After contributing shouldn't it be possible to follow the contract and token in the ethereum client? Any directions on how to add it? The only thing I've found by poking around is the raw code on the contract but that isn't very helpful, was hoping to be able to see my AE tokens on the blockchain.

If you are still discussing a potential cap on the main sale, you really need to make that information available before the pre-sale, so that people can make decisions with all the information available to them

Hey said main part not main sale, I think what he means is on the blockchain after the mainnet goes live they don't know if they will have a cap yet.  Vlad can you confirm?

Anyone else notice the BTC = ETH ratio is fixed at 1 BTC = 23.6941 ETH.  Right not it's not profitable to contribute BTC but I'm waiting till the end of the day to see if I'm better off contributing BTC compared to ETH.

Anyone know if this question has been asked?

Can one person get more than one freebie wallet? Ie, i give 48 eth, I get 4 of those tricked out, aeternity branded wallets? they're branded...? That's going to be worth a ton one day. if unopened. put me down for 4.

I believe it's one per mailing address, but if you have multiple mailing addresses I guess you could get more than one from them.

Litecoin - f2pool signaling segwit

Pump! should be activated in no time

You have a link to the block, on bitcoin they seem to just be trolling by signaling for everything.

I didn't see that in poloniex.
Thanks

I'm curious why you want to buy IOTA.  Currently it's not on any exchanges and they keep delaying when it will make it on exchanges.  I owned some for awhile and gave up and sold it as it barely worked.  If you do want to invest in a tangle based coin I'd recommend byteball, it has more utility and actually works.

ETC going to die or what ?

why would it die?

I would assume because the price of ETH has sky rocketed and ETC seems to be stagnate. It feels like the market has picked a winner already.

So for 1 Ether we will get 1100 (1000+100 Bonus) AE tokens in the first 24h. But what if someone like to buy AE tokens with Bitcoins only? You mention on your website "Fund the wallet with ETH (or view alternatives for contributions with other currencies, such as BTC or fiat)." Will funding the wallet with Bitcoins be similar like funding it with ETH? How many AE tokens+bonus do we get for 1 BTC then?
I am wondering the same, Aeternity is not an Ethereum dapp, why accepting ETH by default for the crowdsale? For the sake of token issuance?

Agreed, at the very least I'd like to see the later rounds where you say there would be 800 AE (or less) to be less in the case ETH drops, other wise people who invest months later could be getting more AE than me who invested in the first 24 hours just because the price of ETH dropped.

Hello everyone!

Such a long discussion here and I was only gone a few hours! Smiley

Ignore the trolls, the spreadsheet has nothing to do with us. But I have something that does.

We now have æternity's contribution campaign details!

I am looking forward to the avalanche of questions Smiley

Regards,
Vlad

My only concern with the amounts in the contribution campaign details is the current high value of ETH.

The first round of contributors gets 1000 AE tokens for 1 ETH which seems fine given the total amount of AE is based on the number of contributions so the ratio here doesn't really matter.  But since the second round gets a similar amount (800 AE tokens for 1 ETH) it is going to be kinda crappy if the value of ETH plummets in that span of time.

I actually wish you had just set the value of each AE token on USD given the current bubble we are in with alts and potentially even bitcoin over the next 60 to 120 days.

Another concern is that the campaign is a long one with no cap, if I contribute a significant amount in the first 24 hours I could be screwed over by the campaign becoming very successful in round 2 and the total % of AE I get could be much smaller than I originally thought it would be.

You mentioned the 800 AE per 1 ETH could be less in this post, can you describe what would cause a lesser evaluation in round 2? Would a drop in ETH's price compared to USD do it or maybe a significantly more popular campaign in the first day than expected (so more funds raised than anticipated in round 1)?

Thanks and keep up the good work, really looking forward to this project.

Reading through the white paper now. I do think the idea of verified oracles in the blockchain makes sense. However it looks like there is no reward or incentive for users to become oracles.

For example you have to post aeon to be an oracle, and depending on how far out in the future your answer is you have to use more aeon. If you answer the question you simply get back the aeon you posted so no net gain. If you fail to answer the question or if others (the majority I assume) conflict with you on the answer then your aeon is burned.

Even in the case where you did everything right, you are still locking up your aeon for a potentially significant period of time. I guess I'm just trying to figure out what the incentive is for being an oracle as it seems like it is all downside from the oracle's perspective.

Re: With BTC/BU fork around the corner, what would be a good hedge?

ETH is an option as well, but that one seems a bit too much pumped lately.

The chart looks like possibly $200 coming (nothing is guaranteed of course). The pump had only just begun from ~$20 level.

Also there are apparently a lot of development announcements coming and ongoing. A lot of activity at this time. Many ICOs announced. Raiden LN prototype almost complete. Metro upgrade coming, etc.

Some smaller caps might pump more though.

If the price of ether goes to $200 doesn't it get kinda ridiculous to actually use the network for some use cases. For example this project used to cost about $0.02 to send a tweet, https://github.com/yep/eth-tweet, but now is about $0.20, and would be $0.80 if the price hits $200.

I know it's possible for them to change the default gas price and miners can accept lower prices, but it seems like some use cases for the network just stop making sense as the price goes up.

If you don't wanna lose value then USDT. But you will neither gain anything. Also take 30min-1h and read ethereum's reddit.

Agreed that USD is probably your best hedge against the value of bitcoin falling from an oncoming fork. I'd predict that once this is behind us the increase in price will continue but right now there is no reason for the price to keep going up until we get the fork/segwit behind us.

Re: Sooo...which one of you is selling BTC to buy ETH?

Don't take this the wrong way, but you gotta read the news more often. Major US corporations in Tech and Wall Street announced an alliance project based on the Ethereum platform. That's the single piece of news that cause this run on ETH.

Here's the article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/27/business/dealbook/ethereum-alliance-business-banking-security.html?_r=0

These businesses are building private solutions using their own forks of Ethereum. How would this affect the price?

Yeah once I realized the alliance won't be transacting on the public chain it made that news have far less weight than it did when I originally heard it.  Sure it's a good endorsement of Ethereum and I'm sure they will contribute code back to the project, but they won't have much of a reason to buy ETH or make sure the public network can scale if they are using it in private networks.

Site is down. Is the show over?

Did the players get paid? Some people had large amounts of BTC on there.

Looks like it:

"Due to a legal issue, we are suspending operations. Please cancel any orders and withdraw your balance or email support from your authorized email address for a manual withdrawal. Matches for March 27 and beyond have been voided. We appreciate your support over the last 3 years"

http://forum.sbrforum.com/sportsbooks-industry/2841470-btcsportsmatch-eu.html

And according to the posting on that thread withdrawals weren't working after that post was made.  I'm sure the operator made off with a bunch of BTC as there were probably accounts on there that people haven't checked/used in awhile.

Malleability could also happen without bad intention, but the refund tx is only needed if the normal trade does not get completed.
In that case both have an incentive to agree to a new refund tx with the changed TxID from the now published Tx1 to get back their payments.
At least Bob has no extortion advantage compared to Alice.

There is still the issue of mutual destruction though.  You may ask why that would happen but I can imagine if a decentralized exchange like this really took off it might be worth it for the existing exchanges to mess with users of the decentralized exchange by locking up their funds at random.

But I agree with transaction malleability out there this seems like the only possible solution.

Anytime i want to withdraw BTC from Vircurex, i get an error that tells me the wallet is offline. Is there any problem with it?

I had a problem just now as well, 0.13 BTC is stuck, show as a redraw but there is no tx id.

Hope things will be fixed soon :/

Is LTC still stuck there as well (I can't test because I already pulled everything out)?  If so that would be 8 or 9 straight days of no LTC in the hot wallet and now BTC is empty?  Not a good sign.  Anyone try sending a PM Kumala, I didn't have any luck with the support email last week.
