Re: Antminer Z9 mini worth it ?
by

on 09/07/2018, 13:54:30 UTC
Think twice before ordering Angry:

I ordered 2 Antminers Z9 mini early from the first batch. I was charged 600$ cad in custom taxes but I have NOT received them yet because they were stuck in custom for 10 days even though I paid the taxes in full on first day and now DHL is telling me everyday I should receive them and I never receive them. Embarrassed

Now they were release from custom 4 days ago but I'm lucky cause when I called the custom they told me it could be stuck for up to 2 months.

I think it's because of the Trump tariffs fiasco. Now custom agents are very busy learning all the new rules for thousands of products that will get taxed. Or maybe because it's summer and some agents are also on vacation.

So far I lost 1000$ dollars because I could mine (normally I would have received it 12 days ago) and I still have no idea when I will really receive them and I paid 600$ that I was not expecting.

So I am sitting on a 1600$ unexpected fees for those f***ing miners and loosing 45$ everyday I am not receiving them! And the diff is growing fast too. Cry Cry Cry

To this you have to add the loss you incured for not investing that money instead (and now the market is going up so you can loose a lot if you don't invest instead).

ALWAYS use FedEx for bitmain orders to Canada,, simply the fastest delivery to your door. Received my batch 1 shipment of z9's Jun. 22nd via FedEx
(I also paid just under 300$ cdn import per unit)

Yea, to add to this. I purchased and have been running a batch of z9's. Plugged in June 22nd - ETA for ROI is 18/08/2018 (about 45 days from now)....

A bullish market move in the coming months could give ROI to all batch 1 purchasers prior to shipping of the next batch.

SIA mining still largely profitable if you have cheap power or the newest ASICS.

I am running 40 A3's @950GH/s | 1220w and still pulling a nice profit.

Bullish on SC reaching 0.1$ as it gains more adoption and use.

Alright, hoping on board to spec mine this coin. I'll point a few rigs from my farm towards it to accumulate some coins.

PM sent to the dev's, will get started ASAP when I receive the LUX address.

diskless boot only thing of interest here, i assume they will sell these rigs for more cost than their individual parts cost (so would be cheaper to buy and construct it yourself).

Though diskless boot only saves about 15$usd/rig given that's the cost of a 60gb ssd from china these days lol

right now 1070Ti are the sweet spot for mining in terms of cost vs. hashing power vs. power draw.

I recently added 10x 12card 1070ti rigs to my farm and they run very stable at about 135-140w mining a variety of newer algorithms (x16r/s,phi,lyra2z,tt10,etc.)

My 2cents if buying GPU right now is go for 1070ti if paying MSRP

Yea, 600w total heat being added to a room is nothing to worry about. Though 2x 70dB fans screaming will be very annoying.

Its not ever going to 'die' - just other solutions will continue to dilute the % of block rewards that are going to be taken home by GPU miners.

When they say 'die' just referring to continued downtrend in terms of btc profit vs. electricity cost.

Any idea how noisy would the Z9 miner be?

Single fan and running 300W shouldn't be any louder than a small GPU rig. Most of the noise from other ASICs are from cheap vacuum cleaner sounding PSUs.

The Antminer Z9 Mini is rated at 68dB - typical antminers are rated at 76dB (Antminer S9).

regardless, all antminers purchased can be resold on like ebay and such for higher than you paid if you buy batch 1

its almost no risk, if when received the profit has dropped off -> dump the miner to some idiot on ebay for more than you paid

Hi all

Well, I cannot agree with you on that, too much risks with Bitmain nowadays as they price per value and not cost..
The X11 Batch 1 was at 11K USD and now they sell at 1500 and no one would buy afaik.. while the E3 were the most profitable, Batch 1 at 800$ now >2100usd
Same for A3, difficulty skyrocketed there and miners went from 2300$ to <1K$

Mike

all A3 batches have been massive profitable to mine with. X11 would have been massively profitable is CN did not hard fork. Top equihash coins have already stated they won't be doing a hard fork for ASIC's.

Even when these all hit the networks, should still result under 100 day ROI

Well, the A3s unless you got them on day 1 out of all customers you wouldn't have got your ROI yet, their price was 2300$, difficulty went up from ~0.5M TH afaik to 11M TH in 1 week, at 40$ per 1K sia that would still have made 1K usd, but prices of sia went down afterwards to 20$ then 9$.. you had to mine 120K coins at 40$ to return your 2300$ which till now none of Batch 1 miners did, afaik most should be around 100K coins

I have batch 1 A3's running right now in my farm.. paid themselves off in about 2.5months and have been making 8-10$ of profit daily since. A better ROI than GPU's have been recently.

Yup, mined about 125k SC since receiving it 97 days ago.
Cost per A3+PSU =~ 1.45BCH at purchase time
1.45BCH =~ 80k SC at todays price for both BCH and SC

Yup - I was mining LUX on this pool for about 2 weeks, I have sinced moved over the a different pool (pickaxe).

I noticed first hand that I was not receiving accurate # of coins based off base percent of shares submitted. Some form of skimming likely happening, sad that its becoming so common across these pools that are already taking 1-2%.

yea like many others have said, I don't see the appeal at this price point. 1080Ti's can be purchased for equal or less $, come with a superior 3 yr (vs. 3 month) warranty, they have re-sale value AND they can hash core intensive algorithm's (the most profitable ones recently) better than p102 cards.

1080TI > p102 100%

Do you guys deal with humidity where you live? I assume it's probably not the best for rigs and was curious on how to prepare for the coming humid months. Dehumidifiers, airflow or just crank the AC 24/7?

typically not a problem, the heat given off the from GPUs keeps the moister in the air at bay.

moving the hot air away always better than using A/C

Re: GPU'S
by

yea dont buy last gen cards right now, with new gen cards coming out this year buying 10 series nvidia cards is the better play, in terms of ability to recoup investment by selling the hardware down the line.

The market for 980ti's will die completely with the release of next gen cards when there is a large supply of used 10 series cards being sold.

Right now best play is to buy any 10 series GPUs at or below MSRP, should make decent ROI.

(i.e. 1080ti's at or below 700$usd).
