a captcha

The idea is that for a new shibe, getting those first coins is still a painful experience. You sign up at an exchange, enter a bunch of info, wait for verifications/confirmations, then wait forever for your coins to arrive. Bag of Doge solves these problems:

Easy to use. No exchange, accounts, or anything — just enter your dogecoin address, enter your credit/debit card, and get your coins!

Fast. No delays whatsoever except standard confirmation times. As soon as your card goes through Stripe and back to us, our server sends your coins immediately and responds with your receipt with your txid.

Cheap. There's a bot constantly monitoring DogePrice and adjusting the price of a bag so it's just above market price—just enough profit to keep servers running, etc.

Let me know what you think Smiley

Shouldn't this be under the service part?

Hm, should it? If so I'd greatly appreciate if some mod would move it Smiley

@elm: Sorry about that, truth is I'm working out of a Starbucks and the internet's extremely spotty.

I can still respond to PMs though and have responded to all PMs in the last few hours.

What r the standard server specs u need ? Will your prototype run on a PHP-MySQL shared hosting ?

No on the PHP/MySQL shared hosting; you're going to need a server with a clean Linux install + root access (which you're going to need if you plan on running anything serious anyway). DigitalOcean has good servers that you can use at first, for example. 2 or 4 GB of RAM should be enough at first, but you want to pick something that you can scale up easily.

Moreover, as u have stated in the OP that u r responsible for a lot of PrimeDice and JustDice's hacks. Can u please get Stunna & Dooglus to confirm the same ?

I'm still trying, I sent both an email but neither has responded.

1. I said prototype, not a real build.

2. Does DigitalOcean allow gambling hosting without a gambling license ?

3. What do u mail them, while u can PM ?

Hi BitCoinDream,

1. The answer would be the same for a prototype as it would be written in the same language (Python) and thus wouldn't be supported by a PHP/MySQL setup.

2. I've run several dice sites on DigitalOcean & spoken to support; they don't care so long as you aren't running a gambling site for fiat money.

3. Oh. I didn't realize they were on this forum. Will PM.

Sounds to me everyone and anyone can "build a website" these days, I would only trust op if he can prove the claims he has made. No offense op but you gotta have proof to throw those claims out in thin air Smiley

Fair enough, I'll get some things going in a bit.

I'm curious. Why do you only work on dice websites?

I have other threads for services where I can build or clone any crypto game you want Smiley but I made a separate deal for dice sites since there seem to be a lot of them popping up, so I thought people might want a separate package.

While it is true that many people are stealing ideas from some other people or some other sites, it is still morally not right IMHO.
I don't think you deserve a negative trust for offering the service though.

I guess my response is that the meaning of 'stealing ideas' changes with different kinds of technology. Is it really stealing to download music, for example? The way websites work, data/designs can be copied so easily that you shouldn't rely solely on your website to offer value to users.

If the only innovative part of a site is the site design itself, it's not really that innovative anyway. PrimeDice isn't hurt by people cloning them, because what they really offer is trust, security, a strong community and the name brand of being the first. reddit is so easy to clone too, but if you clone them you won't get very far because you don't have their established community. What really matters is the underlying value; the website is just what people click on.

Likewise, if I clone a dice game for someone, and he markets it really well and grows a community under him, what he really deserves credit for is growing that community. If all he does is have me rip off some site and then try to put it out there, no one will play it anyway.

If you invent an iPhone it feels shitty to see Samsung copy it, but software is so malleable that anyone building a website should expect it to be ripped. You have to offer innovation somewhere else.

Thanks either way though, for keeping an open/tolerant mind and saying that you don't think I deserve negative trust.

whether that offer price is standards for the manufacture of a dice site?

I think it's pretty standard! Before there was a pretty crappy dice script going around for 1 BTC when the price of bitcoin was around $750. On top of that I am offering a security audit, clean code and full-scale server setup including optimizations to make it run faster than most other sites.

I don't know if dice sites are still in fashion, but I will build one for you for $600.

It will include:

  • user registration/login/deposit/withdraw
  • betting system
  • provably fair
  • bet logs
  • automatic betting
  • faucet
  • basic design
  • set up for you on your server
  • security audit to make sure your coins don't get stolen
  • server optimizations to make site run faster than other sites

I've built a site like this before (http://wolfdice.com), so it won't take me that long, and I already have the security layer + server optimizations worked out.

The site will come with an admin panel of course. More generally, I will build it in a way that will be easy for you to manage yourself, hire other developers to extend, and hire designers to re-design later.

Everything you need in a standard dice site to get launched and start marketing to users! Of course if you want more "custom" work it will cost more Smiley

Is It Allowed To Clone a Gambling Site? No its not  Angry Angry Shocked

Why not? I'm not stealing any of their code. This has been done hundreds of times (every dice site is pretty much a clone of PrimeDice in some way, if you look at them). I wouldn't steal the design either, I'd just build something structurally similar, and website design ideas are stolen every day anyway. No one makes a website expecting no one to copy it.

That's really very very expensive.

I won't disagree with you on that, but I'm also offering

 — clean, reusable code
 — maintenance for a while afterward
 — possible design work
 — a security audit of the site
 — a site optimized to run more quickly than most sites out there

These are the kinds of things I have to charge a premium for as a freelancer, to make up for the fact that I'm not a W-2 employee who can just say to payroll "fix things for me." It's also not just code I'm giving, I'm building an entire product which includes design, support, writing documentation for future programmers and so on.

I'm sorry I have to charge more, but I try to give more too Smiley

[Service] Developer who will clone any crypto game site for you.

furrybear

Hey everyone,

I have another thread advertising my general developer services, but I have a new, more specific offer:

I will clone any crypto game site for you.

It doesn't matter how unique or complex; I can take any game idea and build a working copy of it for you. I will build a site that works exactly like the other site and create a design that mimics theirs.

Details

We can work in milestones. I'll write up a formal contract ahead of time outlining what I'm going to build, by when, for how much, and we can split the project into tenths to minimize risk for both of us.

My previous projects are in other thread, but there's no need really: you're not telling me to build something and then worrying if I'll build
it right or not; you pay me when you see a site that works exactly like the other site. (Of course, we can negotiate taking out certain features if you want to lower price, etc. but that's separate.)

The clone will come with an admin panel of course. More generally, I will build it in a way that will be easy for you to manage yourself, hire other developers to extend, and hire designers to re-design later.

I can work in whatever language, but I'm fastest in Python, and I can charge the lowest rates for that. If you want me to use a language I'm not as familiar/am slower with I'll have to charge some kind of premium.

Prices

I can clone most dice sites for around $1,500 (we're talking about full-fledged dice sites with autobet, 2fa, chat, security figured out, everything coded from scratch, entire design created based on other site, etc.). For other types of sites it varies depending on what I need to build.

Also, if you want, I have other services too! I can:
