$25K sounds about right, depending on where you live and how much sun exposure your roof gets (though there are ways around the latter). For 3kw 24/7 you need a 6+kwh system and a battery with enough juice to provide 3kw on average for roughly half the time. Those are top of the head estimates, you can use calculators found online to get more specifics, but in the extreme rough estimate range, if you are having a system professionally installed $25K seems about right for that load.

If you want to figure out installing one yourself, on the other hand? That can probably shave $5K off it, more if you can get the parts wholesale, but it does mean being confident working with household wiring and dealing with local codes and permits.

Re: Best overclock settings for RX580 8GB

Hi all,
can anyone suggest me (best to do miner) what is the best overclock settings for RX 580 8GB mining.i am using nisehash.
You have to find a perfect spot for your own gpu because there is no perfect settings for a gpu, they are different even if they are from same brands, I just find downclocking more effective than overclocking, that's after spending years with few mining rigs

/\ THIS. I have used several different miners and OSes and there is variance there, too. You have to set each card individually and test it out for various periods to find what works best. Also keeping in mind longevity; if you want to make a quick turnaround/buck than go full force. I keep mine at about 90% what they COULD do, but I've had zero downtime on 6 580s for close to 4 years now...

If the world was suddenly without electricity we'd have much bigger problems than currency.

I run them during winter whether profitable or not (I use the heat, so technically they're ALWAYS profitable in winter). Sumer is really just about whether or not they're losing money.

I have mine set to throttle at 80C. Anything under 70 is well within safe operating temps, just make sure you have decent airflow if you're worried.

Hello, I'm new here. What is the best coin to mine with this X3?

If you're converting regularly, then whatever is highest earning (currently Karbo, I believe, check whattomine to be sure).

Long term I suggest Electroneum. I've been following it for a while now and I like it and its dev team, and it's one of the few coins that has put in real work to be a usable currency. YMMV, lots of people on here will tell you ETN is a shit coin, and they may very well be right, just offering my two cents.

None, it's useless.

It's still clearing $3-4/day after electricity (@.11USD/W). That puts it in top earners for affordable ASICS currently.

I don't advise BUYING one, but if you currently have it it's probably among the least useless mining gear you have...

from turbo tax USA laws
"When you mine the coins, you have income on the day the coin is "created" in your account at that day's exchange value."

You're not really wrong, but:

A) whether or not they are correct, NEVER RELY ON TURBO TAX FOR INFORMATION. If you earn more than $50K/year, they are a bad choice, and if your supplemental income from mining is substantial, get an accountant.

B) there is absolutely no way that the IRS is asking for value at time of realization, because it would bankrupt them to calculate that rate for a handful of miners, much less all. Market fluctuations are constant, and you mine in increments every second. No way they can determine that, and no way they can audit every single miner to determine fraud. Again, talk to an actual accountant about what you may or may not owe.

Just a heads up to those who keep current--do NOT update to 1.3.3 without a solid backup first. I have been paying with it for the past two days and the best I could get was 2/5 cards hashing for more than half an hour. The suggestions they offer in IRC (not people, the static message at the top of the page) crashed the entire rig and nothing will hash. Will be rolling it back to 1.3.2 tomorrow. Buggy release, avoid until it is properly tested (or at least try it out first, like install to a separate thumbdrive and update that).

Web design is pussy shit.  Learn how to secure a fucking network.

 Cheesy Cheesy

As for tariffs hurting China more than us? Tell that to Ford. The tariffs have cost them around a billion dollars and they're about to issue massive layoffs to US employees (general reply to the overall conversation, not directed at gotminer specifically).
pussy shit? lol are u drunk ? network admin is the easiest job to outsource in all It , and you are always one socially engineered data breach away from a pink slip every month lol , I give u three years 😂 if that.

ford layoffs is because the make bad cars duh, even if its due to china , they buy more than us dummy, the only reason they can ACT like it doesn’t hurt them is those commies subsidize all thier industry, basically everything is
protected by the state , you can only do that for so long loosing hundreds of billions a year

I'm usually drunk, but that wasn't me. Though based on your grammar, comments, and oh-so-engaging six year old level insult, I'm hoping you were when you wrote that.
No suprise there you sound like a perpetual drunk, I could give flying fuck about grammer on a forum idiot, you get the point which is all that matters , its typical with losers when they are stumped on an argument or debate they try to switch the subject , no ones buying what you’re selling , pussy shit lol.

Cool story, bro.

If I buy one, is it still profitable to mine?

If you actually use the heat, absolutely! If you're just venting it outside, then nope.

I heat my house all winter with miners, I haven't had to turn on my heater (also electric) since winter 2016. So for me, running an S5 in a cold room is technically profitable.

Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI

It's not huge. And the algo is certainly small, since it's the only coin currently on it, and there are already more efficient miners in production that will hit the market in Nov/Dec. It's a bad call IMO, especially with US customers shying away due to tariffs...

In this case Bitmain was very very late to the game, hence they are dumping their Decred miners before the big ones hit in a couple of months. The pricing reflects a payback in 2 odd months, exactly around the time the big ones come out. They had no choice...

By my rough math it looked like longer. Add in the President Dips**t tax @ 25% and it's just not profitable, even with $.11/kwh electricity, unless Decred's price goes up significantly (which isn't the pattern of coins Bitmain makes miners for, it's usually the exact opposite since, well, the L3 really)...
