Re: Help! Sent 20 BTC on 7/19 but still not a single confirmation

Are you using the latest client? Do you have multiple (copied) wallets? Can you write the exact text on the line 0/unconfirmed or 0/.... ?

I am using Bitcoin version 0.3.22-beta
Does version matter?

I have two copies, one in a computer, one in a flash drive. Both encrypted with TruCrypt.

The exact text is:

0/unconfirmed     7/19/2011 22:25

Double click it. Does it say it was broadcast?

When I double click it, it only shows the following:

Status: 0/unconfirmed
Date: 7/19/2011 22:25
To: 194TULzVsBygqNMgmMomgHTQexLU2eKhec
Debit: -20.00
Net amount: -20.00

So the blockexplorer hassn't show the 7/19 transaction? What is the possible reason for that?

Is it even possible that the 20 BTC will get lost permanently?
Or will it show up in the other wallet eventually???  Huh

The address I sent to    : 194TULzVsBygqNMgmMomgHTQexLU2eKhec
The address I sent from: 19pTRoTFAcQ2PVBPrqVoWGy7RczDNhTygN

I sent 20BTC on 7/15 and that one was confirmed and received by the other party.
The 20BTC sent on 7/19 has gone missing.

I already download all the blocks this morning. I have received several hundred confirmations on the other transactions on 7/19, 7/21, and 7/23.

Thx!  Sad

I have a similar problem.

I sent 5 payments to the same address about 24 hours ago.
2 payments received at least 1 confirmation within 30minutes.
The 3 other payments have yet to  a single confirmation.

Is this normal? If I receive no confirmation in another 24 hours, what should I do??
(The two confirmed payments have over 150 confirmations now, but the 3 payments still have 0 confirmation)

Thanks in advance.

I have 6 Sapphire 6970 and 2 HIS 6970. I like the Sapphire better because one of the HIS runs at higher temp.
I am currently running them at 960 MHz Core, and 340 Mhz Mem, getting a little over 400Mhash/s. The temperature range is 65-78C in a closed case 3 card machine.

If you deleted a data partition on your HDD and then re-formatted it with a different filesystem type you're pretty thoroughly @$^#ed.

 Grin Newbie mistake.

I guess I have to reinstall windows again.

Hi,

A Linux/LinuxCoin newbie here and just started installing LinuxCoin yesterday.

I have the same problem as some people here that version 2.0b does not work.

I have installed 2.0a by following the instructions and I am able to run with persistent.
Then I have another flash drive installed 2.0b and boot again with this newly created flash drive. I am not sure if I have persistent or not (I chose that option), but all the software are 2.0b version now Smiley

Another question:

I was running windows 7 64bit before. Now, it won't allow me to boot up windows again. When it boots, it give me some error message saying something like system file error, and the only way I can boot is using LinuxCoin now. Need some advice on how to boot up windows.

Thx!

Re: Looking for a mining platform for my miners to get 5 BTC, will share profit.
by
goldbit
on 27/06/2011, 00:29:25 UTC

I am attempting to earn bitcoins so that I can learn how to trade on Mt.Gox or other exchanges and with the way my mining is going, I will be going nowhere slowly. I am asking for one of you honourable gentlemen or regal ladies to help me out by providing my miners some time on your boxes to earn 5 BTC so that I can move forward.

I am not asking for a hand out, I have registered at most of the bitcoin trading and services sites and have posted my service offerings. I am a sound engineer and I will work for BTC when the bitcoin job market picks up. I have taken time to educate myself and spread the word on bitcoin. Even a search of my username should reveal that on this forum.

I am asking for honest help and I am ready to adhere to whatever terms in splitting of profits made by the miners that is required by anyone who wants to offer their help. I am not able to buy bitcoins with my cash because my country's banking system does not cater for online merchants if you are asking.

I don't quite understand what you mean.
1) You want to use someone's machine and use your miner to earn 5 BTC?
2) You are not asking for hand out?
3) You will split the profits?

So, how are you going to split the profit? You use someone else's machine to earn 5 BTC by providing basically nothing but your miner account. I am totally confused.

Re: 51% difficulty increase in 3 days
by
goldbit
on 22/06/2011, 17:26:04 UTC
Here is my simplified model.  Tongue

Let P be the bitcoin price or more preciously, the profitability at this moment.
Let X be the total machine power in the network.
v = dX/dt = the change in new machine power in the network, or the velocity.
a = dX^2/dt^2 = the change in velocity -- the acceleration, which I believe is a function of P.
Let f be the friction, which is a function of both P and difficulty level.

If we solve this 2nd order differential equation and set the boundary condition, we should be able to get a equation for X.

It should note that the a is a leading indicator, while X is a lagging indicator, meaning the surge in bitcoin price a few weeks ago increases a instantly, but the change in X reflects a couple weeks later. It is logical to think that when a surge in price, people will start investing in new machines, but the new machines take time to procure, ship, and assemble.

The change in difficulty level affect f, which is a feedback factor. It should adjust v and drive the profitability to zero in the long run when the system is in equilibrium.

Re: 3 interesting replies found at mtgox website about the rolling back
by

Even if Mtgox lost a large number of bitcoins, they can temporarily work like a fractional reserve bank until they recoup all the accounts with the 0.65% fee.

I think there will be a "bank run" on Mt Gox after this incident. If Mt Gox do not have enough bitcoins, some people is going to eat the loss.

I am glad I found something wrong with my account less than 24 hours ago, and I changed my password to 24 character long, and withdraw all btc at the same time.

I just found it unbelievable that so many people blindly trusted Mt Gox even with all the hints show up in the last few days.

Are you not able to login Mt Gox?

When you try to login, do see you account name and balance (on the top right corner) but it says you are "not logged in"?

If so, try reset your password by using your account name (not account email, it will say no email found).
After reset, everything should work.

Re: Reports of MtGox being hacked ARE REAL (Fixed)
by

Is anyone having a problem logging in now? What I mean is, I can log in, then see the trade screen and my balance is shown in the upper right, but when I go to another page, such as account settings, it says I'm not logged in, and asks for me to log in again.

Same problem here.
I am extremely nervous right now. I hope it is just a glitch at Mt Gox.

Can anyone confirm it?

I think my account has been compromised.

I can login my account. After I login, I can still see my user name and my balance on the top right corner, but it said "Not logged in".

Can someone confirm me if my account is hacked??

Insert Quote
* How much funds did you lose?
not that much
* To what address were your stolen funds sent?
Can't log in to check; email address was changed as well.
* What OS are you using (Windows, Linux, Mac OSX ...)?
Windows 7 x64
* How long was your old password?
12 word,
* Was your old password random?
No really random
* Was your username the same on Mt. Gox as on the forum?
No
* Did you use your Mt. Gox password somewhere else?
Yes
* Did your old password contain lowercase letters, uppercase letters, special characters and numbers?
No
* Have you used any Bitcoin-related software, and if yes, what software? Think about things like miners, wallet managers, etc.
Bitcoin, CPU-miner, namecoin,
* Please also include a screenshot if possible so we know it's a real report.

Am I screwed???

Update: I try to use forgot password function. I entered email, but it didn't work, so I think they changed my email.
So I submit my username to reset my password (even I know I won't receive the email).
But a few minutes later, I receive an reset password email in my original email account!
WTF is happening with Mt Gox???

Another update:
After I reset my password to 24 character, I am able to login and my fund is still there.
But I am very skeptical about using Mt Gox now.

Re: Can Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 support 2 GPU?
by

you munged up the specs, so i looked it up:

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4) (Note 3)
2 x PCI Express x1 slots (The PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots share bandwidth with the PCIEX4 slot.) (Note 3)
(All PCI Express slots conform to the PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
3 x PCI slots

(Note 3) The PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots share bandwidth with the PCIEX4 slot. When PCIEX4 slot is populated with a x4 card, the PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots become unavailable.

It sounds as if you'd be restricted to 4x on the second slot. Also, you should not have anything on the smaller "pci-x 1" slots, because those will not work at all when using slot 1 and 2. unless you added a wifi or tv decoder card to the 1x pci-x slots, then that should not concern you.

No idea how the 4x speed changes the mining behaviour tho. Does mining need a lot of i/o bandwidth? If yes, then you could be restricted by the reduced speed, if not, then go ahead.

I plan to run 2 x HD 6870 (add one more) on this machine. I wonder what will be speed of the 2nd card if it is plugged into the PCIEX4 slot.
