It's great idea, but ho is it related to  cryptocurrencies?

Guys - i really like the idea of this coin  (and just overall idea about fighting a counterfeit products)
I just don't understand - hod does it work?
Are there any miners or nodes? Why this project needs cryptocoin in the first place?

And what are your predictions about price in 2018?

I am developing a non profit project that uses a lot of forks (and bitcoin of course) - but's i can't decide what datatype use to store prices.
There are several ways to do this, but i have chosen two of them - to use BIGINTEGER, and store it as a STRING

1) - BIGINTEGER (in this case i keep pennie e.g. Satoshi) it's better to use in calculations - but i can't wrap my head around - how to properly take user input? What datatype should i use to use math operations in PHP, and what additional data i need to keep to convert on currency to another (i mean there are possibility that some forks can use more digits after point.)
2) STRING - just impossible to make any computations, before proper conversion. But it's much simper to keep - i mean you just can store the raw user's input   

Can somebody share some ideas with me about this matter?

I am making a non-profit project - that uses crypto-currencies, so i am little bit afraid to buy usual hosting, i am worried that there are different laws in each country and it's really easy suddenly became illegal.
So which country completely allows citizens to use crypto-currencies as usual money, i mean without any pitfalls?  (i mean some sort of barter to but and sell real items using only crypto-currency)
And witch web-hosting could you recommend for that type of site?

Are there countries that explicitly allows such things? And could you advise me some web-hosting companies that are physically placed in those countries and offers best services. (i am asking for virtual web-hosting, because i have a really limited budget, and mostly do this for my personal enjoyment, to pass some time, and because i personally like an idea of ctypto-currencies and freedoms that they could potentially bring)

 i have quite limited requirements - php 7.0, mysql, unlimited traffic (i mean, close to it, in proper use), and most of all stability, so i don't get my site shut down because of some reports
