Anyone know if there will be a deal on Galaxy S4 cases? It would be especially awesome if the case had a Bitcoin design  Cool

So has no one got their BTC back from the BIPS wallets? Is it even worth submitting a helpdesk ticket right now?

Ron Paul is dead to me since he endorsed Ken Cuccinelli. Probably doing the Republican Party favors to help out his son.

Justin Amash (R-MI-3) has yet to disappoint me.

In my experience, the laughing has decreased and the respect has increased with more and more serious inquiry. And I still get to keep the nickname of Mr. Bitcoin  Cool

From Jay Meyers' op-ed series "Share the Wealth" in the student newspaper at Louisiana State University: http://www.lsureveille.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-silk-road-shutdown-demonstrates-failure-of-free-markets/article_ffdc3dfe-3144-11e3-9eb7-0019bb30f31a.html

I'm considering writing a formal response, but we should definitely get some comments on there.

Re: [$1.25] RAFFLE ~ Crypto Currency Conference 2013 ~ $180 USD Prize
by
grantbdev
on 08/10/2013, 13:00:07 UTC
I locked this thread this morning due to not being able to follow through on this raffle mainly due to the forum being down.

But, I have good news, albeit not so for four people (really, probably only two). I have declared a winner sans any drawing. That person is grantbdev.

grantbdev PM'ed be asking if the drawing took place, for he wasn't around till the end of the conference. Guess why? He was the one that had the seizure, thus missing the bulk of it. Like I just wrote to him, since BitcoinTalk was down and I couldn't conduct the raffle as I planned, in my mind I was thinking about reimbursing the guy's admittance cost that had the seizure if I was only able to find out for sure who he was, never in my wildest dreams it was one of the five in Post #2 of this thread.

I'm pretty sure that none of the other people on the list will be upset with this gesture. I've already asked grantbdev for a Bitcoin address so that I can remit his winnings.

I do request something though just to make doubly sure that it was grantbdev that went down at the conference. Can anybody here vouch for grantbdev one way or another so that I can relieve all doubt from my mind that it was truly him that had the seizure? I'm not looking for any definitive proof, for any member's word posted in this thread should suffice.

I highly doubt that grantbdev is pulling some scam, for in no way was he asking for any bitcoins. It was I that declared him the winner due to him having to leave early from the conference. I'm not sure, but I believe there was some hot nurse he wanted to see oppose to seeing Tony's Simpson cartoon and listening to Charlies' stupid jokes.  Grin

Again, if anybody can vouch that it truly was grantbdev that had the seizure, please state such in this thread for all to see, for I'm ready to refund his $180 USD via BTC.

Bruno

It would not feel right for me to personally accept this:
a) As a student, I paid $99 in BTC for my ticket.
b) The conference already gave me a refund and a free video pass.

Give the BTC to Sean's Outpost instead.

CGP Grey just uses the Bitcoin logo as a visual representation of money in his videos. He is not paid in Bitcoins unless you donate some to him.

Any other bitcoiners attending LinuxCon in NOLA this year? http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-north-america

I don't really see any meetups going down in the south except Texas. This could be a good opportunity to get something going for Louisiana. I know the convention isn't Bitcoin centric but I'm sure there will be some interested people there like me. Also, Gabe Newell will be a keynote speaker (just felt like putting that out there).

San Francisco comes to mind because they have a sushi place, a cupcake place, and probably a few other things that currently accept Bitcoin.

I don't really think scams alone can bring down a currency. The majority of scams are outside of Bitcoin, and people don't lose faith in dollars just because they were scammed with them.
