Re: The Centralized NXT IS BEING DEAD

What happened to TF, any ETA on its implementation? Its surprising that after all this time there is still no TF when it was one of the features promised on launch.

If you understand TF*  == the ability to predict the next block with a high probability... such as said here...

TF is just an ability to "predict" the future. All the other is bells and whistles.

... then it has been implemented since block 30,000 (1st January 2014)

You can see it alive and kicking, predicting the next forger, here

Otherwise you will have to ask a more specific question as I am not sure what else to tell you.

*Transparent Forging

I thought that once TF was implemented the debilitating block times would go away. I guess I misunderstood, in which case the block times are an issue.

Re: Why even use BitCoins? (read the post!)

It doesn't have any natural advantage in day to day use and its certainly easier to use card or cash in those situations. Where Bitcoin shines is the ability to transfer across borders almost instantly, and able to store it securely. No other option will have you store your own money, you will be relying on 3rd party unless you stuff gold bars in your mattress.

Re: Encouraging people to adopt Bitcoin.

Right now there is no need for the general population to use Bitcoin, especially as it's not easier and in some cases costlier to use. I can't even recommend others to save it as investment as the value may change quickly in the wrong direction.

Bitcoin came about as a result of the banking crisis. When the next one comes we will see true adoption.

Guess, what's the block time of NXT?
45Mins

I understand that is a rare occurrence, or has it been happening more regularly lately?

Have a few coins there which I even forgot I had. Time to dump them and withdraw whatever I can.
Sad that the site ended this way. Could have truly become a leader. No idea where and how it screwed up.

It will keep shuttling in a small range for now. I dont see any evidence of a big breakout on either side.

Maybe 2016 will be the year for the big rise, but I dont expect it to happen anytime soon.

Re: We've started mainstream adoption - Pension considers Bitcoin investment
by
goosoodude
on 04/09/2015, 22:22:06 UTC
It's a nice dream, but since it's only being considered as an option - i wouldn't celebrate just yet. Other than that, it's one of those things that gives bitcoin slow
but increasing support, and rises the price over the time, since pension funds would generally just buy and hodl, leaving less bitcoins on exchanges.
Sure hope it gets rolling in the end, but i'm not sure they would have much users, since many people don't like making risks when it's their pension funds and future in question.

Re: The Bitcointalk Weekly Price Movement Poll.
by

Under $200 ... trust me

No this is not possible at the moment because that nonsense xt fork drama has been finished so price will rise to $240.

Anything is possible with bitcoin. With the new stress test pissing people off, and proving once again that bitcoin is far from perfect as it is now,
i wouldn't be surprised if we fall under 200 $ real soon but not within a week for sure. But since this thread's prediction is a weekly one, i will say 230$.
Later on it will get pushed a bit more up, and then comes another dump probably.

Re: Proposal to add Bitcoin symbol to Unicode
by
goosoodude
on 04/09/2015, 22:11:24 UTC
Interesting idea, and a needed one i believe, because other than here on btctalk, we can't make btc symbol right now.
What was the other case where you successfully proposed the addition of a symbol to Unicode ?

Glad to see this and thanks for the effort, will save me in future from always having to type btc or bitcoin in most cases. Always to lazy to lift the hand to the mouse to hit the special character above so just type it out.

When you are done with this you should get onto the computer manufacturers so that they can include a bitcoin key like the Windows key on all keyboards. Bitcoin is going to become so mainstream that we will really need this  Cheesy

Not sure if you're trolling or serious, but either way we're long way from there. Currently community is even having a hard time keeping the people we already have..

Re: A Simple Gambling Trick
by

It's not much of a trick op. It's still a game of chance, and loss brings you to have to invest much higher in order to go back to positive zero.
If you are trying to get referrals on the site this way, you should offer something much better to lure people in, because this method you described isn't guaranteed to work.

Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong?
by

Gambling is in now way wrong if you are doing it in a way that it doesn't affect you or someone close to you. So keeping the old "don't gamble what you can't afford to loose"
is the best way to stay safe. On the other hand, if you are thinking of dealing with money problems by trying to multiply it by gambling, it's definitely not the way to go.

btw this is way more suited for gambling section imho.

Re: How too get rich
by

How to be rich? Buy Litecoin mega pump is coming. Whales buying a lot of LTC now.

Made me laugh for a second there. There's no better way to loose money than by following expected pumps, there's little profit there.
Even if you do turn out to make some profit by doing so, it wont get you rich, which was the topic of this thread anyways.
You have a much better chance to get rich by hodling something valuable like btc, if you don't mind the wait..

Re: Is it better to save money or invest it?
by
goosoodude
on 03/09/2015, 22:45:03 UTC
better keep and save it so it will stay safe. when you invest it, there's a lot of risk , if you're unlucky , you'll end up losing all your money.

Not if you know what you're doing before running into investment. There are a bunch of options that don't have that much of a risk to experienced ones, but
it's true that risk grows proportionally to gains, so it's best not to be greedy when choosing an investment.
I would always choose investment over pure on holding and stashing, not only does it's likely to make a profit, but it's dynamical and interesting as well.

Re: how do people sell things in digital goods section with very cheep prices ?
by
goosoodude
on 03/09/2015, 22:40:41 UTC
Many things in digital goods section are not legit per say, like all sorts of accounts and memberships, and some are aquired as freebies and then sold out later on here.

Also, there are some users that have accounts on many other forum sites, who then make sort of arbitrage by buying things there and selling them here, or just making
selling threads here and when contacted they then buy it from alternate forum for a cheaper price.

Re: Amph, the useless user!

He openly admits to posting only to get paid. That probably does not help his cause here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877765.msg12227587#msg12227587

So what? As long as he doesn't post useless garbage then there is nothing wrong with him admitting that he is posting to get paid. His post quality is better than 90% of the other posters here in this forum where you obviously can see that the users post vague nonsense for their signature campaigns.

Lock this thread.

I read through some of the posts of Amph and it does seems like nonsense and repititions.

lmao you've registered just to post this, funny, yet you need to tell me, what are those nosense post, because the only nosense one here is your and the fact that you're hiding yourself behind an account

It is funny to see someone opening an account just to say his mind, but none the less he does reserve the right to an opinion.
Maybe he thinks there's a reason for doing so, because i doubt anyone would do it just out of spite, or to spam, but i may be wrong though.

Sad to see people him being a part of our forum, and a pretty active one..  I would suggest analyzing his known bitcoin addresses and searching for alt account links
that way, but i think he was careful about that, considering he's already involved in some shady activity.
