The new version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.8a from here:

https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Windows.zip
https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Linux.tar.gz

Changes in version 5.8a :
  • Added lock core clock
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RTX 3060/3080/3090 cards
  • Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will
provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
  • Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
  • Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -
cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
  • Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will
be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with -clkernel 0 anymore)
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.8.1. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher - you need to use older drivers for proper
    operation of these cards
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20). Note that the latest 21.30 drivers are
not supported (and the initial testing shows that even the older Polars cards are not working properly with them, so avoid 21.30 for now)
  • Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.8a

Can someone please help me understand what is going on with my miner?  I open command prompt, and type start... it will run for 5 seconds, then simply go back to the command prompt.

New issue.  I am trying to upgrade to 11.7 to see if that was one of the possible solutions.

When the program starts, it runs for a few seconds then looks like it "bombs"  Any help on this would be greatly helpful.  As for the install, I simply copied the "Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred_Siacoin_Lbry_Pascal_Blake2s_Keccak AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.7" folder's contents to a c:\... base dir.  then simply used my start files.

I am running Claymore and having issues.  I noticed that on 05/21 that my overall speed for eth mining has dropped by almost half.  If I change claymore to xmr, it has also dropped by 2/3.  Can anyone please help me figure this out?  Of course, the computer is the same, drivers/bios/claymore version and etc.  I would like some troubleshooting steps to get this figured out.  Ask all of the questions that you have and hopefully I can answer them or find the answers.  BTW, I used to get 2500+ H/s and now I am getting ~800 H/s on xmr.  I am using 11.3 version of Claymore

Afternoon,

I am new to mining, but am pretty pleased with my current setup.  I have 2 RX580's 8GB and I watched lots of videos and read bitcointalk to learn about how to optimize my cards to get the most out of my rig.  (I am getting more cards ASAP, but you can only one every 48 hours.)

I am able to get ~62Mh/s total for the two cards.  When I dual mine, I am getting ~55Mh/s and ~1200Mh/s on SIA.

In my research, I keep seeing that it's not as profitable to mine SIA due to ASIC mining.  Being that I am happy with this rig, are people still dual mining and taking a small hit on their ETH or are they strictly mining their favorite coin?

Thanks in advance for any advice and help.  I truly do appreciate it.

If your planning to get into mining and buy more miners like a number of 6 you should atleast know your future cost of electric bills you will get in monthly form. If you planning to get sollar it much better to do it and buy sollar panels.

I See you got a good suggestions from a pro, so heres mine that I would say basic stuff to know.

GPUs
You are mentioning Ethermine and Nanopool, so I guess you will mine Ethash (ETC or ETH) or may Equihash (Zcash). You are using 2 X RX 580 8GB if you decide to mine Ethash coins such ETH, ETC and so on, for a better result, you need to modify your bios cards (You can find a thread about bios modding in this forum, simply just use the search function).

OS
You should choose OS that you think more friendly to you.

Pooled or Solo
If you plan to mine major coin, do pooled mining, don't do a solo mining except you have to plan to mine newly coins.

Wallet Address
Would be better using your own wallet (safer). But if you plan to trade it in the market, exchanger wallet address is okay, it would reduce a withdrawal fee from your mining poll.

Mining Software
For client software, I suggest using Claymore.

1. Make sure you have a nice area which is not in a hot place in your home.

2. Put the miners on the place where the heat is not always stays.

3. Why not try farm mining. Its also good to invest in a mining farm and rent a vacant space.

Jaycee99, thanks for your advice and input.  I have been thinking of several places that I can put it and ensure that I have proper ventilation.

My home is 60% percent electricity.  This is one of the main reasons I am wanting to mine vs Masternode.  I feel that I am in a much better spot than many others.  I have a 25KW system that I was able to take state and federal rebates on.

Regarding Farm Mining.  I may want to crawl before I fly.  I am simply trying to get a clear understanding on how to properly build the best one I can.

jillscarbrough Thanks for your help and input.  I have been in the IT industry since 1999 so I am quite versed when it comes to Operating Systems.  The only reason I am currently leaning towards Windows is I can't find ways to overclock/tune GPU's in linux.  Windows simply has greater R/D and support when it comes to certain things.

I will follow your other advice also.  Thanks a lot.

Mining Tips and Advice

I am new to the mining arena.  I am having my mining rig delivered in a few days.  I'm starting with 2x MSI RX580 8GB.  It is amazing how complex this environment is.  It definitely isn't build a PC, install software and you're off to the races.

I would really appreciate any help/tips/advice that anyone is willing to provide.  I don't even know if I'm asking the right questions, but I'll try my best.

I think I am going to go with Windows, even though I'm a UNIX/Linux guy by trade and heart.  I simply see more R&D and support with the Windows drivers and bios.  I really couldn't find overclocking and other options on Ubuntu or other flavors.  Please correct me if I'm wrong. (Both OS's are free to me, as I work in the IT industry)

Should I join a pool or do solo mining.  I have read the cons, and I believe I should go with a pool like Nanopool or Ethermine.  I see that there are different rates, but these two seem to be very popular.

All of this research and I haven't even gotten to the wallet and software.

Regarding the wallet, I planned on using Metamask or one of my exchange wallets.  The reason I am thinking exchange, is so I can trade profits.

Software seems to range everywhere.  Nicehash, Claymore Dual miner, ethminer, and I even have the choice to pay $2 per month for SMOS.  I have even seen Neoscrypt Claymore.

Can someone simply help me narrow down some of these choices?  I have been researching for quite a while and am getting quite overwhelmed.

Thanks in advance,
