Exactly this. We don't want to create another crappy situation by hiring someone (new/uninformed/perceived shill) to do public communications. My request for this is simply to help manage the shortage of time-bandwidth we're currently experiencing, even if it's just short-term until things calm down a bit.

Edit: I'm happy for Minor Miner to fulfill this role as he's willing (and able). I'll transfer one of my own shares to him via the icedrill.io backend.

I have a couple thousand shares, and I'd vote for Minor Miner.  My observation is that he's a generally reasonable and intelligent man.

However, I'm also concerned that the representation may just be another form of interference.  While the team is small and probably has limited bandwidth to respond to all questions - and therefore decisions yet made have no real response - I still have seen this situation degrade into an interference pattern.

*shrugs*  for some reason I trust IceDrill, even if it hasn't performed as well as anticipated (and it pays a lot for power).

Yeah who cares about these butthurt babies and their lost nothing worthless couple grand, its not like they would use it on their kids or food or rent. Bunch of whining serfs dont need that much food/shelter/clothing.

if you can barley afford food /shelter/clothing then you should not be trying to invest money, SAVE money yes!!!.. invest... HELL NO!! I cant believe there are so many broke asses on this forum.

It seems to me that anyone desperate enough to buy into pre-order mining equipment but who has difficulty paying for life's essentials (as highlighted above) also has the equivalent of a serious gambling addiction problem.

Don't buy this equipment because you intend to make millions.  Buy this equipment as part of the experiment, as a risk with whatever you may lose, as a learning experience, and to generally support various facets of the crypto revolution.

thx Ken feel less like i should of set my money on fire, or spent it on hookers on backpage.

Hookers would have at least left you with a "happy ending", even if you did still feel just as dirty afterwards as your dealings with Active Mining, et. al.

Is this thread going to devolve into another one of those under-the-bridge troll-fests?

Anyone that has put money into mining gear, please note: do not "invest" any amount that you are not willing to lose.

I've put my money where my words are, but I recognize it as a risk.  (I also have renewable energy to diminish risk, so there.)

 Cool

People on these threads get so bent out of shape trying to be the next bitcoin billionaire!  Chill.

That picture is perfect.  I definitely confused AM for AMC

I still think all of you need to relax.  I'm invested in AMC, and others.  But it's always a risk/gamble.  Anyone who is in over their heads made the wrong decision and cannot blame anyone but themselves.

No bitching on this thread will result in anything productive or positive, so chill.

You seem to miss the very important point, actually the only relevant point to this whole conversation. Ken has stated twice now that we would be on an exchange by this time I believe. That isn't a huge cause for concern but it does need to be elaborated on. If we have passed the deadline he previously set, then he should give us a new deadline and a reason why we missed the first one. I believe we have a reason why we missed the first one, now we need a new deadline. Otherwise we can tell each other to be patient up until February and gain nothing for it.

Mistakes are made.  Especially in the realm of first-round, early-entry startups within a brand new technology sector.

I should hope that Ken is more focused on being operational with the mining and mining-equipment ventures than he is about making shareholders happy with the ability to trade.

In addition, he has been working with "Ukyo" (of BitFunder/WeExchange fame) to try and make the transition more effective.  There is only so much Ken can do when Ukyo is dragging his feet with his Neo Bee activities.  Ukyo HAS STATED that transfer of AM (as well as his own loan) shares is his priority; but I would assume that it's his priority AFTER his Neo Bee work.

Ken is obviously holding out for Ukyo's assistance, because Ken also has better things to do.  Sure, he probably shouldn't have relied on the dates given by someone as unreliable as Ukyo.  However, why are the dates such a big deal?  Either you win or you lose.  Such is life.  You'll find out soon enough and it's out of your control.

Sit tight.  Relax.  Pull the stick out of your butt and maybe smoke a doobie.  I don't care.  But stop your bitching and realize it won't benefit anything or anyone.

@Ukyo:

I don't have enough coin in the WeExchange for me to want to pull ~6% at a time.  I've been leaving it in there hoping to be able to pull out larger chunks of it (hopefully all of it) at a single time in the future.

Would there be any technical reason against waiting until I can withdraw all at once?  Just curious.

@EveryoneElse:

Few of you have probably ever attempted bootstrapping _multiple_ startups in a brand new technological plane without any VC input (other than individual private "pink-slip" investors), but you need to understand it is exhausting and very difficult.

Give the man some time.  He clearly wants to do right by people, as much as he can.  He also hasn't learned the lesson that it is much more difficult to keep the light on than it is to turn it on (i.e., development of a project is easier than maintenance of a program).  I still think he's given evidence that he wants to do right by people, even if he is gambling with other people's Coin.

My accounts that were active a few crashes ago won't let me login anymore.

There was some coin (not much....maybe ~ .057) in one of them.  Is that lost for good now?  I guess I was willing to lose it, since I was experimenting with PrimeDice bot settings, but I'd prefer to have it back and keep going....

So many people here are treating AMC as though it were a real-world corporation.  It is not.

With typical valuation, you use a PE ratio of 10 or higher (generally accepted in the industry) on the assumption that your investment will pay off in 10+ years.  I personally don't anticipate most current cryptocurrency ventures to last longer than 3 years.  However, any speculation is just that: educated bets, at best.

I only "invested" because, rather than simply sit on the obvious deflationary-based increase in value that is inherent in the Coin, I wanted to help the ecosystem grow and *possibly* increase my Coin holdings in the process.  (Though any reward would only be the winnings of an educated bet.)

I only put in whatever I was willing to lose.  People who risked more than they were willing to lose are akin to compulsive gamblers, in my opinion.

Let the man (Ken and team) work.  Understand that it is completely out of your hands.  You invested for whatever reason.  Now let it be and wait patiently.

In patience, all good things may come.

I use ypool's miner (actually not written by anyone directly connected to ypool).

That said, it isn't actually open source. Therefore, no checking to ensure the code is clean.

(And mainstream enterprise considers open source to be *less* secure.  HAH!)

So who knows at this point in the game?  *shrugs*

(Nice work doing your security diligence, all the same.)

If only everyone else did something as simple as this Smiley

The fact that IceDrill can automate share validation proves that someone on their team understands the underlying code framework of BitCoin.

I have more faith in this virtual crypto-investment than all the other ventures I bet on.  (Luckily, it's the one I put the most funds in.)

Can't wait until the project is drilling deep and shares are openly trading.  Even then, I still think I'll hold....

I understand that as difficulty goes up, mining becomes less cost effective.

I'm more interested in getting as many shares as I can at a price lower than retail.  I don't care about making an immediate profit on them by selling out.  (I consider it a medium-long term holding.)

Therefore, mining is a useful way to get in at < retail.  I'm just trying to figure out how much longer we'll have at the game before it dries up.  I haven't found anywhere the number of blocks that PTS will have.

I guess it doesn't matter and I should just push hard now, without considering the longer-term mining potential?  *shrugs*  I'm sure I'll have some clock time dedicated to mining it for as long as it lasts....

BM Group Consulting makes me think of my 76 year old father talking about his bowel movements (he calls them BM).

I'm sure someone is gonna make money at this, but I don't get how it's so revolutionary.

I've seen other POW/POS coins out there.  How is this "new technology".  What is the algorithm?  Where is the source repository?

My guess: pump and dump.

(Still, if I have some spare clock time open up in the future, I might throw it this way mostly cause of native pride and early mining is easy peezy.  I'll sell after someone else pumps it.)

+1 @ Hazard's comment.

Surfhero:

I bought a BFL little single once for ~$1,200.  If I had bought XBT at the time, I would have had around 15.

Once I received the miner, I was lucky to get 1 XBT out of it before I sold it for $700 over what I paid - right after BFL sent me an email saying they had shipped all back orders and were shipping from stock.

Some sucker was desperate to get in the game and was poorly informed.

Take heed: if you believe in cryptocurrency as our future, buy a little at a time (Coinbase lets you buy in fractions of a Bitcoin) according to what you can handle, store it in a secure offline wallet (e.g., electrum --- and make many copies both on CD and USB).

DO NOT SELL, DO NOT SPECULATE!  Every asshole out there is trying to do that and there are plenty of bigger fish in the sea that will eat your lunch ----- and your profit!

BUY AND HOLD!  It is the best prospect to make a profit, now and in the next couple of years.  Buy a little every week, if you can.  AND HOLD ONTO IT.

Don't go thinking you can predict the market.  Don't try and get in the mining game because you'll spend more cash than the Bitcoin you'll get out of it just trying to play that game.  It just makes more sense to buy than invest in hashing power.

(That said, I make plenty day trading a small portion of my holdings....but I've been in the game a lot longer than you, and it's no better than Craps.)

If you want to speculate, buy a bunch of an altcoin you think will go somewhere.  Buy and hold LTC cause it's up there in price now, but plenty of other coins (DigitalCoin, SecureCoin, etc.) are cheap enough that you can drop $10 and get a bunch of them to see where they take you!  (If you end up at a significant profit, you can always trade up to BTC.  Tongue)

Seriously: BUY AND HOLD.  Forget the rollercoaster of the ups and downs.  Does not matter.  BITCOIN TO THE MOON!!!!! (and it'll make you a millionaire if you just buy and hold.)

I know I've seen something that says we are close to having all the PTS that ever will be generated.

I guess I could do the calculations, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their heads what the last block # will be?

This will help me see how much to put into the mining efforts at the moment.

Thank you.

Listen BTCIRV, I had the same issues but was able to fix it easily.

Are you running on *nix or Windoze?

If you are running 'doze, open a CMD terminal window and navigate over to the directory that your Protoshares QT is located.

Type:

Code:
protoshares-qt.exe -addnode=168.63.12.227

And hit enter.  The QT should open automatically and connect.

If you still have issues, please feel free to private message me and I'll see what I can do (though I mostly lurk on this site).
